Guh. Finally watched the International Trailer and WTF is wrong with Vanille's voice actress? Everyone else isn't that bad though.
Also, I really like the Leona Lewis tune. ^^ Gonna check iTunes Canada to see if it's up~

Vanille's VA sounds like she fits the character perfectly.. she sounds really, really annoying Snow's US VA made me rethink never having him in my party, though. Maybe actual gameplay will change my mind

I watched the most recent (I think?) trailer too, and the dub sounds alright, actually. Not fantastic, but certainly serviceable. Snow's VA is actually really good, particularly when he's shouting - probably the highlight of it for me. Sera sounds pretty annoying though, and Lightning doesn't seem to have adjusted to her role very much. I think Sazh sounded pretty good, everything else has been forgotten. Which is probably more of a good sign than a bad one.

Hey, I REALLY like the dubs I've heard so far. They capture what I heard of the Japanese version, like Vanille. She does the best that she possibly can to emulate the character and the motions. That's a BIG thing you must keep in mind, because Vanille moves in a particularly Japanese way, if that makes sense. Like, from what I've seen, she's the most animated when she moves, just like in a TV show, or anime.
So, the voice actress has to "move" her voice, if that makes sense. The tilts of the head, etc.
And I think she sounds fucking adorable![/i][/size] That's just me, and I love accents.
Everybody else sounds great as well! I think Hope's actor has done a great job, as well as Sazh and Snow particularly. Hope in that dramatic scene is really good, as are the other two characters I mentioned.
I dunno, it is just my kind of dub.
Keep in mind, I liked Lost Planet's English voice cast so my taste isn't that great, I suppose.

To anyone who has played the JP version of FFXIII yet. Do you really think there's any reason to buy a guide book for this game?
I mean, I usually like buying physical guide books for games for maps and charts. But it doesn't look like FFXIII will really need it. At most I'll want an enemy location/drop list for the 100% item achievement, but that's easily a single faq. It's not like treasure boxes are going to be hidden in dungeons, the leveling system seems simple enough without a guide (unlike some Tales games), it's not like there's fixed treasure hunting points like Chobo digging in FFIX, and no really obscure and annoy collections like the cards in FFVIII & IX.

Hey, I REALLY like the dubs I've heard so far. :O!!!! Good to me is like Disney or Pixar stuff and goofy stuff like Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. Or like James Woods in Kingdom Hearts II. HE was all sorts of awesome. He should be in every game. He'd be the Morgan Freeman of video games!!!!

To anyone who has played the JP version of FFXIII yet. Do you really think there's any reason to buy a guide book for this game? None whatsoever. Which is a shame really, as the guide has to be one of the best looking guides I've seen. Dungeons are incredibly simple to navigate, no items are missable (don't sell anything though, and there's not much in the way of subquests, either. A list of weapons, items, accesories and perhaps quest locations is about all I could see one being useful for, but it'd be way cheaper to just print that kind of stuff out. It'd only take a few pages.

We have a mini guide available here, which is just a preview article for the main course. I've always made a tradition out of buying the guides, but if its totally useless..... well, yeah, it better come with an artbook just like last time.

I'd almost be tempted to pick that one I linked up just for display, lol. They should've gone for that kind of design for the western game box. The Japanese one is just the logo with some kind of shiny holographic surface, whereas the Western one just has some random picture of Lightning thrown on there too. Probably no shininess either.

You're probably right, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if its even more bland.
They should have done a guide/ost bundle, which I'm sure would have sold like hotcakes.

As others have said, no. FFXIII really plays like it's on rails and since you never deviate from the rails until you've beat the game more or less, there's nothing to miss. The few side events there are(digging, missions, etc) all have map markers pointing you to where you need to go.

Phew. Turns out the crappy chocobo tune was only for Nautilus.

Meh. Hatsune Miku techno chocobo theme is WAAAAY better. (: At least that one didn't change the melody so much. Too classic a melody to mess with it like that! Bad composer - BAD!! (: I'm beginning to think you deliberately diss tunes I like or like stuff I don't like for the heck of it. You should ignore all the stuff I like cuz otherwise, I might find where you live and uppercut you for real. >:(

I think Hamauzu himself acknowledges that his name is weird, on the SF2 Liner Notes (I think) ...
