So now the airing is about 2 months away, and more and more information is starting to come out, I thought it was about time to make a thread about this. Seen as it's about the only upcoming anime I care about right now.
The premise of the story is pretty simple. The story is set on a privately owned, barely 10km wide, island called Rokkenjima across two days in 1986. Kinzou Ushiromiya, the head of the prestigious Ushiromiya family, is approaching his last days and so a family conference is called over how to divide the inheritance - most of the siblings are in dire financial circumstances and each thinks they need the money more than the others.
And then, a typhoon strikes the island. Communication with the outside world is cut off completely. What follows is a series of inexplicable serial murders, believed to be the work of the golden witch, Beatrice, who is said to have long inhabited the island and supplied Kinzou with his fortune. But is it the work of the witch? Or is it one of the family members? Or is it someone else? Can you solve the mysteries, or will you be forced to submit to Beatrice?
The series will be animated by the majority of the same staff that worked on the adaptation of the writer's previous work, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. After a slightly lacking performance with the first series, they delivered a solid adaptation of Kai, and are delivering an even better one for Rei, the OVA series. The Umineko anime is going to go one step further, using arranges of the incredible game music, with dai, one of the main two composers for the game, as musical director.
