More and more threads are needed to contain the awesomeness of the news.

Honestly I don't think anything is wrong with having another thread to discuss all of the Falcom games that XSEED is brining over.

Actually, I've got a bit of a question for ya'll (since I figured this would be the best place to ask)... What exactly are the Legend of Heroes games like? I've never played them, but I've seen them at places like GameStop. Another forum I got to has said some pretty bad things about the games, but here it seems like the opposite. I understand that PSP versions we got before were pretty much ruined or something like that, so is that why I've heard people say bad things about it? Just wanted get some of these facts cleared up.

Perhaps they're talking about the butchered Bandai Namco versions? I'm sure wyrd and some other folks can explain in detail about the horrors inflicted on otherwise fun titles.
I've tried one of them a few months back (can't recall which one) in both English and Japanese and even the gameplay was a little different. D:

Ahh, I see then. I'll probably look into the first part when XSEED gets close to releasing it, then. Plus I'd like to support Falcom anyway. Thanks guys.

I just really wish that a company like XSEED had their hands on Falcom stuff from the very start. :/
I wonder if Falcom ever regretted letting Konami and Bandai (as well as Atlus, I guess) do whatever they did to their games? I mean, sure they got moneys from those companies for the licenses but I'm talking about the potential damage to their reputation as well as Ys games.
I checked out some boards around the Net to see reactions to the announcement of the XSEED and Falcom venture and the future releases and there were a lot of people that were kind of put off by the fact that Ys I & II DS were bleh.
I think XSEED has a wee bit of work to do to try and get those kinds of players interested in Falcom's games.
I suppose then that we should be thankful that Ys SEVEN is coming out first. However, the problem with this is that Ys I & II Chronicles goes back to the bump method so if they get totally hyped and happy and comfortable with SEVEN's system, I think Chronicles will be a disappointment.
I do think Felghana will fare alright though given that Adol jumps and swings his sword and such like he did in Napishtim which had a much better reception in the West than the DS games, I'd imagine.
Oh my ... every paragraph started with "I". Anyway, I'm done with ma ramblingus~ ^^;;;

Don't forget Rising Star Games / Ignition / etc.; Ys Tragedy?
Anyway, if they do... they'd have to advertise like crazy. TV commercials would be a big plus, but I forsee them just taking the magazine route instead. :\

Don't forget Rising Star Games / Ignition / etc.; Ys Tragedy? I keep forgetting that game even exists. :P Did it even have a story?

I dunno. I don't even have it. And my copy of Ys I & II DS is still Japanese. I need to sell my Japanese copies sometime. Though I'm incredibly doubtful they'll sell, given English versions are coming out.

Well, comparisons of Chronicles against SEVEN and Felghana will be inevitable~! I can just see people dissing the gameplay because it's kind of ... mindless, if you think about it. :B
You know, what they should have done is port the old PC-88 versions since retro is all the rage now. XD

Hey guys, sorry if this news is old, Kotaku is sometimes a little slow on the uptake... but it's now definitely official!

You know, what they should have done is port the old PC-88 versions since retro is all the rage now. XD Retro is only the rage if it's a game people played when it originally came out or it is a modern game attempted in a retro style. Unknown retro rarely fairs well outside of niche audiences I was actually surprised at how quickly Kotaku reported on niche Japanese games coming out for the US... that don't contain obvious panty-shots

Maybe they don't know and *think* it does? :o Point taken. They might have assumed given talk of PSP ports of Japanese PC games... or heck, just "Japanese games" in general

I wonder how much it costs to advertise on IGN or similar sites. If they're gonna advertise, they should target their audience as much as possible; the gamers who happen to frequent such sites.
Or they could do like Falcom did and advertise on buses!

Well they can get TV time on G4's broadcast of E3 coming up. If they have a trailer/gameplay vid by E3, that would be awesome. Plus, I assume Falcom has connections with advertisements also since they do say
"We can support your sales within our advertisements and Internet Home Pages, etc." on their licensing page.
In addition, XSEED would not go through with this deal if PSP was going to flunk with the possibility of PSP2. I bet they know something about the PSP2 that we don't.
I cant wait to see what XSEED has in store at E3. *I know Ive said it multiple times, but its one of the biggest advertising opportunities of the years"

Maybe Nintendo's big announcement is a Wii remake of The Dawn of Ys or Lost Kefin
And who knows, maybe XSEED will announce a US version of Ys Strategy as a cruel, cruel joke
