Ok, maybe I'm blind, but I can't find a translation for YsO. Not looking for a patch, I know that's not out; I was more wondering if there was just a translation script at all. Doesn't even have to be a good localization, just something to give me the idea of what's going on. Thanks.

As far as Ys scripts go, the Ys V one has already been done for almost 3 years now. They are in the hands of Gideon Zhi and Deuce, and the latter did the translation.
As for Ys ORIGIN, apparently we have got to wait for the patch.

I see... well does anyone know where to find one of these plot summaries?
...hmmm... I'll have to get my hands on the YsV translation as well soon.

I have a... summary of sorts I cobbled together from various threads here, plus other info, PLUS my own not-so-good Japanese know-how while playing through the game back when it first came out.
If there's interest in such, I'll happily post it here for all to see.

If it's not too much trouble that'd be helpful. I just picked up the game and don't have much clue what's going on. Obviously Ys was lifted from the earth and demons are attacking. Aside from that I only know what I could deduce from the intro... there are a lot of characters, the goddesses look pretty young, french sounds amazing in japanese and JDK can make a hell of a music score.

Here ya go.It's not perfect; but it might give the gist of things. Dunno if I'll ever finish it, since I suspect my next true playthrough will be post-patch. Nobody will NEED that summary then.

Perfect as far as I'm concerned! Thanks, now I don't feel so out of the loop. Take -that- Japanese (the language... not the people, they're great)!

Hehe. ^.^; I almost never update the darned thing, but I added you as a friend anyhow, floofy. Perhaps your gaming log goodness will inspire me to stop slacking on my own. >_>;;
@sgp - Glad to've helped! I originally wrote that to explain the events to some friends who had no access to the game, so I meant for it to be pretty detailed.

