But the Black Key is shattered to pieces! Also, well, about that Dash Jump Chain, remember I told you once that you can use heavy belt + Dash Jump Chain (DJC), so that DJC works even in the PSP and PS2 versions, and that that way it worked with any of the 3 swords? Well, it does, but for some reason, I think I can also perform it faster with Erricil instead of any other sword, now that you mentioned it. It probably has the least quantity of frames, I suppose. All the swords rule.

I had a different reason for liking each one, though Ericcil, in the end, turned out to be my favorite, due to the magic attack you gained from it.
For basic attacking, I more enjoyed using the Livart. It was quick, was moderate in strength between the other two, and part way through the game, let you use the "whirl wind attacks" ontop of the basic 3 attack combo, which helped muchly with mobs of monsters.
Blirante was my least favorite to use, it was slow, and while strong, was just to slow for me. I did however, use the magic gained from that sword, against almost every boss I fought against.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it here in this topic, but anyway... did you know Ericcil's magic was even more powerful in the PSP version? xD (Don't ask me about the PC version though, as I even didn't finish it yet.) Basically: In the PS2 version --> Ericcil's magic hunts down all enemies of the screen. In the PSP version --> Ericcil's magic hunts down all enemies of the ROOM! And this can be absurdly devastating, especially if the magic and sword are at the maximum level. (First time I brought that up was here.)

I find all three swords have their uses. Livarte is the most well-balanced of the three, where as Blirante is better against most bosses and enemies that inflict status ailments. Ericcile's magic is absolutely devestating on enemies--really helps clear rooms that are teeming with baddies.

Livart for general use. It's quick, awards extra hits and is easy to use. I use different swords for bosses though, depending on the boss.

OK Blirante seems quite a good sword especially in the cave ^^

I prefer Livart for general use (eight quick slashes where most can hit multiple targets while allowing you to move around beats slow strength in my book) but Brillante's* magic is great. Orjugan becomes so much easier when you can knock a nice chunk of his HP off from long-range and it can be great for crowd-clearing as well. I also have a lot of fun abusing Ericcil's lightning dash and there's something generally cool about the idea of Adol with a rapier (which is why Ys Seven letting Adol use them along with Agate-sized swords was so cool). Really, they've all got good points but like I said most of the time I'll probably have Livart equipped. * I refuse to reverse those l's and r's and be Engrishy. There's the Altar of Brillante written in English in the original game so I'm perfectly justified in prefering that spelling, so nyah.

Is it odd I like Ericcil the most? I liked how fast it was on the battlefield, plus it gave me the best jump & attack range, allowing me to get a certain magical egg. I almost never used Livart through the game and Bilrante I used mostly for it's superior range ability. Also, you are missing a sword: The one Adol starts with.

I find Livart to be the best. The speed (and whirlwindyness) does it for me. Coincidentally, I also find the Ventus (Wind) Bracelet to be the most useful magic in OiF.
I also find Ericil to be the least useful of the three swords. At least Bilrante has massive power backing it. Even though Ericil's special is quite nice.

i generally preferred the livart the most, though i didn't find any of them particularly worthless, each had their uses for me.

I personally prefer Livart the most...Though I used Ericil often as well due to its hit-everything-present special.
