Not I... I suppose it'll turn out to be a good summer popcorn flick or something, but otherwise I expect it to be exactly what I'm expecting, which is what this new trailer is proof of. I remember really liking but not being able to watch too much of the original Transformers show as a kid, but I know that this will still be annoying for me to watch. I can still see that it's probably nothing like the cartoon or the old movie... but at least they kept the transforming sound effect. I've never really liked any of Micheal Bay's previous films, like Armageddon. It's a lot of great looking flash and stuff, but it probably won't be much beyond that. The dialogue in the trailer, for example... it's as if they took Armageddon and just replaced the asteroid with transformers. Even the trailer its self seems so cliche... now Paprika's trailer, that blew me away. But we all know which film will do better in the box office... Funny: I've heard that there will be a Xbox 360 transformer in the movie as well. That's among a bunch of other product placements in the movie.

Well to each his own. I for one think this totally kicks ass. I do agree abt the Michael Bay thing, but at least there's some hand holding by Spielberg. Anyway I only expect to enjoy the effects only, who cares about plot which involves anything to do with tin cans from outer space rampaging around on earth? And somehow it only happens in a certain country on earth

My major beef with it is that it looks like most of the transformers, Decepticon or Autobot look just about the same on screen. I have a gut feeling that when you blow that up to a movie theatre screen, I honestly won't have a clue as to what the hell I'll be looking at during the fight scenes. I find this to be a problem with a lot of CG fight scenes in several of today's major blockbuster films. However films like Sin City and 300 improved this formula by slowing the framerate down significantly as the impact occurs between blows in a fight so that the human eye frame rate can catch up to what exactly is going on on screen.
We'll see though. I'll definitely see it, but I don't have as high hopes for it as I once did. I feel like I'm going to see a movie filled with fights and I won't know how well the specific fights will play out because all I'll be looking at is dynamic/clashing CG machine parts.

I can never watch a film for it's fighting or special effects alone... there needs to be something more, such as at least interesting characters (if not an interesting/original plot). And I also find it extremely annoying when I don't know what's happening during a fight. If it's just a lot of flash indicating that there is a crazy fight taking place, I tend to loose interest and concentrate elsewhere. Slow motion doesn't help much, it makes it easier to see what's going on but remains boring because I rather not see everything slowed down. I like it when the fight scenes are a little bit more on the realistic side (it's possible to be crazy and realistic at the same time) and with fewer changes in the camera. It's all about Tom Yum Goong for me

Tom Yum Goong?? Lol, Ong Bak was better IMO. But they both have weak stories. Doesn't matter I still enjoyed those movies even if they are ripped off from Hong Kong Kung Fu movies.
Anyways, Transformers never really had a plot. So what if it's just an action flick with flashy animation? They have to make them look complicated or it'd really suck seeing the robots in just squares and rectangles. Like I said, it's personal preference, all will be revealed when the movie is out.

I'll definitely give it a chance, being a fan, but there's a part of me that is still angry at the character designs. I would like to see something closer to the originals. But hey, that's me. I have to admit the new trailer did make me feel a little better about the robots, and I am still really looking forward to Peter Cullen as Prime.

Not until they make terrible versions of "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" and "Spartacus and the Sun Beneath the Sea" will I consider my childhood to be exploited.

Well, I never mentioned anything about their stories, but I think they did their job well for a martial arts film and I have nothing really negative to say about it. Still, while I liked the characters and whatever plot there was way better in Ong Bak than Tom Yum Goong, I still like the latter film a little better because the fight scenes are just that damn good (anyone can see that TYG far surpasses OB's fight scenes) so I ended up enjoying it a lot more. But how is it ripping off Kung Fu movies? How else can you properly make a good martial arts film, anyways? Besides... Maui Thai is the ultimate fighting style, and that was obvious even before Tony Jaa entered the scenes. The only martial arts actor I have to say is more entertaining to watch than Tony Jaa is, of course, Bruce Lee. So yeah, um... Transformers. I don't know about storyline but I'm sure they'll mess up everything about it anyways. Why'd they have to go and get humans involved like in the anime Transformers? I'm thinking this is gonna end up trying to be a Toho film... would it hurt to try and be original, at least? I've really gotta pick up the American animated Transformers movie sometime. Has anyone here seen that one?

If this was actually the worst version of Megatron out there, I might be offended.
Overall, looking for a lot of plot in Transformers is silly. It was 80's product placement.

I've really gotta pick up the American animated Transformers movie sometime. Has anyone here seen that one? You mean the really old one where Optimus Prime dies and Rodimus Prime took the lead? Hell yeah, that was classic!

The original animated movie is so awesome, they never matched it. I've lost track of how many times I've seen it.

Well I just watched it. One word. OMFGAWESOMENESS. Just remember to shut your brain off a little and it'll be the best 2007 action cg flick you've ever watched. Oh and I'm an 80's kid, so there's some biaseness towards Transformers but that's expected.

You what? Fuck Transformers. I want to see Dinoriders the Movie. I mean, if we're going to mine the cesspool that is the 80's, we might as well get the diamonds too.

Nah, I'm okay without dinoriders. What would kill, however, would be a sequel series to The Mysterious Cities of Gold.
