Thinking back to the first image I ever saw of Ys, on the Sega Master System... The words Ys, and then Feena's image...
Imprisoned for centuries first, then at last saved by Adol at the promised time. She gets what? A couple days? Less than a week to live freely? In all the versions of Ys I that I've seen (including the anime), she wishes that these days living freely as a human to not end.
Then Adol finds the harmonica, and releases their memories; to which Feena hides the truth of who she really is...
Soon after the conclusion of Ys I, Feena and Lair/Reah guide Adol to where he needs to be, and they return to where they wait [the statue chamber?] near the Black Pearl...
Then at the end of Ys II, Feena thanks Adol... and maybe most of all for the treasured time that she had living simply as a human...
And so, everyone rejoices and goes on their mostly merry way with how things have turned out...
At the last scene, we see Feena and Lair/Reah in the quiet dark, alone safe guarding/sealing the pearl... or something...
So... I haven't played Ys Origin, Ys Oath, Dawn of Ys (which is kinda non canonical?), Ys V or Ys Seven yet.
But, the way it ends for Feena... Isn't it too sad? After so many lifetimes of waiting, is it really fair to simply have to lock yourself away after waiting so long?? She is given a few days in dangerous times to live free, and then what? They seal away in some place?
Even if one were to blame them for creating the Black Pearl, or even if they could have foreseen what would happen...
I don't know I just always felt sad for Feena. She's the first sight I ever associated with Ys besides the name; and she sort of is just forgotten/given a minor bit role.
Always felt that Feena's story was never complete...
I guess I always hoped the story of Ys would revisit the Goddesses story. I had hoped Origin would be my answer, but unless I'm mistaken, I think they already disappear by that time...
This thread is really just open discussion on Feena. Mostly targeting the events of Ys II [since that's the last that I know that really deals with the two original Goddesses in canon...]
