I've been thinking of getting the series for a while now, but which version is better, the PC or PSP port? Also, did the PSP ports get any noteable extras?
Thanks in advance.

PC.
Only additions were additional difficulty levels and a couple of new items in 3rd. That's it. Hardly worth the massively downgraded visuals.

Superior version of SnK to me will be the one in English. ;P

You say that like we wouldn't. D: I'll be there the day it comes out, ready to pick up my preorder of the thing, naturally.

The Gagharv trilogy looked visually fine to me on the PSP, are the visuals of SnK really THAT much better in the PC version? Regardless, I'll obviously prefer the PSP version since it's (most likely) getting translated.

Oh, when I was referring to Gagharv, I wasn't trying to compare the PC/PSP versions of those games, I was just saying that if SnK on the PSP looks like the Gagharv trilogy did on the PSP, then I'll have no complaints.

I doubt you'll have any complaints, then. Thanks to the sprites it looks much better than Ys 7 does, at least.

I thought Seven used pretty good use of the PSP's power. Nothing to gawk at, but it was smooth and clean and moved fast. The problem is the PSP doesn't have very much power

If it was actually as powerful as a PS2, we'd have a PS2 emulator for the PSP.

You need more processing power than the original system actually has to emulate it properly. As for the PSP's power, consider how many PS2 games have ports to the PSP. If the system didn't have PS2-level power, we wouldn't be seeing those games.

The fact that we get ports of PS2 games doesn't necessarily prove anything. Games like Shadow of Destiny don't really push the PS2 to it's limits. I would love to see ports of FFX and FFXII without any kind of cuts or nerfs in in regards to graphical quality or voices or whatever.

There would likely have to be a small downgrade in poly count and texture resolution in at least the case of FFXII, though, if it was to run totally smoothly. The PSP is powerful, yes, but it's not quite PS2-level. More like a little below Dreamcast power.

Yeah, Crisis Core is really impressive, those summon animations blew my mind. Plus, it made me appreciate the entire FFVIIverse a bit - you KNOW that's the mark of an impressive game! I think FFX looks notably better in some regards, though. And as a funny coincidence, it's also the only FF game I like more than CC.

Yes yes yes... "I hate FF8 and FF10 because I'm a whiny douche" reviews. Granted, "A Whore's Anal Cannon" was the only good part of the review. I rate this reviewer a 5/10. I like him and I don't. That's a thumb down and a bird up.
// To be fair, he's actually decent, even if I do hate some of his reviews. I'm just personally sick of the whole "we have different opinions regarding Final Fantasy" argument. I agree to disagree with your opinion, but I must warn you, I disagree pretty heavily.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I agree with some of his other reviews, I just find NC a little better -- 6/10 for him. Chester A. Bum, on the other hand, I'd easily rate an 8. XD His reviews are certainly charming and memorable. AVGN gets... a 7. I wasn't too impressed with his Mr. Bucket review; it was funny for like, the first two minutes, and then it just dragged on with the *SAME* joke and punchline which... honestly, doesn't hold together very well for all of 10 minutes.

But Chester A. Bum doesn't really hate anything. XD He just finds a quirky way of acting out the movies. His Up review was genuinely awesome.
I think my favorite right now, is LordKat. Especially watching him play Snake Rattle N' Roll, one of my favorite classics that, annoying enough, plays in an isometric view. I never even knew that there was supposed to be a sequel that was never made.
// I also liked Q*Bert. There's another isometric classic. Unfortunately, it's isometric, and it suffers from isometric controls which fuck me up every time -- I do NOT need to go diagonally when I'm trying to move via a set of cardinal directions!

I'll one day give Soltice a chance. I know exactly what you mean! For example, he gets to the very last level of Snake Rattle N Roll, he's still describing the former level, and then he goes on to say what level he's on. What he's saying isn't even matching up with the action on the screen anymore. The video had been consistent *until* that point. Even still, he did very good. I don't think I'll ever beat that game... and I own it, and it's my goal to beat my collection.
