I have another sake tasting event comming up in may 2011, there we'll get to taste a red and a rose sake, made from red rice. that will be something else I think. Never heard of rode and rose sake. I'm very interested to hear the results from your tasting.

When the person who leaded the tasting said that there was red and rose sake I was like: WTF!? But then he said it was made from red rice and I know that there is red rice, so then it actually was quite logical.

I also have a Double Bastard Ale and a Dogfish Head Raison D'Extra waiting to be enjoyed. Oh no! Thou hast drank me! I am drunk! I am. . . no more. I am vanquished not by steel nor flame, but draught! Oh mad world! Oh spiteful, vicious, mad, mad world. How savage this demise! How cruel my end! How. . . over dramatic this parting. Goodbye, cruel world. Good. Bye.

I enjoy sake on occasion but it's not my favorite drink.

I've finished off a bottle of Sake just about every night during my Japan trip with my wife's father.
まいばんかんぱいい!
We've tried various brands from different areas in Japan, such as around the Kyoto area and the southern island of Kyushu. Some we drank as atsukan or warm Sake and some was Shochu, which is stronger, more like Whisky and can be mixed with various teas such as green tea and oolong tea.
But as a rule I usually never drink alone.
