And expecting a translation of a DRAMA CD sounds like a joke... 'v_v Not really! Quite often people just turn a picture into a video, add the drama CD audio and do it like a fansub.

I'm just going to assume it's already happened in one of the games I haven't played... or possibly the anime, or even a previous CD release (thus making this stupid to say!), but the concept of Adol dialogue is mindblowing! O:

Adol was voiced by the same guy that does Ky Kiske in Guilty Gear, and some other popular names.

Yeah, Adol was voiced in the anime, and he also had written dialogue (though it was unvoiced) in every version of Ys III except Ys: The Oath in Felghana. -Tom Wrong! In Ys III PS2 he has written AND spoken dialogue. It is the ONLY Ys game in which you can actually hear his voice. (Though you can also hear him in the animes, like you pointed out.) Join us, Wyrd. Jooooooooin~~ By the way, I think talkative-Adol (mostly seen in Ys III and MotS) is much more fun than silent Adol. Unfortunately though, I don't think Falcom will give him dialogue ever again... in-game, at least. xD

Though I did enjoy his dialogue in the anime. DALEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES...!! *Cleria swing* xD Whenever Adol talks, it's so fun to watch/hear/read. Hm, I do wonder if he will sound anything like he did in previous Ys stuff.

Did Adol have written dialogue even in the versions of Ys III made by Falcom (PC98, MSX, etc)?

So he was voiced in a game! Interesting, indeed. O:
Hmmm... mayhaps I should pester Lumi to let me watch the Ys anime!

Heh~ I can imagine that we can illustrate it ourselves with stick people renditions then accompany them with subs. :DDD I think Falcom would get a kick out of that. (Although I wonder if anyone there really goes around YouTube ...)

AFAIK, all versions of Ys III used the same dialogue (in Japanese, anyway), which was taken from those originals. -Tom Exactly. Though the whole game script is a bit different in the PS2 version. (But I think the main dialogues remained exactly like always.) He also spoke a bit in Ys II, Ranzor.

He also spoke a bit in Ys II, Ranzor. Did he? Which version? I don't remember it.

... EVERY version. XD
The moment Ys II starts, Adol directly speaks to Lilia. xD "Me? I am Lilia, from Rance village!"
He also talks a bit more later in the game in the Runaway Hideout located in the sewers of Solomon Shrine, at least in the TCD version. I think that may also be true in most versions (I have yet to play many of them to the end, as well).
... Adol also talks to himself in the TCD version of Ys I in the Solomon Shrine the moment he reaches that part where he has to wear the Mask of Eyes to cross through a wall. xD
By the way, in Ys II Special, Adol talks A LOT, like in Ys III. (Cool, cool game by the way.)

In Ys II complete he says "Who are you" and "Where Am I?" To Lillia in the first conversation. His text appears in blue.
Also another reason I don't like the Turbo Duo version of Ys III is because most characters are voice except for him. It's stupid to have a back and forth conversation, but only voice one side of it.
I'm not sure if he was ever meant to be a Silent Protaginist, there just isn't always a need for him to talk.

I'm not a fan of Silent Protagnists in general, because I don't think it works. They aren't representing me, they just lack personality. It's one thing in a game that lets you create a character, or rename them at least, and give them actual decisions, not just a choice between 2 answers that don't affect anything. Adol is Adol, and he is following the storyline, not the player, so develop him a bit. Plus in other games it just becomes a liability, because other players will act as the silent protagonists mouth piece, and convey the thoughts of the group anyway.

So he was voiced in a game! Interesting, indeed. O: Hmmm... mayhaps I should pester Lumi to let me watch the Ys anime! Guess I know what I'm loaning you on the next get together. If I'm not terribly mistaken, Adol's seiyuu from the OAVs was Takeshi Kusao. He tends to take on a lot of the classic 'heroic character' archetypes like Adol. He was Parn in Lodoss Wars, Ky Kiske in Guilty Gear, Cless Alvein in Tales of Phantasia, and oh so many more. He's swung some badguy roles too, but the hero type seems to really be up his alley. He's VERY much a veteran anime voice. Dunno who the dub actor was. I didn't actually watch the Ys OAV in English, because it came out slightly before we started getting a stable core of GOOD English VAs.... ^^; Personally, I don't HATE silent Adol, but I do wish they'd just give up the ghost and make him a genuine protagonist these days. Origin had three of them and it was so much the better for it, I think. Personality is a good thing, and you can only get the supporting cast to imply so many aspects of your main's persona without him/her actually speaking up.

And English voice actors should make Dogi sound like a dude-bro. LAWLZ. It's so wrong, yet I could totally see (hear?) it. Would this mean that one could define Adol and Dogi's relationship as a bromance? Random factoid on the note of the Ys OAV voices again: Adol was voiced in English by Dave Wittenberg, albeit credited (or so I read) under a different name. The guy's done a metric crapton of voices in video games and anime. Guess I might hafta peek at the English version after all...

Nice. I hope this game is hard. By the way, it makes me recall some Tales of games. And this title looks like it will be PSP's best. In all seriousness. EDIT: Oh, there's a sixth character. Looks like that blue-haired swordsman from the first Tengai Makyou game. xD I don't think this is Scias though. He's already labeled as "Key Character" instead of "Party Character" in Ys SEVEN's website. EDIT2: Karna should totally join this game. EDIT3: Oooh, look! In that picture I put up here shows something neat; look at the item shown next to Adol's HP bar. It is Ys VI's [GRATIOS TALISMAN]! For those who don't remember, it was given lent to him by Baslam, who originally is an Altago merchant. That item made the wearer breath under the water. I think the item's description revealed it had some connection to some Altago Water God or something. (Gratios?)
