I think were all mature enough not to imitate another user.....
Plus, if it was on the board, you would be able to see who was really online anyways.

Actually I've been banned from every IRC channel I've went on. I think it has to do with the whole "think before you speak" thing, and that if people could ban me from real life they would, ha ha.

We did have one, and I remember it being pretty lively, but it was a PAIN to log into. That's why I loved that applet, as you could just plop it on the main page and forget about it.
Yeah you can't moderate, but seriously, have the moderators had to moderate anything here over the last 2 years??
Apart from Topic title changes, I am not really thinking so.
All in all, I think the Main Page could be waaaaaaaaay more fleshed out, but we need devotion from the members, not the staff.

Do both. I'm pretty sure there are IRC applets you can get that could be used to connect to a set channel that you could throw on a front page - that way people who want it simple applet could do so, and seen as it's a regular irc channel they're accessing people who want it that way (I pretty much have mIRC on all my waking hours and half my sleeping ones, heh) could do that too.
On the other hand I'm far too lazy to mess around with setting up such things myself so yeah, just throwing that out there.
