I'm just curious to know whether there will be a pc version of Ys 7 released soon.

Last word was they claim they want it to be on PC but there are issues with distribution of PC games.
Huh.

My guess is piracy. Either that or the Japanese PC market has totally caved in.

Oh, now see, I must've missed that! I wonder what problems they might be referring to...? -Tom Not surprised you missed it, I only saw it cus floofy linked me to it. Stupid twitter page. Here, anyway. Also the piracy thing would hold water if they weren't now developing on the PSP. So I call nonsense on that one.

I don't see why it wouldn't make them any less hesitant to develop on the PSP though.
All I could assume they mean is sales - they clearly had no problem distributing Zwei 2+ and Chronicles PSP PC. And it's not like shops won't stock their games or anything, Bic Camera had a big display for Zwei 2 when it came out, and Sofmap always had a little section dedicated to Falcom stuff...

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't release Ys 7 on PC. Falcom are not the only ones who became hesitant about the PC market, and it's a fact, PC games are far more pirated than console games. But well, I still have some hope. If this game isn't released on PC, it will be the only "new generation" Ys that I won't be able to play (I definitely won't buy a PSP, ever).

Not sure what you have against the PSP. I bought one solely for Ys 7 but haven't regretted it at all. It's a pretty nice piece of technology with a big beautiful screen and a number of good games for it. The price is even coming down and if you get it used or refurbished like I did, you can pick up one of the newer ones for like $130.
I don't want to sound like a commercial for the PSP, but I had no feelings about it one way or the other and since purchasing it have been won over.

I hated the PSP until Phantasy Star Portable and Circuit City's going out of business sale got me to buy one. Now I openly endorse it and it has single-handedly revived my interest in portable gaming

Well, I don't have anything against the PSP, but the only game that interests me is Ys 7, and I'm not going to buy it only for one single game since I don't play that much ^^

Yeah, I looked around on IGN and found a handful of fun games. On the other hand, if you only want Ys 7 I can understand the hesitation to drop a fair amount of cash.

I've admittedly bought too many systems for a single game.
I bought my first PS2 (it was a JP) for beatmania IIDX. At the time I owned US PS2 games and beatmania IIDX games/controllers for over a year without actually owning any PS2. First I bought a GameCube memory card for Phantasy Star Online, then I bought a copy of PSO itself, THEN I bought a GC. I pretty much bought a PSP for Phantasy Star Portable.. and to a less extent Monster Hunter. The latter didn't last very long.

Now that I think of it, I bought my PSP for Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. But since then, I found many other great games for it. I was playing the Legend of Heroes series or a while, but the translations are so bad for those that I kind of lost interest. Right now, I'm primarily working on the first Star Ocean, I always have wanted to play it since the second one came out for the PSX way back when. But I like my PSP even more since I got custom firmware because now I can play games for pretty much any system. I don't use it for piracy, however I do have a lot of fun homebrew games, and I can play games that I do own right off the memory stick as it saves battery power.
