Ok, I need help. I reached Dahm in Ys II Chronicles but I'm busy trying to max out the stats. Where is the fastest place to level up? or is there one??? I know for sure 100% in Ys Eternal Story. The best place to level up was defeating those two guards just outside Ramia Villiga before entering Solomon Shrine, but this isnt the case for chronicles.... they barely even give any exp. Do you know that section of Solomon Shrine in which there is both that Palace of the Goddesses and that place where Maria was in? (Campanile of Lane or something.) Stay there. Campanile? Yeah, that place is good.

Yeah, that's my interpretation of "Morning Grow" too! Anyway, I also have that problem with the site where those links were posted: they don't send me an e-mail for me to register. ): Won't anyone send me the OST? Pretty please?

So, I decided to try it out, and I have to say... 'eeeeeeeh'. It's not bad by any means, but after getting used to Complete, it's kinda awkward. I love the HUD, though. And FINALLY I can actually hear the PC-88 music! (I'm old-school ) The loading times are very noticeable, even though they're still quite short. Using the method I did in Complete to grind at the beginning of the game takes a lot longer because of it (run straight out the exit of Barbado and hump the tree thingy, then go back and repeat). Also, it's almost 1GB as a .cso. :E EDIT: ranzor, here's the links: Part 1Part 2

Sorry. I'd have uploaded them myself, but FileDen only allows 50MB files max, and I didn't really want to have to split them into too many parts. :/

Ys Chronicles was pretty much a disappointment to me after playing through it. I personally think Digicube did a better job at porting it and giving it some extra spice. I also like the old art work better than the new artwork. On the plus side, I really enjoyed the music and playing through it once again. Only Ys 7 can save my hope in the series...

I don't want to say anything just because of the possibility of getting jumped on by Ys fans right away So I should probably not give any reason other than some people might agree with me being disappointed by Ys Chronicles.

Not around here, nobody would be bothered.
Especially since you're a Canadian. That makes you cool x10.

Thanks for the links, everybody!
Got to say I'm slightly disappointed. There are plenty of good tracks, First Step Towards Wars improved massively compared to the Complete version. But overall the soundtrack kinda lacks variety in its arrangements, too much screechy guitars. Those are cool for a handful of heavy rearrangements, but when applied to the entire in-game soundtrack it gets kinda grating. The violin bits are really beautiful though.

Hm, I don't think I said this anywhere else other than the Spam thread, but... Let's say I may even be more disappointed than you were. The only good thing about this port is the OST. I'm with you there. However, my hope for the Ys series or whatever isn't at stake. I always liked it, and I always will. People usually forget just HOW MANY Ys games there are. If you count title by title, version by version, it even surpasses all the Mega Man series together, in a way, in quantity. This port was a failure, but there are so many Ys I/IIs different from one another. I'm still on my way to finish them all, myself. Anyway, no need to place your hope on Ys 7 or whatever: you still have so many Ys games to rely on, many of which I don't think you even saw. Heheh. Try Ys I for X68000, for example. Then Ys III PS2. Then Ys I NES. Then both Ys IV and V on the PS2, which DO have their own nice exclusivenesses. And I'm not sure if you played those, but then there's, YsOrigin, YsOiF, and even 3 DS Ys games, Ys III X68000 (best "normal" version of Ys III). Ys ETERNAL (not to confuse with Ys I COMPLETE, Ys I ETERNAL STORY or Ys I Chronicles). Not to mention I'm pretty sure Ys 7 will kick ass. So you can wait for it too.

Are you sure about that Megaman comment? There are over 100 Megaman games across all the series. Your point still stands, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong in that way.
It is weird! Even after I've heard all this stuff (bad stuff) about it, I still am DYING to play it.

I sent this to MP83 once, but here goes it, for everyone to see:
(Note: Cellphone games not included.)
Ys I got released for: X68000, X-1, PC-8801, PC-9801, FM-7, FM-77, FM-77AV, Apple2gs, MSX2, Famicom/Nintendo, Sega Master System, PC-Engine/TurboGrafx 16 (Ys Book I & II), Sega Saturn (Falcom Classics), MS-DOS, Nintendo DoubleScreen, PlayStation2 (Ys I・II ETERNAL STORY), PlayStation Portable (Ys I & II Chronicles), Windows (PC) (Ys ETERNAL and Ys I-II COMPLETE).
Ys II got released for: X-1, PC-8801, PC-9801, FM-7, FM-77, FM-77AV, MSX2, Famicom/Nintendo, PC-Engine/TurboGrafx 16 (Ys Book I & II), Sega Saturn (Falcom Classics II), MS-DOS (Ys II Special), Nintendo DoubleScreen, PlayStation2 (Ys I・II ETERNAL STORY), PlayStation Portable (Ys I & II Chronicles), Windows (PC) (Ys II ETERNAL and Ys I-II COMPLETE).
Ys III got released for: X68000, PC-8801, PC-9801, MSX2, Famicom/Nintendo, Super Famicom/Super Nintendo, Mega Drive/Genesis, PC-Engine/TurboGrafx 16, PlayStation2.
Ys IV got released for: Super Famicom/Super Nintendo, PC-Engine/TurboGrafx 16, PlayStation2.
Ys V got released for: Super Famicom/Super Nintendo (Ys V and Ys V Expert), PlayStation2.
Ys VI got released for: PlayStation2, PlayStation Portable, Windows (PC).
Other Ys and Ys-related games: - Ys ORIGIN (Windows PC) - Ys: The Oath in Felghana (Windows PC) - Zwei!! (the Windows PC version has 'Typing of Ys' within) - Zwei 2 (Windows PC, has Ys cameos) - Vantage Master v2 (a.k.a. Online) (Windows PC, has Adol, and Feena and Reah as playable characters) - Vantage Master Japan: Mystic Far East (only the Windows PC version, since it has an expansion disc that includes Lilia and Dark Fact as playable characters) - Vantage Master Japan: Power-Up Kit (Windows PC, it's the expansion disc I mentioned above) - Ys SEVEN [PSP, other platform(s)] - Ys Strategy (DS) - Ys Online: The Call of Solum (Windows PC, released in Korea, Japan and Europe) - Segagaga (Dreamcast, has an Ys cameo)
Also, only Ys I and Ys II had anime releases, and Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys was planned too, but got canceled, as well as the Ys Strategy OVA(s?). Also as far as anime goes, there is one 'City Hunter' anime episode with a "Falcom - Ys" cameo.
There are many official Ys mangas and novels too, but I don't know about them too much.
Also I suspect there are Ys-related things in other three Vantage Master games: 'Vantage Master', 'Minna no Vantage Master 1' and 'Minna no Vantage Master 2', but I'm not sure. (If they do, the only Vantage Master games that don't have an Ys cameo are 'Vantage Master Portable' and the port of 'Vantage Master Japan: Mystic Far East' for PS2.)

Even after I've heard all this stuff (bad stuff) about it, I still am DYING to play it. I did count once. There are a bit less than 100 Mega Man games. I would have to re-count though, because as of lately, many Mega Man games from the .EXE universe have been popping up, so as of recently, it may have surpassed the Ys series. But if it did, it was not by much. I will count it again some other time, maybe. EDIT:There are about 60 Ys games. It also depends of how you count them. But we should discuss this somewhere else... and not in Ys I/II PSP thread. xD Mega Man games, well, there are about this many of them, as well. Maybe a bit less. (Though of course, as far as brand new games go... it doesn't even compare. )
