You said that fish are "mostly just for looking at" and listed the coelacanth as an exception. Looking on wiki, I don't see an exception. I just see a pretty fish. Reading up on the biology, it doesn't even seem like it's a fish for looking at; more or less a fish that should remain in mystery, as its eyes are incredibly sensitive to light.

It's a living fossil, pretty much.
We thought these bad boys and had been extinct for aeons, before we found up people were fishing them up in Madagascar. I am pretty sure it's the only living kind of plated fish anymore; but I may be wrong, not too up to date on the current events there. So it's a massive throwback to something we thought didn't even exist anymore.
So essentially, this was like finding out there were still true dinosaurs. Only this comes from an even earlier era! And that is completely awesome.

Oho!
...and here I'm still waiting for the big news about Loch Ness.
// The "monster" of Loch Ness, that is.

Anyone here likes cows? I know that Del Stimpson does. At least cartoon cows. I do indeed love real cows, I'd say they are probably my all time favorite animal. Plus the name/word cow is just fun to say. The Captain has told me on many occasions that it was one of my first words, and that I got stuck on that one (and that one alone) for quite some time. :'D Zuu: It's more stupidity + ability to fly that makes birds unappealing to me. If birds couldn't fly, I'd probably mind them less... but they can, and they aren't easily (or at all?) potty-trained, so yeah... no thanks! -Tom Wyrdy you obviously don't know much about birds then, because they're actually quite intelligent considering their brain size. I wish I could recall their name, but there is a type of parrot/cockatoo (can't remember which it was) in Australia that actually rips branches off of trees and uses them like a drum stick on their homes in order to lure a mate. they also tend to repeat this two or three times until they find a stick that makes just the right sound. This is of course is significant because it's blatant use of a tool, which is something that is normally only associated with apes. Oh and I should also point out that they also create their own unique beat/rhythm/song with this display (ie: no two birds use the same rhythm). Which in and of itself is pretty awesome. I have tons of other examples but I suck at remembering names and breeds, and I really don't feel like causing a huge problem or an argument. And yes I do speak as someone who loves birds (they're my favorite type of animal), but I also speak as some one who's spent a lot of time learning about them (I really want to be an ornithologist, amongst other things >_>). Anyway, I also really love cats, ferrets/weasels, donkeys, foxes/coyotes/wolves, lobsters/crawl fish, bats, turtles, pigs, and loads of other things. Edit: The Captain and I combined have a dog (Patches), a cat (Goldie) and a ferret (Kiki). In the past we've had at least four other cats, one dog, one parakeet, two finches, seven chickens, two roosters, two ducks, one hamsters, and two gerbils. Oh and a mouse.

Originally two mice, but they kept fighting and we had to give one back to the pet store before they killed each other.

About birds, I'm fine with them. (Except for that Parrot!! XDDD) Also they never shit on me. Except in the 2nd semester of 2003, when many bird shit fell into me out of nowhere many, many times. xD It was only during that very period of time though! Which is weird. Hehe, it was funny when a friend felt something hitting his head, put a hand on the head and then it got white because of some substance. XDD That was 2 years ago, but it was pretty hilarious at the moment. White shit drops started falling from his head too. xDDDD He quickly went off to clean them. But oh... ME ME ME MEW! I can't get over it! XDDD

This discussion is ridiculous. Please stop. Birds are awesome, end of story. Being "fine" with birds is an insult to the world! Love them. Always.

As those who have seen my designated lap accessory show his tabby-furred glory in other threads may guess-- I am primarily a cat person. Always have been, always will be.
I'm okay with dogs, but they tend to be noisier than I prefer on average, which can be annoying. My family has four little dogs. I love 'em all to death, and they can be fun, but they don't ever freaking shut up.
...Birds. Yech. NO.
I've always thought ferrets were cool little critters, but they seem like rather high maintenance pets. :\

If there's anything I can't stand though, it's that "You have a pet, and you don't effin' clean it, or clean up after it!" smell.

TOT~~~~~ I like plump pudgy Harvest Moon cows the most but real cows are equally .... um .... cute! I can't stand the official Harvest Moon plush versions though. Ugly! The official HM cow should be MOOTY! I love Mooty! I wish I could get the mini version. TT But the large one is just fine too. :D Also! I love real sheep~! So woolly and they make funny meeeehhh noises. :O Ooh. And lambs too. On a non-farm-animal note, I like harp seals as well. :3

Goats are awesome, because they are friendly as hell. They won't listen to a damn thing you say, and you don't wanna irritate them. But they're awesome, regardless. It's worth visiting a county or state fair just to see the goats.

Goats ate up my plastic bag this summer. Strange, hungry animals.
Crazy? Yes. Cute? Yes.
When I was a kid, I threw shit balls at them, on a field. Weird behavour.

I want a cat... And I wanna name it Samishen or Cat.
A dog should be called Ulrich or something.
Pet Balogna would be cool too.

When we were little, me and a friend wanted to get a big dog, and name it The Dog. It would have been The Dog™. It would imprison innocent people for breakfast. And burn houses while asleep.
Destructive, but creative.
