I'm trying to install Ys VI on Windows 7 with litlle luck in doing so. Everytime I try to install the game I get a error. I have read in the tread below that is should be possible but not how. seldane.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ysVI&action=display&thread=4734This is what happens: 1: I start the installation. get the first screen press ok to continue. ( i have already set the computer to support Japanese characters.) 2: get a screen with 3 buttons at the bottem. the last one is for closing the installation and the first two if you press them give a confirmation question with yes or no. Press yes to continue 3: now ik get to a screen where you can see where is is going te get installed. I press the first button where i get a confirmation question with yes and no again. after i have pressed yes i get the error message. Error Ys VI.jpg[/img] Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Attachments:

Hi guy listen to me. It's an old and well-know problem. You have to manually create the folder specified in the error before installing the game. It occurs on Vista too. So go to X: then move to application folder and there create a folder named "FALCOM", after that create a subfolder inside "FALCOM" folder calling it "YS6_WIN".
after that try again to install the game and you will succeed.
BE CARE that the actual Ys VI english installer doesn't work properly on Vista and windows 7. This is beacuse the registry install key in stored in a different path in windows vista and windows 7 registries. So the installer looks for the registry key in the same location where xp stores it, but since it can't find it it stops the installation.
As workaround in this meanwhile you can do this way:
1) install the game after creating folders 2) copy and paste the strings posted below in a txt file.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Falcom\Fsetup] "DisplayName"="Fsetup" "Path"="C:\\" "YS6_WIN"="C:\\FALCOM\\YS6_WIN"
edit the install path with your right one.
After editing the strings with the right path where Ys VI is installed on your computer, save the txt file as ys6.reg
3) doubleclick on ys6.reg file and accept to add informations to the registry.
Now you have the additional key that the installer looks for and the english patch install process will be ok.
Sorry to you all guys...I'm buying a new license of Installshield 2010, the only one that supports windows 7. Once done I'll release an updated patch that will fix all the troubles. Bye Bye

Thanks for the help. worked perfectly. Only a bit strange that he refers to the X: drive while i am trying to install it on C:. X is a generic reference to any hard drive. Not like he or anyone else on the internets knows if you're installing it on you're default C drive or a secondary drive such as D,E,F,or whatever. Plus your picture says X lol

Hello everyone, I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing about problems installing games, but I've searched and seemingly tried everything, and I still can't play Ys6 on my PC. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, and I've seen all of the posts about creating folders. The game itself seems to install fine and there are no errors during the installation process. I'm not exactly sure as to where to create the "Application Data" folder - when I install the game, Windows creates a folder in "AppData/Roaming" called "FALCOM/YS6_WIN", so I thought it might be ok. When that didn't work, I tried making "Application Data/FALCOM/YS6_WIN" in the "AppData" folder, yet that didn't work either. Another question I have is, must I then install the game into that "Application Data/FALCOM/YS6_WIN" folder, or can I just choose "C:" or whatever? I tried both, and neither worked. If anyone could provide a pic of the exact location of the folder using Windows 7, that would help a lot. I apologize for the long post, and thanks in advance for any help! Edit: Oops, I should have been more clear. I can install the game, but when I click on either the config or Ys6 .exe, it appears as though they are going to run, but after a few seconds, nothing happens; I then I have to go to the task manager and cancel the process
