other than that character image with the bright pink armor Pink is the manliest colour. Technically true. Manly men who love other manly men love manly colours. NIIICE SONG WYRD. Really makes one wonder what's at number one. Although I could have said that after ANY entry.

Hey, that pink armor kicks ass, yo! Super-duper stylish, I say. Anyway, #9's up... and what a surprise, it's Falcom again! Sorry Cronorei, but there's your alternative to Altago. -Tom

Well, they'd be less predictable for most people, but for those of you who know my tastes, they're actually REALLY predictable! Heheheheh Oh, great, I'm waiting for a particular theme to come out, and it fits perfectly with your tastes ! I didn't expect to see the theme THIS high in the ranking, so I'll wait and see ^_^

#5's up! Sorry if it seems rushed - it is. I'm up to my neck in work right now. It might be a few days again before I get to upload #4. Much love~~~~~ <3 <3 <3 One of the best tracks on the Wild Arms OST~!

My respect for the Wild ARMs world map theme was sort of shattered after realising that it's almost a direct lift from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I know the point of the soundtrack is that it's borrowing musical ideas from old Western films anyway, but I think that track definitely crosses the line between homage and outright plagiarism. It's still a nice track, but I can't take it seriously anymore, as I just end up hearing it as The Ecstasy of Gold being played on the Playstation sound chip~ That Vantage Master one is really cool, though. I've never played the game before, but I'm definitely feeling the same 'quintessential overworld' thing about it as you. ^^

Wow... you're not kiddin'! I never noticed that before... I still love the Wild Arms overworld theme, though, plagiarized or no. -Tom Hee, I hadn't seen the film since I was very little, and it was only on rewatching it a couple of years ago that I went 'Hey, that's Wild ARMs's world map theme!'. But It's still a great song, no doubt, and one that works incredibly well as a world map theme. ^_^ While searching to see if anyone had made a comparison video, I found that apparently Wild ARMs IV's battle theme does it too. Not quite as blatant as copying a lead melody, and not enough that I noticed, but certainly a nod to a very distinctive part of a Western song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ2sURDC6ZI

I'm replaying Dragon Quest IV on the DS right now since my TV died and now I obviously can't use my PS3, but anyway, the point is that I realized how great the overworld theme in this game is. There are five variations of it (one for each chapter), but posting them all would be too much, so here's the main hero's version, which also happens to be my favorite:

(I don't believe it's even credited in the WA OST booklet. ^^) And then, I proceeded to check out the original tune~! I like both! ^o^~

*blink blink* Done already? This is what I get for not checking this board for a few days, I suppose...
#4 is the song I've secretly been waiting the whole time for -- whenever I got to the world map in that game, I'd just let the game sit there for a few minutes while I soak in the overworld theme before moving on.
#1 is also a very, very good choice -- not especially surprising, but definitely worthy of the spot.
(And I haven't played any of the Popolocrois games yet, but #2 is really, really catchy!)

Also, YAAAAY OPOONA IN YOUR NOW PLAYING!! (: What do you think so far? I haven't really played it enough to really judge yet (I've only played around 2 hours so far, give or take -- I'll probably post in the Currently Playing thread once I'm further in), but I'm enjoying it so far. The game as a whole is kinda cute, and the music is nice (it's neat to hear Sakimoto do something in a more contemporary style for a change). It's probably a good thing that the game world seems to be opening up slowly at this point, or else I'd probably spend hours running around the dome instead of actually getting on with the missions. :p The "go on ranger quests outside the domes" parts seem to be the most boring and uninspired part of the game so far (even though the battle system itself is fairly fun), and in most RPGs it seems like that would basically be the "meat" of the game, not running around in town. I'm actually enjoying the latter more so far, which is pretty much what I was hoping for from the game.

Now that is a game I NEED to get back to! I kept letting myself get entangled in the gambling aspect. Actually, I think I did make a little bit of progress... something about chasing... dogs? I actually brought Opoona here with me to play while I was babysitting.
