Castle of Cagliostro was notably more Miyazaki than I thought it would be. Obviously, as a derivative work, it wasn't as fantastical as his other works, but the charm was all there. Actually, it looked a hell of a lot better than the anime, too. Matches what would become that characteristic Miyazaki style much more closely.
I have to say, my only real complaint is that the english cast wasn't the same as in the anime. Not to say it was bad, but Jigen's voice was so radically different that it bugged me the whole time. It felt like a different character.

I've never seen any of the Lupin III anime, but The Castle of Cagliostro is one of my favourite movies ever, animated or otherwise. ^^ I've heard that Miyazaki's Lupin takes certain liberties with the character that fans weren't happy with, but I came into the movie knowing very little about either Miyazaki or Lupin, and thought it was one of the most fun, adventurous movies I had ever seen. I think I must've watched it about ten times since then.

Prince of Persia
Honestly since it was based of a video game(and one of my favorite series) I wasn't expecting the movie to be any good. boy was I wrong. The acting was pretty good, they also did a good job on choosing someone to play as the prince, and like my sister says, "finally out of all the movies I've seen the lead actor is actually attractive in his role".. something like that..something along the lines of the lead actor actually being attractive. lol (is that weird to say??)
Any since its one of my fav game series and I'd been waiting just under 4 years for this movie, I had zero expectations for and hell it was seriously a lot better than I thought it would be.

AS A LEVEL 22 NECROMANCER I BRING THIS THREAD BACK FROM THE DEAD!
So I totally saw Toy Story 3, which was surprisingly good. Better than 2, and just as tear-jerky as UP, just moreso at the end instead of slamming you with a miscarriage in the first 10 minutes.
I also saw Inception, which was kind of hype machine, but still basically awesome. It could have done with more exploring of dreamscapes instead of typical hollywood gunfights, honestly, but the concept in and of itself was pretty damn neat.

Just watched Superman Doomsday which was totally awesome. Not technically part of the DCAU, but still has the quality. Damn, there's some cool fights in there!

Oh hi. Went to see Inception last week instead of packing for my move. It was a fun movie. Great base concept that left me wanting to see more done with it. One exceptionally awesome fight sequence that didn't rely on Matrix cam or jerking the camera around wildly until you barely know what's going on. And it actually generated some discussion even though my take on it was pretty cut and dry.
I guess next up will be Scott Pilgrim.

L-O-fuck you filter-L yesterday after posting that a coworker gave me 2 free passes to a pre-screening of Scott Pilgrim, so I got to see that last night!
It was a good, fun movie. Obviously the graphic novels are better because in order to save time all character building outside of Scott and Wallace (and Wallace just had a really, really good actor to give him depth) was stripped out of the movie. Though in dumbing down the evil exes, I finally realized the silly moral about the exes trying to fit in to some form of popular clique but were actually jerkfaces underneath and Scott is true to himself and natural or some crap. In the books it's much more subtle 'cause the exes are given more depth and aren't so cut and dry. Anyhow, those rants aside like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz the movie kinda laughs at you for trying to look too much into it and you're just supposed to click your brain off and have fun. It's good for that. My biggest worry is how well people who haven't read the books can keep up with all the intro stuff up until the first evil ex. They cram a whole book of introductory character building in 15-20 minutes and while I knew everyone and could keep up, to others it might feel very rushed. They also rush the last couple exes but I haven't read books 5 & 6 yet so I didn't care too much.
Finally I knew it was done for time, but they stripped out 90% of Scott Pilgrim vs The Infinite Sadness, my favorite book... and almost made up for it by having Metric perform for The Clash at Demonhead's song.

Shit, that sounds pretty rad, but I still feel weird going into something so "geek" that will be so huge, and I bet that because of Anamanaguchi's appearance/involvement, they're gonna get huge and chiptunes won't be my own thing anymore ):
I just finished watching The Protector/Honeur du Dragon/Tom Yum Goong, and it was pretty terrible and awesome. Maybe the theatrical version is better, this had so much pointless shit and bad acting, for the English characters the scripts were horrible, it was great.
And the fact that the movie boiled down to a big PSA for various world issues is pretty ballin'/idiotic. You got animal abuse, drug abuse, racism, sexism, and probably some other stuff.
In conclusion, elephants are an important part of Thai culture, and if you fuck with elephants you fuck with Tony Jaa.

Cats & Dogs: revenge of kitty galore.
overall, very cheezy movie, but I ended up liking it. The one thing I don't like about those movies is when they show why the villain is doing what there doing.. i ended up feeling really bad for kitty galore, makes me sad when i see those kinds of things happen to animals, even in movies... and kitty galore was an adorable cat... someday I'm gonna own a hairless cat.
one thing I did really like about the movie, was the opening sequence made really good use of the 3D

Saw Scott Pilgrim Versus the World today. A very fun movie! Its goofiness reminded me of Parker Lewis Can't Lose. XD
And I dunno why people are going on about the disappointing box office sales because frankly, a movie like this isn't going to do well with the masses to begin with.
It only caters to us geeky folk and those that appreciate the wacky humour. Well, I guess it's more for the video gaming geeky folks, really.

Saw Evil Dead! It was ruling! Man, what a film! Listen up you primitive screwhead (kidding -- you'll see), now you need to see Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness! Those are the best! The first Evil Dead was more about horror than any of the other films. The rest are more action-comedies, with slight horror elements -- and Bruce Campbell's finest works!

Yeah, it had tree rape, and wuss-Ash. It was a good horror movie, in fact one of the best I've seen, but it's not my favorite movie in the series by any means.

I saw The Expendables. A very good movie for those of us who appreciate LOTS of action and blood and violence. It doesn't disappoint. All actors played their usual characters. The story left a little to be desired, it was as about deep as a TV episode of The A-Team. (Which I love, by the way.) Jet Li and Statham stole the show! They were great as always! As for Stallone, his character was alright. I liked the "brother guy" more. I have boycotted The A-Team movie, as promised last year or so.
