I asked Atlus PR about bringing Ys over and this was their response: Hopefully it's just a standard line and they've got something to announce at TGS, but... I'm not that optimistic. Definitely still worth emailing them/posting on their messageboards about it though. They won't know people want it if they don't say so.

Savory, consider yourself lucky they even replied! That's cool. But don't forget, a full year elapsed between the JPN and US release of Ys DS and 1.5 years for Shiren 3. In other words, they're in no rush. But the constant bumping of the support thread on their forum as well as personal interventions such as yours should speed things up a bit.

Savory, consider yourself lucky they even replied! It's funny you say that because I've tried twice and of course... no response. Though maybe it's a good point; I wonder if I pester them with emails if it will make things go quicker or they'll just get annoyed. I was feeling pretty good about the thread on Atlus's site but some of those other games have a crazy number of views/replies. I think the game will get picked up, I just want it to happen soon.

Just to be clear, I was referring to a less rude version of email bombing them. I'd love to hear the conversation that spawns:
Jim: Boss, I got -another- email from that annoying guy. Can we just translate Ys 7 already? My inbox has been full for the last 13 weeks...
Boss: Better yet Jim, let's send him a virus and tell him it's a special Ys program.
Jim: Yeah, I did but he's using public computers to bother us too.
Boss: Crap, well lets get to work then.

We could always, you know, bitch about it online and have video cameras running showing us boycotting Atlus at our computer desks. ...sounds familiar... Hey, how's Bob's Game doing?! XD

Savory, consider yourself lucky they even replied! Haha! Yeah, I actually snuck it in with a question about a game I'm reviewing so they had to respond one way or another. He did leave it kind of open and like you said, it can take some time for these games to make it abroad so no one should give up hope. I would definitely post your interest in their forums and write them a nice email telling them you'd love to see them publish the new Ys games. They're pretty receptive to that. I'm probably going to pester Ignition next.

Isn't Ignition the one who screwed over Muramasa and that one DS game? If so, I'm with wyrdwad. Better to never translate it at all, than to let a company defecate on it.

I ended up modding my Wii since nintendo still seems to stand by region locking, but since neither of my roommates know any Japanese, I ended up waiting on muramasa until it was released in English. At least they left the voices.

Yeah, that's them. Lux-Pain was the other one. So, does that mean Lux-Pain is actually a good, well-made game, originally? xD Because seriously, I don't think I have ever seen worse crap.

My latest email to them word for word: "Atlus, please bring Ys 7 to North America. If you do, I will love you forever." Too overbearing?

Sup LunarTakiro lol
Anyway they're being pretty tight-lipped these days IMO, even if they are working on it we're not gonna hear any announcements about it until months and months after they've got the license and starter on the project.

What email are you guys sending this to? I've been using the 'Contact Us' section on their website and sending it to their PR. Not sure if everyone else is doing it that way as well.

Isn't Sakura Taisen V supposed to be the worst game in the whole series, though? -Tom Moot! HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION: If a solid localization company was bringing over, say, the very first Ys game western gamers had ever seen, but it was the worst, it would still be a step in the right direction. I'm not getting my hopes up, but if that does well, we could see them enhance their necromancy skills on the rest of the series!

My latest email to them word for word: "Atlus, please bring Ys 7 to North America. If you do, I will love you forever." Too overbearing? I doubt they'll bring over a game just for that. They'll probably just chuckle at the mail though. XD Say, Atlus has a Facebook page too~! People should go start up something there! :P

Next time I email them, I'll tell them I'm making a collage of all our good times together.
