I keep getting this error in Buldo's Clinic at the very beginning of the game. It happens right after Ayla says that there are demons outside the house so be careful. After that it crashes to desktop and popup says, "Error:Microsoft Video1 error" I have no idea what to do. I tried reinstalling but that didn't help.
I have attached a picture of what the error looks like.

Yes, it's legit.
I had problems installing it the first time, as the install failed but the error was in Japanese so I couldn't read it. Then I played it from the CD and it work?? Then I deleted all the files and reinstalled and the install was a success that time.
I guess I'll try reinstalling again, but I'm not certain that's going to fix it. Third times the charm, they say. Any other hints would be welcome though.
Wait, is there a patch I need to install in between game installation and Nightwolves English translation?

I was just thinking there might have been an official patch that fixed this bug. I could probably navigate Falcoms website more easily if it were in Greek.
And reinstalling didn't help.

From what I understood, he crashed inside the clinic, and not outside. And apparently, he crashed when the CG animation of Ayla and Dr. Buldo ended.
I think he could meddle with the in-game (mostly visual) options. And, if all else fails, maybe reinstalling. Also, he didn't inform us his OS, the most crucial part, as always.

Oh, I'm using windows XP. Could this be a codec issue? It crashes before any CG happens, although the beginning intro works fine. I ran iv5setup.exe and it didn't install some components because I don't have Internet Explorer or Netscape.
OK, if I untick "Enable all AVI movies" in the config exe it doesn't crash, but I guess I'm missing a CG scene?
Yea, trying to play some of the AVI files in the data folder with VLC does not seem to work.

รต_o Hm... from the sound of it, it feels to me as if the game was unproperly installed. I... don't know what to suggest, but to reinstall the game and to make sure everything went well. I'm not sure if it's related, but if you want, you still install some codecs, too. In that case, I'd recommend the KLite Codec Pack.

I think I could reinstall until I turn blue in the face and it's not going to help the problem.

I installed klite, but it didn't help. I'm going to try and install it on Windows 7 and see if I have better luck.
Meh... I can't get Win7 to boot...

lol, if it didn't work on XP, it most definitely won't work on Windows 7. xD
Maybe you may even not have the same problem, but you WILL have loads of other problems.
Anyway, you can't even boot Windows 7? ... Something is fishy between you and installations...

I get a 7B BSOD error, but I don't want that to distract from the topic. It's a driver issue and I guess I'll just have to reinstall sometime, but I'm lazy right now.
I tried reinstalling, this time deleting the registry keys and still the same error. I'm still convinced it has something to do with the fact that the install failed the first time and only succeeded after I ran it from the disc.
