So far....OiF is pretty easy. Kind of wish I didn't have to unlock the highest difficulty. Or was that a by-product of the english patch for complete?
The first boss whose name I forgot was kind of fun, I died because I was just going at it rather than treating it like a boss. But the second boss was kind of rough.
So I got this fire spell, and it's the only way to hit the boss...and it does 2, sometimes 5 damage (if I can hit her necklace). So I end up having to spend 4-5 minutes on the boss without getting hit more than three times because the mana bar regenerates so slowly....
Originally, I was going to post asking if the jump in difficulty was normal, or if I was just going to have to kill enemies for levels in events where I barely hit for damage.
So I looked around and apparently missed a ruby that would allow my fireball to charge by lighting a somewhat not so obvious torch with fire to make a chest appear.
Of course, I decided to see if this was the answer, and reloaded a save. Sure enough, charged fireball made her more of a joke than the first boss, and on par with those slug things...
Need to unlock whatever the highest difficulty is fast.....D:

It's normal. I could only choose Easy or Normal, soo....
I'm on the mountain place thingy and got the earth bracelet. The enemies are getting interesting, ruins was my favorite I think because of all the shots flying. If I got too relaxed about playing (i.e. just zoning out) I got close to dying. Did die twice in ruins because I was just lah di dahing around.
I've died at least once to every boss, some a few more. Usually from me just going at it and learning. Which is thankfully quick since every enemy does animation A before attack A, and animation B before attack B, or just flashes white for a second before basic attack.
But it's proving it has potential to be much more interesting later on.

What difficulty are you playing on? Because I played the whole game on Normal, and got my ass handed to me at least once on every single boss Even the dog boss in Valestein? That was the only boss I one-shot, but there was almost nothing to it it. :X

... Also, the English patch should automatically unlock EVERY difficulty, up through Inferno. Not sure why it wouldn't have done that for you. Um, I'm VERY confident that isn't true. Are you sure? xD Also, tancients, apparently you don't have the latest Falcom patch installed, else you'd also have had the "Very Easy" difficulty to choose since the very beginning. That means you won't be able to unlock the game's greatest difficulty, "Inferno".

The patch should install the latest Falcom patch, yeah, but that patch only unlocks Very Easy in the start. xD As for Hard, Nightmare and Inferno difficulties, you have to unlock one by one yourself, after the patch was applied. Well, I know the patch is required for at least "Inferno".
Anyway, boo to that. xD I'd have liked to play on Inferno and get my ass kicked a billion of times from the start. xD

Uh, actually not. XD You unlock Hard only when you finish on Normal. Then Nightmare when you finish on Hard. Then Inferno by finishing on Nightmare, as well as finishing boss rush on Nightmare.
Not that all this is actually relevant, but anyway. xD I also found Normal to be considerably hard. Not impossible, but certainly not easy either.
