Announced in the latest Famitsu, it seems.
Thinking about it, is this every PSP-likely game they had on that original list of in development titles now? I can't remember any others.

I'm guessing all this is from the new issue of Famitsu, incidentally? Which I'm pretty sure comes out tomorrow. If so I'll go buy a copy tomorrow in the interests of better pics.
Edit: Checked and yeah, it's the one that should be out tomorrow. I also checked and yep, they've now announced everything except Ys 7 and LoH7. We have to get one of them next year, surely.

Strange that they're making it for PSP. Maybe they're finally abandoning the PC platform?

So the main guy is Ares, it's set in a tower you have to reach the top of, there are lots of puzzles and traps. Attacking increases your attack power, using magic increases your magic power.

Wow cool art, now I only hope you don't turn the world if you decide to look left. Stupid game hurts my eyes.

It definitely looks like a Brandish 1 remake. Dela and Ares up on that hill, that's from the Brandish 1 intro. Also, I think I remember that floor map, haha. And by the way, that is the standard Brandish logo, Wyrdwad. It has always looked like that. Brandish 1 is nowhere near as good as the second and third games, but it is still extremely great. But considering Brandish has a three game story arc, it is possible that there are Brandish 2-3 remakes to follow. That's REALLY something to look forward to. Brandish 2 in particular is so fantastic I get all giddy just thinking about it. An English release would be unnecessary, as Brandish practically lacks a story, and has almost no text in it at all. And considering the TREMENDOUSLY successful Brandish SNES release, I don't exactly expect any localization to come out of this one. Obviously it is going to be using the typical "turn the world" system, which is awesome. I really really thought Falcom would screw Brandish up by making a new game, as they almost did with Brandish VT/4. That game was a HUGE disappointment. A big reason that it is the worst game in the series is that they scrapped the "world turning" system. Brandish is certainly an aquired taste, but once you get it - you can never get enough. I am actually REALLY hyped about this! Is it coming out in march? I honestly can't wait. Damn it, though. I wish they would have made this for pc. Just the thought of using my PSP makes me feel dead inside.

PSP? Ugh, I am starting to regret my decision for buying DS... Although I probably won't be able to play this, I am happy about this remake since Brandish really deserve to be taken out of shelves. I wonder how characters will look like since Brandish has one of my favorite character arts ever.

Wait, let me get this straight.... You like the "turn the world" system?

I think it is excellent. It's PERFECT for the type of game Brandish is. Brandish is a very unique series, there's nothing quite like it. Brandish 4 has the same gameplay but lacks the "turn the world" system and that alone made it a LOT worse than the previous games.

Not that I've played either game, but the graphics style of this remake reminds me of Xanadu NEXT.

The Brandish series... Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure. I guess I'll start with this one when it get released next year. Turn the world system? What kind of system is that....

Your character always faces upward. Instead of him turning to the left or right when you press the respective buttons, the entire game world turns instead, and your character still faces upward. It's an ingenious system, really. It is REALLY weird at first, I admit. But once you get the hang of it, you will understand what Brandish is all about, something that not a lot of people do. Here's a hint: It involves awesome-perfection. With greatness. Not that I've played either game, but the graphics style of this remake reminds me of Xanadu NEXT. Yes, I agree. The ruins area looks like the overworld of Xanadu Next. The problem with Brandish 1 is that there are only like five big areas in the entire game (the ruins being the first - and most boring). And it's a long game! It gets really repetitive. The other games are much more varied.

Did you want to sell your copy?

NO! I may find my game collection to be a big ugly burden, but I will not part with anything Brandish-related! Ever!

But you don't like Brandish 4, you actually think it would be better off in my hands.