If you want the rest of detail with Thor (Toal), here it is. This continues from Lumi's plot summary.
10. Toal is the one to find Feena. Feena greets him but Toal, being the traitor, prepares to capture her. Zava appears as well. Then, suddenly, Syon arrives and tries to stop Toal. The two battle and of course Toal wins. Just as Zava eggs Toal to finish Syon off, the rest of the Holy Knights and priests arrive. Zava transports Toal and Feena to the tower of Rado. After sealing Feena in the tower of Rado, Toal goes back to the place where he found Feena. Feena gives Toal the harmonica before he leaves. Also, as Toal is getting out of the tower of Rado, Kishgal approaches Toal. Kishgal more or less senses that Toal only pretends to be a traitor and tells Toal that he'll see how far Toal can continue "the act". 11. Toal meets Saul's ghost. Toal is ashamed to meet his fallen leader at Toal's current state but Saul's ghost encourages him to carry on with what Toal belives in and lends Toal his power. 12. Devil's corridor. Toal finds Yunica lying in the middle, unconscious due to the evil effect of music. He saves her and leaves Saul's sword with her. Toal contemplates on using the harmonica to dispell the curse but does not do so as he does not feel that he at the current state is able to produce such pure music (sorry I kinda added my own interpretation there). Anyway, Toal's demon state allows him to pass through the corridor easily. 13. Kick Gelady's ass (BTW, the reason why Toal is killing these big monsters is that he can absorb their essence due to the seed of evil implanted within him and gain their power - and this is the condition under which Toal joined Dalles's party: Toal will help them and in return he is allowed to destroy monsters and absorb their essences, making himself stronger.) 14. Silent Dessert. The usual flashback. Then, Toal meets Cadena and Mucha. Cadena does not believe that Toal has betrayed them as she can see him smile faintly when she tells Toal that Hugo managed to dispell the curse in the Devil's corridor (Toal has a habit of smiling faintly when he hears of Hugo's deeds - a sign that Toal deeply cares about Hugo underneath that aloofness). Cadena simply says she trusts Toal before warping out with Mucha. 15. Meet Reah with the black pearl. Toal pretends to be evil (as usual) but Reah can see through his act, knowing how hard he is trying to supress his seed of evil from overtaking him. Reah also knows that Toal's true goal is to make himself strong enough to consume the origin of evil (magic) and destroy himself along with the black pearl where the origin of evil comes from. Reah simply calls such act suicide and begs Toal to leave the matter in Reah's hands but Toal refuses. Then, Reah simply gives the silver bell and leaves. 16. Go to the tower of Rado. Toal does not have to fight Jenocres and sees Feena. Feena tells him that there is a traitor among the six priests of Ys; hence, they came down without notifying anyone. Toal also hears from Feena what Feena and Reah are trying to do: sealing the black pearl with their wings. Since their wings are the source of life for Feena and Reah, this means they will get sealed in the process as well. Toal gets shocked by this news as he realizes just how much pressure Reah has been under all the time while she was acting as a goddess. Burning with the determination to help Reah, Toal proceeds to go higher up the tower. 17. Before getting out of the tower of Rado, Toal sees Epona. Epona tells Toal that Dalles ordered to abandon the tower of Rado. Then, she chastises him for lying to her about not knowing Hugo when she asked him earlier. From Epona's words, it becomes rather obvious that Epona has developed more than just interest in Hugo. Amused by this, Toal leaves. 18. Rip Khonsclard a new one. After the battle, Toal sees Hugo catching up to him. Hugo is still puzzled by Toal's actions. After giving Hugo a small pep talk (sorry, I can't remember what Toal said), Toal proceeds to the upper floor. Hugo, confused by Toal's words, remains there, thinking. Suddenly, Dalles and Zava approach Hugo. 18. Destroy Pictimos. After the battle, Toal sees Reah. Toal almost convinces her that she, along with other priests, knights, and Toal himself, can try to fix things together without having to sacrifice anyone. Then, suddenly, Dalles and Zava appear with brainwashed Hugo. Hugo kicks Toal's ass and they capture Reah. Toal is all left alone battered. Even then, Toal tries to muster strength to get up. Suddenly, somebody heals him; it's Syon. Syon is aware that Toal never really betrayed them and gives him the shell so they can keep in touch and lets him know that others are working on freeing Feena. Toal thanks Syon and leaves to reach the top. Syon laments how Rico is not fast enough... 19. The terrriotory with Demonic Core. Kishgal for Toal. Kishgal tells Toal how the seeds of evil will allow them to fight endlessly and how much he was looking forward to fighting Saul's successor (Kishgal killed Saul but Saul was too exhausted after many days of battle that Kishgal was bit dissatisfied with his victory). They fight and Toal wins. Ys gets snared by evil magic, and Kishgal gets up ready to fight another round. Then, suddenly, Yunica shows up with her buddies. Toal leaves them to handle Kishgal and goes up. 20. At the end of the Phantom Visual, Zava awaits. Despite Zava's gloating, Toal mocks how delusional for them to try and control Hugo as Hugo is stronger than both Zava and Dalles, pissing off Zava immensely (Zava was already angry at Toal as he killed those big monsters (i.e. Gelady) she worked so hard to tame). He kicks Zava's ass but Zava does not give up. She summons big monsters. Then, Galeon, along with Cadena, comes out and destroys those monsters. Galeon tells Toal to go on. 21. The final area - to Hugo. Hugo, still controlled by the seeds of evil, tries to choke Epona, who is telling him to get a hold of himself, to death. Toal yells at Hugo to come at him and Hugo, after throwing Epona away, attacks. The two battle and Toal wins. After the battle, Toal manages to get Hugo back to normal and Hugo realizes that he nearly killed Epona. He decides to take Epona to safety and come back to help Toal once that is done. Oh, and before he leaves, he gives Toal the rind of goddess. 22. The very top of the tower. Toal chats with Dalles and tries to attack him. Doesn't work. Then, Toal realizes he has the ring of goddess. Reah tells Toal that it has a portion of her power. Toal attacks with the ring and is successful. Dalles decides to fight Toal seriously. They battle and Toal wins. 23. Dalles tries to destroy the black pearl with himself saying that the clan of darkness's rule is to destroy that which cannot be theirs. Then, suddenly, a spear comes out from the heaven and impales Dalles. The figure descends from the heaven as well. It's Cain Fact, the father of Toal and Hugo. Toal is surprised by his father's appearance and Reah takes precaution. Toal quickly puts one and one together and realizes that the traitor whom Feena spoke of is none other than Cain Fact. Cain Fact acknowledges this and explains that everything up to that point - the creation of source of evil, infiltration of Ys by the clan of darkness, and the floating of the continent of Ys - has been part of his plan. Then, he proceeds to finish off Dalles. Toal calls him out for Cain's actions at this point and Cain simply responds with what a miserable failure Toal is: Cain wanted to see what would happen if a Fact is fused with the seed of evil and thus asked Dalles to infuse Toal with it when they captured him earlier. Cain later asked Dalles to do the same for Hugo. Cain declares both of his sons to be miserable failures, knocks Toal with lightning, and absorbs the source of evil. Toal tries to use his demon form to attack Cain, but Cain counters it with the shield magic and another shot of lightning. When all seems to be lost, Feena appears. She gives Toal his Cleria sword, saying that Rico just finished fixing it (hence, that's why Syon said Rico wasn't fast enough). With Feena and Reah's blessing, Toal manages to break Cain's shield magic. Angered Cain decides to resort to the black pearl; he fuses with it to become the demon king Darm. Toal battles and defeats Darm after the grueling battle. 24. Toal has managed to defeat Darm but Darm isn't destroyed completely. Toal, having spent all his strength, is unable to stop the goddesses from carrying their original plan: sealing the black pearl with their wings. After heartfelt farewell from Reah, they seal themselves with the black pearl. The rest of the priests and knights arrive only after the sealing is done. Toal's hair is back to normal as the sealing of the black pearl depowered the seeds of evil (now we know how their descendants somehow became demons when the seal was broken again). 25. After putting the goddesses and the black pearl under the ground, the party gets ready to go back to Ys. Yunica, Hugo, Mucha, Rico, and Roy will remain but others, including Toal, will go back to the floating continent and leave the record of what happened (the books of Ys). The end.

XD You just saved me a pile of time by doing that. Thank you. Also, getting some clarification on the points I couldn't glean from the text was nice too. I really didn't have a clue WHY Toal was having to go after all those monsters... ^^;

If you want the rest of detail with Thor (Toal), here it is. This continues from Lumi's plot summary. Nifty trick with the color there... almost had me thinking my computer is stupid. Guessing that's to prevent people from reading spoilers? Anyway, I appreciate all the info!

After reading that, the origins of Darm make him out to be alot less omniscient than I thought. I always figured him to be an absolute entity of magic, not some hybrid.
Oh wellz.
