Well, I decided to go back to Ys I these past couple of days and test some things. While doing so, I came across some peculiar glitches related to the events with Feena. Before I share my findings, let me just clarify that all of this stuff is regarding the "Complete" version of Ys I. It may or may not apply to other versions (particularly the "Eternal" and "Chronicles" versions), but someone else will have to look into that.
Anyway, first is a bug to get more EXP when rescuing Feena. Ordinarily, Feena gives you 500 EXP for agreeing to rescue her, provided that you do so before finishing the rest of the Shrine. By rapidly hitting the "OK" button when choosing to help Feena, you can actually get as much as 1,500 EXP. For some reason, the game will allow you to select the "rescue Feena" option more than once, if you're fast enough. Credit for this goes to this site.
Alternatively, by selecting the "rescue Feena" option, and then quickly refusing, you can get an infinite amount of EXP from her, as much as 1,000 each time (but that's rather difficult to pull off). As a matter of fact, this may very well be the fastest method of leveling (well, the mantises are probably faster at a certain point), but again, it's quite difficult to continuously get 1,000 EXP via this glitch. Anyway, here's a video of these two glitches, although I should note that the "infinite EXP" one is shown first, and then the previous one.
Next, as some of you know, Feena can level up by stunning the enemies with the Mirror, and having Feena walk/get pushed into them. Once your Mirror's used up, the only place to currently get another is in Minea. However, to get back there, you have to go through Zeptic Village, as the game won't let you use the Wing during the Feena escort mission. Of course, entering Zeptic with Feena will end the escort mission, but there is a way to bypass that.
First, you need to make sure Feena's still with you, close enough to where the game will actually let you into Zeptic. Just as you're exiting the mountain path screen, use an item. For whatever reason, doing this will not end the escort mission, and you can head back to Minea for more Mirrors, or even complete the Mine (provided you have the Treasure Box Key beforehand). Unfortunately, you must end the escort mission at some point or another, as Jevah will not read the Books of Ys without first rescuing Feena (even if she did, Feena must be spoken to at certain points before Jevah sends you to Goban/Darm Tower). Furthermore, it appears that Feena can only gain two levels in this version, which can be done fairly easily with just one Mirror. Anyway, here's a video of this glitch in action.
Lastly, if you choose to finish up the rest of the Shrine before rescuing Feena, you're not supposed to be able to leave after obtaining the Book of Ys after killing Nygtilger. However, if you use the item/warp glitch while getting the Book, you can leave the Shrine without Feena, and get the other Books of Ys. The only catch is that you are unable to use a Wing (takes effect immediately after getting Volume Hadal), at least until you finish the escort mission (which, again, cannot be permanently skipped).
