Approved by Queen. I didn't mind this trailer, personally. If another one is to be considered, I'd suggest showing what exactly is new to this version of I & II, and why people should consider this over that horrid DS port; a stab at Atlus for their stab at Deuce, yeh? The definitive Ys I & II experience, perhaps? :> --Joshua

The problem with it (and the other Ys trailers) is that everything about it reeks of being some little kid's first AMV. It's just really shoddy, and quite frankly I can't believe people are getting paid for this.

Sorry Tom, I love you guys and all but all of your Ys trailers have been pretty awful so far and this one's no exception. The font and text in general in particular look really amateurish, and I'm... not sure how well this whole 'hair metal hair metal hair metal' thing is going to go down. The problem with it (and the other Ys trailers) is that everything about it reeks of being some little kid's first AMV. It's just really shoddy, and quite frankly I can't believe people are getting paid for this. This is pretty much what I've been saying from the beginning. From a purely technical standpoint, the trailers are very amateurish and generic (I said they look like someone slapped them together in Windows Movie Maker in about five minutes). If I had to put my finger on it, the producer(s) of the trailers don't seem to understand the concept of visual style, which would intuitively tell them what would be cohesive or dissonant in a trailer. Except for the "Epic Storyteller" Felghana trailer, every XSEED Ys trailer I've seen has been sorely lacking in this department (and the font switches in the Storyteller trailer unfortunately suggest that the cohesion during the voiced segments was just a fluke...). If another one is to be considered, I'd suggest showing what exactly is new to this version of I & II, and why people should consider this over that horrid DS port; a stab at Atlus for their stab at Deuce, yeh? Wait, what? I have very little respect for those who don't show their "competition" the same; a cheap-shot against another translator -- their predecessor, no less -- is a serious faux-pas in my book. I'd say the same for smear-campaign ads (in other words, I find most politicians and Apple insulting). I'm very curious to know exactly what they said about Deuce.

Not exactly a direct quote, but I recall it saying the "definitive storyline", or something to that effect.
However, I don't think it was meant to be an attack of any kind. [:

Bullshit marketing jargon at work. What else is new...? Let's see: The translation isn't "ultimate", nor is the Ys story "famous" (it has a cult following at best). The rest of the statement is true; I felt the translation was more substantial and lively than Deuce's. Points for mentioning that it is only the most substantial version to date. Beautifully-rendered 3D graphics? WHERE? WHERE? All I see is simple polygons with the original spritework copy-and-pasted onto 'em. The lesson: never trust bullet points on the back of a game/movie/anything package. According to the bullet points, Megaman X5 and X6 might have actually been good.

Megaman X5 was good, though. >_>

Megaman X5 was good, though. >_> I'll stand in defense of X5. The only things I hate about it are the time limit, boss leveling aspect (and only because you had to piss around until bosses would start dropping power ups), and the GnR-inspired localized boss names Though back on the quality of the promo videos, I thought we were already aware that XSEED needs a good graphic artist?

I love XSEED for the games they're bringing us, but I have to admit they remind me of Working Designs in both the good and the bad ways. And yes, these trailers are another notch to the "horribly amateurish" post for me. --though, admittedly, the comment feedback seems to be largely positive, so I guess it's doing its job regardless. There's no accounting for some tastes. . .

I don't believe anyone (except wyrd wad tom, of course) legitimately likes these trailers. Most of the people who comment on Youtube are probably just dick riders who, after XSEED started localizing Falcom games, would praise anything XSEED does to high heaven.
I mean, I love XSEED too, don't get me wrong, but these trailers are objectively bad.

Hey. Hey, guys.
At least the trailers have some semblance of creativity.

Sure, I suppose if you search long enough you'll find some little thing to say, "at least there's that" about. Which would be fine if this really was some little kid's first AMV, but it's not; it's something that was paid for, and made by a "professional".

I don't believe anyone (except wyrd wad tom, of course) legitimately likes these trailers. Thank you for telling me my opinion, sir. Apparently I illegitimately like the hair metal trailer? The game itself is old and corny, the trailer just fits. That and it made me laugh

Then you should feel bad for encouraging XSEED to put out more trailers of this atrocious quality.

Oh dear, is it against the rules to be insistent in one's criticism of XSEED-related things now? I'm only responding because people give me stuff to respond to, you know. Ah well, it's almost time for Higgy, anyway.

I actually sort of like this trailer. I agree that it's pretty much horrible, but it's also really lulzy and amusing. Definitely an attention grabber, if nothing else.

I don't see why it even matters, personally.
But hey, what do I know? ^_^

I enjoyed the trailer. I also still listen to 80's hair metal bands, so laugh, whine, besmirch my opinion. I am one of the ones who actually liked it because I liked it, not because I'm hopping on XSEED's dick.
My girlfriend even got a kick out of it too (she's a gamer, just hasn't played Ys), and she might even start playing Ys because of my praise and the three trailers she's seen for Seven, OiF and I & II Chronicles, so keep it up XSEED. I await the TitS trailers.

I can't wait for XSEED to showcase their TitS either.

This would actually be a very good marketing strategy. By holding a contest for best trailer, you'd not only get quality publicity, but further publicity from the contest itself. And it might not even cost you more than a free SE package or something like that.
And I don't want to play HJ advocate, as I know he just likes to be ascerbic/offensive, but (irony police here) bashing on other people's opinions unflinchingly and without end is something you yourself, Wyrd Wad Tom, have done to me at least seven times, and to others on an innumerable basis. (not trying to be mean or offensive or confrontational, just noting a shared pattern)

Good thing I stayed out for a while.
Anyways, this might be my last or second last day one purchase for a long time. (ended up getting a new car after the old one started falling to pieces).
Edit: by the way Wyrd, I'm sure I skipped it at some point, but there isn't gonna be a LE for this, is there? (still gonna get it either way)
