Anyway, Majuunun: I still think name recognition alone will get Ys VII a good chance at being released stateside. Falcom may not be super-cool about helping foreign companies localize their products, but they still make great products that foreign companies might WANT to localize, y'know? I'm curious what Ys 6's #s were. And while the PSP sells in the US, most pubs/devs are bitching about how PSP games don't sell as well as they'd like. If Ys7 is as light on text as Gurumin is, then it's got a potential overseas release in its future. Otherwise, I see most companies, even the die hard JRPG supporters giving Falcom the finger for attitude, even if their games are good. :X

I'm curious what Ys 6's #s were. The PSP version sold 40,000 copies. I can't find any numbers for the PS2 version though.

Sorry, Atlus USA is too busy wasting their time on Garbage Japanese games like Tokyo Beat Down, Steambot Chronicles, and Class of Heroes to bring over an actual decent JRPG to the West. Besides Shin Megami Tensei that is, which they only bring over because the series fell into their lap

Eh, Atlus USA mostly peddles bottom of the barrel JRPGs (did you see those awful 360 SRPGs they published last year). Every once in the while they'll pick up a gem, like Crimson Gem Saga, but the fact that when they finally localize a Falcom game, it turns out to be the Godawful DS port of I and II pisses me off to no end.
As for Tokyo Beat Down, it's made by the same dev house that does those trashy Oneechambara games. The script looks funny, but the gameplay seems awful and unpolished.
I only just learned of falcom recently; though, so my butthurt over all of their unreleased games is maximum.

Hmm, but regardlessly of all that, now that I thought about it, perhaps Ys SEVEN is too much for their budget to translate, like a Sora no Kiseki game... =s Well, if worse comes to worst, we will have to wait for the PC version, and then wait for a patch. Then understand it while playing the (supposedly) best version. Meanwhile, I could try learning some japanese and stop being a slacker for a change.

I've always seen Atlus as the company that will release just about anything, unless it's far too long. I can't see how some of the games they've localised turn a profit. I don't see why they wouldn't localise 7 though - it's Ys, it's not going to have huge amounts of text like a Legend of Heroes game.
Also, while the Ys 6 dub may be earsplittingly painful, the original Japanese isn't any better. I've seen doujin games and bottom tier eroge with better line delivery.

Terra was the only one I didn't like. I LOVED the guys with the speech impedements! I mean, what's wrong with them, it's not like we don't have people with speech impedements in real life? I guess it helps that the guy who did the kid with the slurry words, was the same guy who did Rattrap, Waspinator, Silverbolt, & Dinobot in Beast Wars, which I loved(though, used to hate until I realised it was a direct sequal to the OG Transformers, except several hundred years in the future), & he actually used the same voice for Rattrap as he did for the slurry word kid(except Rattrap didn't slur his speech). Anyways, I loved the voice acting, sometimes, I wonder if people really know what good voice acting is. People that can play many roles with many different voices are the ones that I dig & impress me personally. People complain about Suikoden Teirkries as well, especially the main character, & I'll admit, he was wierd at first, but, then again, I know people who talk like him in real life! So, I got used to his voice, cuz it's something I hear from time to time. Not everyone can sound like Patrick Stewart, now can they?

Indeed, I think Ys VI's case was the ONLY ONE in which I chose the english voices over the japanese, original ones. <_< The japanese ones were utter crap, while the english ones, in my opinion, were quite good.

The English dub for Ys VI was pretty good, in my opinion. The acting could get campy, but always in a good way (want me to crush yer walls!).
I loved the Pickard guy with the English accent.

For me, good voice acting is when the person sounds natural and not obviously directly reading from the script and faking emotions. I mean, I would think that we all interact with people on a daily basis so we can tell pretty much right off the bat when speech is unnatural. :/ I think the dialogue has something to do with it too though.
