www.falcom.co.jp/vantage/index_e.htmlAs many people here know, "Vantage Master Online" is a Falcom game that can be downloaded for free in their own website with online manuals and such, as you can see in the link above. It is the engRish version of "Vantage Master V2" translated by Falcom themselves. (Though from what I heard, "Vantage Master V2" couldn't be downloaded like that.) Anyway, I always wondered: why did Falcom go through the trouble to bring this game to the english-speaking communities all over the world? Perhaps they tried to make it popular enough so that western companies would start localizing the other entries of the series? It doesn't quite seem to be so, to me. Voice your thoughts. =) (Also, whoever is a fan of Ys and/or turn-based strategy/RPG games should totally be playing this. Well, the game has Adol and Feena & Reah as two playable characters. You can check out how to use them here.)

That sounds cool, and plausible. (Btw, I just downloaded the .exe installer and tried to run it, but when I double-click it, nothing happens. Why is that...? EDIT: Hm, apparently it opens and closes intantly, in the blink of an eye. I never experienced this before...)

Good ol' Windows XP... I remember I could install it back in 2005 on a Windows XP as well. =/ Very strange... (Also, apparently MP83 managed to install it, but when he configs the game to use MIDI files, it freezes. Strange.) Hmmm... so you guys think Falcom kind of did it on a whim of sorts?? xDDD That'd be weird, but who knows. I'm sure glad they did it.

Oh damn. Falcom didn't translate story mode dialogue. xD

Yeah all of the story mode segments are like that. Thankfully it's not the type of game you play for the story anyway.

"Adol was yet to move to another land, leaving another damsel lost in love behind, for that is Adol Christin. No matter where he goes, hope will always be there." "Translating" that stuff is fun. xD Anyway, I'm playing this game like a setenced man. It's being enjoyed. I'll try playing with Feena & Reah on my Normal playthrough. xD

I considered starting over to use Adol when I found out about him, but decided against it, since I don't attack with my commander anyway. He just sits back like a little bitch and the summoned monsters do all the work.

Thx. =] But... It's because I tried it on my aunt's PC = differente PC xD But! I think even VMJ would work there... I hope my aunt will forgive me for installing tons of warez in her PC. Btw adoRoo, I tried VMP once and... I think it sucks. A lot. The worst VM I played so far. In my opinion, of course.

Bingo. Hahaha, but there's more to it, really. xD (Also, note that I never played VM v1, but only v2... and VMP ) Actually I think it's mostly because of the language barrier; I couldn't figure out a thing in the game. And when I played VMP, it had been 4 years since I last played a Vantage Master game (VMO in 2005), so I had forgotten everything. ... To be honest I should play it again, because now that I played some VMO again after these 4 long years, I have recalled most things. ... Yeah, perhaps I should take back what I said. XD I'll try it again sometime to see what I honestly think of the game, in fair terms. Sorry adoRoo.

lol xD I just decided to finish VMOnline with Adol (on Easy...*ahem*, "Easy") today... and what the hell?? xD An ending plays, but it's too bizarre! Thankfully, it's at least in engRish, surprisingly, but it's pretty weird. ' Feena & Reah appear out of nowhere and start talking to themselves... apparently they were debating about all of Adol's statuses or whatever, then they summoned 2 of the strongest Natiel to attack him. He kills them with his sword. Then he casts the "conjurate" spell on the Goddesses, turning them into stone, and leaves... XD Then a message appears: "New journeys are waiting for Adol..." or something. The Goddesses later return to their normal selves, and say something like "Wow, luckily his magic power wasn't too high!" xD The spell conjurate lasts longer the higher the user's magic power is, by the way. It's funny. Just thought I could put it up here. xD The credits are also displayed awesomely, with equally good music. =) To think EACH character in the game has an ending like that... very nice. Well, time to finish my playthrough with the Goddesses (Easy), and start a new one with Adol on Normal. xD

You never did?? xD You really should. The last stage can be a bit difficult, but like usual, there're always a few paths to victory. I think my Lv. was 30 or so, so there are about 30 stages in total, at least on my Easy playthrough. Btw, I'll say again, the credits are really nice.

Ok, downloaded the game but there's no music. Any ideas why it is so?

You have to set the game to play MIDI music instead of CD-DA (which is set by default). You can do so in Options/Config./whatever the game calls it.

That's strange. I changed it to MIDI and there's still no music. The only sound I'm getting is the annoying sound effect of selecting something. Does music play always in the game?

You're the first one to experience this, Ranzor, as far as I know. Something is fishy. Perhaps Wyrdwad's suggestion is the way to go.

Wyrd was right! For some reason the "SW Synth" was turned all the way down in my volume levels. Now everything's working fine. Thanks guys!
