Interest now zero.
Oh well, guess I'll have to find something else to look forward to.

I'm still looking forward to it, regardless. Sure, the hacking and translation won't happen for until someone makes an appropriate patcher and patch maker, etc... who knows what else.

sadly they are both exclusive for PSP. hopefully Taito or some other company will pick it up for translation...

PSP exclusive, eh? Ouch. So, it looks like the only way to be able to play the game in English would be some company bringing the game to North America and/or Europe. It makes a fan translation significantly less likely, but hardly impossible considering most people use custom firmware and the ISO could be hacked. Pretty much everything is broken eventually. It increases the chances of an English version anyway though. Considering Atlus picked up Ys I&II for the DS I'd say it's extremely likely they'll grab this too.

:-/I'd rather have it as a PC game too. Some of my hype for the game is certainly diminished, but I don't feel like I've ever been let down by Falcom. This game will be awesome.

It wouldn't be terribly hard to do, I haven't ever worked on a psp game but I'm sure the process is pretty similar to what I used to do when I worked as a localizer. Finding time to do it is a much bigger issue.

Okay, so I'm still annoyed about this, but I feel like translating so hey.
Ys I & II Chronicles - Out in July. - 4800 Yen (5040 inc. tax) - Will use Ys I & II Complete for the PC as a base. - Will feature improved graphics and newly arranged music, along with other features.
Ys SEVEN - Out in September - 5800 Yen (6090 inc. tax) - Original story. - Will renew the combat system. - Will feature Adol, Dogi and other familiar characters. - Will also feature 'party play' (multiplayer, I guess) for the first time.

Heh, the Falcom official board honestly makes depressing reading right about now. So many long time fans, who've been with them even since the PC-88 era, going off their separate ways with this. Some're still hopeful that one day there'll be a PC port, but it really looks like Falcom doesn't care about us long time fans anymore and sees more profit in a new audience of PSP gamers.
Sigh, the thought of reading through Legend of Heroes 7 with tiny kanji, or fighting through some of the more intense bosses in Felghana and Origin using the analog nub makes me want to cry.

This is disappointing and I definitely hope they have a change of heart concerning Ys Seven somewhere along the way. Sure, I already play games on the PSP and will pick it up if it's the only way but I'd much rather play it on a big screen and with a proper pad. Last run through Origin (with the Claw) I played on a 42' screen thanks to the handy HDMI port on my current computer. The prospect of not being able to enjoy Seven in the same way is heart breaking.

Somehow, this news has actually made me happier? :'D I would actually prefer a PSP version to me tinkering around ignorantly on me PC, bothering you all like a fool about random problems I'm sure I would come across. The updates, the Japanese language settings, hopefully hoping that some kind person would translate it one day, everything, everything.... ouch. >_< Infact, it makes me hope even more (really, really hope!) that it would be picked up by someone (Atlus? Konami?? Someone???) and be brought over in English too? I mean, I enjoyed the PSP port of Ys VI very much. (Though I know you all declared it to be the worst monstrosity to ever hit mankind, with its load times. X'D) As for fan translations/patches, isn't it possible to have translation patches for PSP games? O__o I think I saw a fan translation patch for Dissidia someplace? And if that was actually real, and I didn't dream it up, that means such things are possible, ne? .....Its another thing that I suppose, if such things did exist, that no one here has made such patches. So that thought be out, I guess? Edit: - Will also feature 'party play' (multiplayer, I guess) for the first time. Hm... a controllable Dogi, perhaps?!

It's perfectly possible, though I'm pretty sure Atlus will grab it anyway. They've localised less profitable things before.
Also, this is bound to be better than the Ys 6 PSP port, because Konami did that and Falcom themselves are doing this.

Ok... so I didn't see this thread....
Well, I'm f*cking devastated by all this.
Falcom has definitely lost one of its fans.
I don't care what the rest of you console people feel, but as a PC gamer, this just sucks donkey dick. Huge donkey dick.
I'm so f*cking depressed right now. And to think I was so looking forward to it.
Even if they decide to port it to PC one day... it just won't feel the same like it was with Ys 6.
Bah. I'm outta here.

Ys 5 was only a console game after all... (the egg version doesn't count) Let's just hope they won't stop making windows games in the future.
EDIT: Ys 4 was only for consoles too.

Perhaps this is a totally unrealistic thought, but maybe they will? I mean, this is only the first bits of info that have leaked in, right? And almost all Ys(es) so far have had PC versions. And Ys VI came out on three different consoles/systems? Soooooo......... *bad attempts at cheering up*
Erm.... I'm delighted though. XD Totally~!

Also, Ys 6 is an unfair comparison because Falcom didn't make those ports!

Also, Ys 6 is an unfair comparison because Falcom didn't make those ports! Well... I... suppose so. :'D Perhaps I'm only thinking like so because its pretty much the most recent example of Falcom's games being on multiple systems? I suppose a better example would be comparing Ys I.II Complete and this recent Chronicles? (But there's almost an 8 years gap between these two ports, ne?) ...I guess I'm really trying to convince myself that there'll be a PC port, even though all evidence points to them usually doing things the opposite way around, ne? I doubt they'll simply abandon PC stuffs. Zweii II is an example of a recent new game ne? Perhaps.... they just want to cater to the 'popular' crowd first and then move onto the good old fans? :'D (Not that I have any clue whether the PSP is more popular in Japan.) Hmm.... perhaps.... they do plan to transfer the Ys series over to the PSP, as Unsavory and wyrdwad predicted??

Well I would surely prefer a PC version for sure, especially since the game would look so much nicer with a nice graphic card (which I have) and a nice HD computer monitor (which I have) and decent sound/speaker setup (which I have) for the sure to be awesome music that will be in the game.
But I'm not devastated or anything. I just means that now I'll have to get a PSP at some point (which I don't have).
Maybe in terms of sales for Falcom it makes sense to release it on PSP, but that does mean that we'll likely have to wait on a English publisher to pick it up and bring it over. I do hope they'll plan on making a PC version later though. I'm sure they will once they make sales off of the PSP version.
