Brandish character development is really weak compared with Origin if you ask me.
And due to that system/artwork/platform change, I'm feeling someway between "with zero interest" and "hyped". It does and does not feel like Ys seeing those things. I guess it's a ~wait to see~ case.
And anyway, why Adol uses a Knife now? Really that artwork is really strange for me, is Adol holding a Kokori Sword?

To be fair, doesn't Adol always start out with a short sword or summat?

Yeah, but in the real games, I mean.

Mail magazine says the official site is going to open either the first or second third of April.

Yeah, but in the real games, I mean. No, except for Ys VI and YsF. But in Ys VI it's a Long Sword, and in YsF it's a Short Sword (but still not a knife or Kokori Sword xDD). Red Hairdo: You didn't know about the Tengai Makyou Collection on PSP? Yeah, between that and the PSP port of Apocalypse IV (which is pretty much perfect!), the whole series is now available on PSP, save for Namida and the old handheld titles. It's cool. As for Tengai Makyo on the PSP, I own the PSP port of Tengai Makyo IV (as well as the Saturn version) and, as previously stated, it is pretty much perfect. Why couldn't Atlus translate THAT?? Yeah, more Kabuki madness! I really like that series, even though I can't understand a single word.

Meh, I think I'm just going to sit out the stalking of Ys 7 scans/info and wait until the game's actually out before making any judgment calls on it.
Totally digging pseudo-lolified Feena for Chronicles though. Reah scan next yesplz Falcom. ...You didn't hear that from me. No siree Bob.

Nice find! Thanks, man! Here's hoping it's reliable. These pictures are sweet, though. Apparantly, you can select Adol, Dogi, or the chick -- whether or not you select them like in Origin, or like in Secret of Mana, remains a curiousity.

My guess is that Magic Box is being unreliable. If it did come out on both platforms I would likely still get the PSP version since I would not have to worry about changing language settings on the PC.

None of those images are new and Magic Box is known for making things up. Given that no Japanese source I'm aware of has announced a dual system release and they've got the date wrong I'm going to say the whole thing's bunk. Doesn't mean there won't be a PC version eventually but if there is, this isn't confirmation of it.

Fingers crossed for a PC release, at least. I would greatly prefer it, but if it turns out PSP exclusive when the launch comes, that won't hold me back any.
I really love what they're doing letting you control Aisha and Dogi, though. I know Adol is the mainstay of Ys, but having 3 options in Origin is part of why I loved it so much. I welcome the trend!

I think a PC release will come out eventually, but that site definitely made things up.

Sweet! ...and... not so sweet. I hope Falcom does something about the god-awful textures in that first boss battle picture. The chest of that reptilian beast looks inexcusably pixelated, like something I'd see out of Crisis Core!

Sorry, stuff like that became inevitable as soon as they chose to put it on a handheld

I don't see what that has to do with it. Textures can't take up that much space, can they? I mean, I'm not sure what the industry standard is for compressed textures, or how well the PSP can hold up with finer detail, but I'm pretty sure it's quite possible to efficiently and sufficiently texture a model without sacrificing anything. I mean, there's just no excuse for those textures looking like a god-damn Atari mosaic! Look at Ys VI PSP -- the lowered graphical quality wasn't even that bad compared to this.
Now, I'm not saying that graphics are everything and that it's going to ruin my life if I have to suffer through a few Atari lookin' mosaics, (I enjoyed Crisis Core just fine, and it was full of horrid pixelated textures!) but I'd be ticked if Falcom turned Ys Seven into an entirely half-assed effort. I mean, that's two for two now, illustrations AND in-game graphics. Now it's down to gameplay, and the soundtrack. Something's gotta hold up, this is Falcom after all!

Ugh. STILL not liking the character artwork.
However, the scenery and stuff are gorgeous! Altago looks big! o.o~!
Yeah, this game would have definitely looked better on the PC. :( Ah well, hope it plays well! (Heh, looks like Dogi's punching the boss in the last screenshot in the right column XD!!!!)
Also, it really looks like the player can control any of the party members one at a time. The more I think about the combat controls, the more methinks of something like the Seiken Densetsu series.
Those elemental skills in the little circle ... I wonder if how those are mapped? I thought that it might be to the action buttons (X, O, etc.) but then, I would figure they have regular attacks and since there are 4 slots in the circle ... Maybe you have use the shoulder buttons to switch between sets of attacks -- i.e. regular and special? :/
Or maybe the top slot is empty indicating a regular attack? Or maybe you rotate the skills into that slot to activate them? Argh!!!!!!

Yeah, I really wish they hadn't included those renders and stuff. I don't need any more reminders that I'd rather see this on PC guys, stop it.
As for the buttons... I dunno. I suppose they could do a Tales and have it hold a button and direction to activate them? I hope it's not something silly like the D-Pad, forcing you to use the analog nub to move. Not letting me move with the D-Pad is enough to make me not play the game altogether.
