Just had Ys6 arrive in the mail, installed it fresh - it came as 1.3.0.5 - and downloaded/installed doppiapunta's english translation patch. Alas! There seems to be something wrong, as the game is now completely illegible, where I used to be able to make out a few words with my limited Japanese knowledge. Example from the start of the game: img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/Tsukasa7/ys6.jpgAny ideas on what might be wrong here? The configuration utility translated into english fine, for what that's worth. I've tried 2 installs, running it in both english and japanese for locale settings... doesn't seem to fix this problem. Also, the options menu doesn't appear to be translated on the startup screen. I'm not sure if that's something you guys translated or not... le edit: I'm running Windows Vista.

OK.. So you have the windows Vista compatible edition right? You installed the game, and the you aplied the 1305 patch version..is so? Are you sure that the game version was 1305 before applygin the english patch? Is there a folder called "backup" in your game installation dir? Let me know.. I'm testing gain the patch on my pc. Bye

Vista compatible edition is what I have, yes. I installed it, but didn't apply a patch, the game came as the most recent version - when I go to the properties menu on the games icon it says that it is version 1.3.0.5.
There is a backup folder, but something odd did happen during the install of the english patch - maybe it's related? When I applied your english patch it put all the files into the C:\ directory instead of the YS6_WIN root folder. So I copied them into the YS6_WIN folder and ran the batch script, and it moved everything to the backup folder, creating the new english .exe files in the root folder. So everything seemed okay on that end. Like I said, the config and dx9 config utlities translated into english fine, it's just the game not working, so I'm not sure that this has anything to do with it.

Okay you moved them manually. It seems I ave to check better the registry key under Vista. Infact the installer check the regkey where the installpath is sprecified. Maybe on Win Vista the reg key is different and it need more detailed informations. BTW..if i got right what you did now you have to move inside the "release" folder that you can find inside the Ys & install folder. You will find another bat file. Run it and magically the game will run Let me know

I got the trouble:
- while on windows xp the install path is stored in the reg key HK_CURRENT_USER\Software\Falcom\Fsetup\YS6_WIN
In windows Vista the same vale is stored in another key, that is to say:
HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Falcom\Fsetup\Ys6_WIN
This is the reason why the install process over Vista was ending in a wrong way. The weird thing is that I coded the installer to check for the key and if the key is not present to stop the installation saying that the regkey was not found and to install the game before proceedin'. In your case , on the other hand, were all extracted into the root. This is weird..absolutely weird.
BTW.. I'll modify the installer a little bit in order to check the So and to look for the right reg key depending on it. Bye

Ok the new installer is ready and working: now it detects the operative system and set a different reg key to look for dependin' on it. Tomorrow I'll create a new patch and i'll put it online. Sorry for this inconvenience guys But i didn't rellay know that the two Os uses different keys. Bye Bye
