Same here. : )
Time is kind of limited for me at the moment since I've got a website redesign project from work that will require additional work hours at home until I can hopefully meet a deadline, but I feel that I can at least contribute a couple of hours this weekend to knock out a graphic or something that we can test in game. : 0

I feel bad not posting anything for a while, so have some random screenshots I took out of boredom: Does this forum have it's own thumbnail code? :x Anyway, I'll try and check on a few things and maybe I'll pull some surprise or something for people within this next month (Just a surprise, I doubt it'll be up to quality standards for release by then).

Hello, that looks like Zwei 1 right there! Be that your surprise? Also, I love that dog conversation. -Tom No, that's just me being really bored and slightly frustrated. Can't say what the surprise might be until I get approval for it first and make a few minor tweaks.

Woot! The weekly mail order special is Zweii II+, gonna grab it in anticipation of this fantastic looking translation effort! Very nicely done, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Great to see more screenshot progress and that would be great to see Zwei! I in English as well. I'd actually prefer to play that first and then play Zwei II. : )
Since you said that you were bored with how the current progress is coming along, here's something I could still use in order to edit more graphical content.
Is there anyway you can provide me with a list of what each of the images you sent me earlier should say in English and in Romanized Japanese? Maybe just make a text file or word doc of each of the file names/extensions with the Japanese / English text on the same line. Then I'll know how to best match all the graphics up when I do the editing. I was thinking of working on it a bit tonight, but we'll see. I'm still heavily playing Ys Seven when I can spot the time.

Already have that all translated in files, but it's just Japanese and English. I can throw the romanized Japanese in and have it sent your way tomorrow evening probably.

Sounds good to me. I'll try to find some time this week to work a bit on this. Life's been busy and it's thrown me a brand new Ys game, but I do want to see this project finished one of these days as I'm sure you do as well. : )

Out of curiosity, what's the roman-ji for anyway?

Woot! The weekly mail order special is Zweii II+, gonna grab it in anticipation of this fantastic looking translation effort! Very nicely done, looking forward to seeing the finished product. *eeee!* If there's one Falcom game I'm looking forward to playing, it's that one. (...stop it with the puppy dog eyes, Ys Seven. :p) Ends 9/2, hm...? Drat, I wish I hadn't spent that gift card on the PSP, because I'm not at all comfortable sending my credit card info through e-mail, being as jumpy as I am. :p So I may or may not actually spring for this right now. And yay, screenshots! I was just thinking about this a few days ago, wondering how it's been coming along... (Everyone else already said it, but, yeah -- that dog conversation is great.) [Edit] Actually, a question about Zwei II+... From what I've read here, it uses online activation for its DRM (as opposed to an old-fashioned disc check), right? Does anyone know what the activation limit is, and if it resets after a certain period of time?

Out of curiosity, what's the roman-ji for anyway? Remember how you wanted to place the original Japanese along with the English, only have it be smaller? The Roman-ji would be so that I can easily enter it in a Japanese word processor where I won't have to play "match the kanji" as much. lol I simply type it in, bring it into photoshop and presto! Instant smaller Japanese character set to be placed just above the English text as you were mentioning earlier. -Thomas

And I already have the Japanese included so you could copy/paste right from the translation file if you wanted. And Plus just has a classic style cd key. No online activation or anything, just the kind of cd key PC games have had in the West years and years ago.

Cool, sounds good to me. Just go ahead and PM me the link as soon as you are finished. Hopefully I'll be able to see the Japanese character set you are using. : )
I've started the layout for the editing process of all 14 tutorial screens for the time being. Trying to piece together the background images at the top and bottom that so that they are the same for all pages once the text is added. The toughest part about that is going to be reconstructing the "in-game screenshot" images that are being overlapped by the Japanese text.
Also, regarding the fonts used in the tutorial screens as well as the locations, we're going to need to come up with around four to five fonts altogether in order to make them look closer to how they appear in the Japanese version. Some of the fonts are more "bubbly-round", some are "normal-sharp" and some are "extra sharp".
There are some variations on these, but I'd say that we can probably get by with around 4 or 5 in total, graphics-wise.
I'm anxious to see Lunar's font set when it is finished as well. The rest can probably be custom fonts online at places like DaFont.

Ah, do you not have a Japanese font installed on your computer? I was just going to send a text file. heh
And yeah, in-game screenshots like that will have to wait for now I think until the font is done, then we can just take actual screenshots and layer the right parts over it (Except for one, which I provided a translation for because it's too busy to recreate)

As of last night, the drawing/design portion of the font is 100% done. All I have to do is actually make it into a proper font and check it for spacing/display issues and we'll be good to go.

Very cool to know. Thanks Lunar! And yep, I was able to view the Japanese character set in the text file you sent over tancients. So were good to go there. I just need to spend some time looking at it so that I know how it correlates to the various images/ location names, tutorial files, et cetera.
It's a very large file indeed! : )

Sort images by name by alphabet (English), and the list should be in complete order. Top to bottom with all the Japanese.

It's not online activation. It has a registration code included on a card inside the package, and you have to enter that code in when you first install the game. That's it. AFAIK, you can reinstall with the same code as many times as you want. And Plus just has a classic style cd key. No online activation or anything, just the kind of cd key PC games have had in the West years and years ago. Ah, okay... great, then. The way I heard it described at first made me suspect otherwise, but that's good to know. Makes me feel more comfortable about purchasing it, knowing that I won't potentially have to use some dodgy crack to play my legitimately-owned game a few years down the line.
