Accessory question: Wearing the Luck Medal increases rare drops. But does it only affect the character wearing it, or does the effect spread to everyone in your current party? In other words, should I only kill monsters with the character wearing the accessory to get more rare drops? IIRC, it only affects the character that wears it. seldane.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ys7&action=display&thread=4673 is still mighty useful!

At the Well of Souls mid-point. Damn fine game. Hopefully, Adol will come through yet another hopeless situation.

Oh hey, um, did anyone else have an Adol with a level 7 skill way before the halfway point in the game? ^^
I think mine will seriously max out Strength Blast soon.
!!!!!!!!! Ooh. First Flame Shrine boss beated. At level 20. ^^;;
Oh my. I loved the second Flame Shrine boss. *___* That was fun~~~~!!! :DDD
Wow. I missed Quest 7. Again. :P Oh well. It's not like the game rewards you for finishing all 20 of them.

It's a new day! Not a double post!
Anyway, I'm finally at Kylos. :D Haven't spoken to Mishera yet though. Gonna swap out Aisha for her since I can balance skill attacks and SP replenishing properly this time around. <:B
Oh yeah, gonna keep a running tally of which boss fights I didn't use potions in (for the heck of things). So far, it's the 1st boss fight (because I completely forgot you could heal. >_>), both Flame Shrine bosses, and the battle just outside of Kylos. (Well, I consider it a boss fight. :B)
Haha. I tried taking on the Quest 18 monster before heading to Kylos. So not a good idea. XD Both my party members keeled over in two hits. ^^;

I'm heading to the Wind Sanctum now (already completed the other two). I also maxed out my first skill: Adol's Dominator. It started out kinda weak, but it's ridiculously good now.

Fighting the Earth Dragon now. I'm on Nightmare mode and level 43. It takes me 15 minutes to get my ass kicked by him. Should I grind moar?

No, 43 is actually very high for that point, I think. But you should get the best equipment available if you haven't already.
I reached the final dungeon, but then my headphones broke, so I stopped. I want to experience the final moments of this game with good sound!

No, 43 is actually very high for that point, I think. No way 43 is high enough for this point. I'm at 45 now, and he's still easily the hardest boss in the entire playthrough so far. D:

No seriously, the bestiary lists him as level 35. I think I was at level 35-38 when I fought him. His first phase is extremely predictable and easy, so you should be able to get to the chase part without taking more than a few hits. The chase part is tough, but if you can't nail the patterns then I suppose you can just strong-arm your way through with items at that point.

The first phase is what's easy. My problem is that during his second phase, his attacks seem to almost require flash-guarding. At least the one where he gains a yellow aura and rams you.
EDIT: I mean, really. On Normal, I was lower level than this, and I absolutely destroyed him, but out of all the bosses, he seems to have gotten the most insanely difficult on Nightmare mode.

I think you can prevent him from using that attack by smashing the glowing crystals to your side. Whenever he passed a broken crystal he seemed to slow down, IIRC. When he tries to bite you, just keep to the outer wall and dash, then do a combo on him before he pulls his head back.
Edit: If you don't like fighting the Earth Dragon (I loved it) then you'll hate the next three. I personally found them all frustrating as hell and not fun at all to fight.

I'll try destroying the crystals to see if that works. I'm kinda distressed now though that suddenly during the first phase, he seemed to have dropped exploding things on me instead of the things that usually fall down on you, and killed Dogi from almost full HP. ;_;
EDIT: Thanks for the tip about the crystals. I had no idea those could be destroyed. >.> Managed to win this time. He's a lot easier when he's not moving twice your speed during attacks.

! Oooh! Good tip! I'll be sure to use it since I recall constantly be trampled by the bastard in the Japanese version. Shoved all the potions down my characters' throats in that one fight or something.
Gameplay update~!
Currently getting annoyed at the Earth Sanctum. The whole stupid "activate roots" things drives me insane. It constantly feels like it's just there as a inconvenience to slow people down since there's NO puzzle element to it AT ALL.
It's straight forward and a no-brainer. Stuff like this seriously shouldn't even be included.
What's more annoying is the little "cutscene" for EACH GODDAMN FLOWER.
I'm just thankful the dungeon isn't long and as deadly as Edona for people with crappy short term memory like me. (I got lost again but not as much as I did in my first play-through in the JP version since I ended up using the maps in the guidebook. XD)
And I will complain about this for eternity.

I'm about to do the Fire Shrine. I'm just upgrading everyone to the best gear ATM. It's a pain in the ass to get the required amount of Hot Sandstones for everyone's weapons and gear.

That's what the flowers are like in Ys Seven. And their "cutscenes" last all of what, 2 seconds? Learn some patience!! (: Well, if the doors weren't so frequent and close to one another, it wouldn't annoy me as much. It just ... breaks the zippy flow of things (which is probably the main reason it's annoying to me). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ow. Destroyed my left thumb using the analog nub while fighting the damn centipede. MY GOD, USING SIGROON IN THE FIGHT IS HELL. She misses half the shots due to the fucking auto-targeting. It's like you'll be aiming at the head but the arrow will fly off to the right side because it was trying to get the end of the tail. So yeah, don't use her. Not sure Mishera will fare any better since I can imagine the little power bolt will fly off to god knows where. >_> Anyway, I'm supposed to be doing the Flame Sanctum (as in, I started in that dungeon) but then got weird and went to Kylos. Fought my way to the monument right before the Wind Dragon battle but didn't fight it yet since I want to go back and fight the Fire one first. :P Now back to the Flame Sanctum. I think I might be overlevelled now. *looks at guide* .... Oooooooooh yeah. Waaaaaaaay overlevelled to the point that I could probably take on the Sea Dragon. >___> Still, I doubt it'll be a cake walk since I'll get hit a billion times and use up all my potions or something.
