Or W-boost works equally well. And if she has any injuries or a headache or something, she'll feel better right away.

Yeah, 55k should be longer than most visual novels out there. That's just huge. The only visual novel that comes to mind that might be close though would be Seinarukana but I'm not sure. I can't wait for the game to come out though! I mean, I can't understand Japanese at all so I have been spoiling myself heavily but even then, I still am waiting anxiously for the game! Of course, until then, I need to make some more money to get a PSP so that I could also play the new Ys Seven that I preordered and is now sitting on my shelf.

Sora no Kiseki is the only series I've played in recent memory where I've had to take breaks due to sheer fatigue. My Japanese has gotten to the point now where I don't have a great deal of trouble playing most any game in the language, but SnK is more like reading a Japanese novel. Actually, it might even be worse than one of the novels I've read. I can't speak for the size of the script in comparison to something like FFVII or FFVIII (though I'd suspect it's substantially larger), but Final Fantasy VII was one of the first games I played in Japanese, and in terms of difficulty there's simply no comparison. I'd actually be tempted to say I'd translate all three of the Playstation era Final Fantasies ahead of just FC. So yes, massive amounts of respect for XSEED taking on not just FC, but the other two! Oh, and as an aside, I'm still kind of amazed that we have among our number Varion, who took on SnK FC as one of his first games in Japanese, and Tom, who did the same thing with Xenosaga Episode 1! Y'all are crazy. If admirably so~

Ugh, Xenoanything* is a pain to understand in Japanese if you don't have a knowledge of Nietzschean philosophy, Jungian psychiatry and several flavors of theology. The ability to recognize Hebrew after it's been filtered through Japanese helps too. The same problem makes figuring out all the proper names of the original characters and unit in the SRW series so much fun...
* Except possibly Xenoblade but only because I haven't played it yet and know next to nothing about it.

Yep. That's part of what I mean by the crazy katakana. Sooooo much katakana used in Xenosaga... probably more than I've ever seen in any other game. -Tom That sounds right up my alley, then. |3

Belated reply to topic:
I did not see this twist coming. At all.
It helps, of course, that there was absolutely no foreshadowing (unless you count a single terse dialogue indicating nothing), and it came about pretty Tia Ex Machina. I actually would have preferred it if there'd been SOME kind of warning, something that would stand out on a second playthrough as more obvious, or some such.
Also, as to the debate of evil/not evil: Tia was doing what was required by her god=righteous/ Adol&friends stopping it=evil. Scias seemed much more evil from a moral perspective as he seemed to (at least after the dramatic, and I think, poorly scripted, personality alteration) delight in what they were doing, rather than acting out of a sense of duty. Then again, I guess he was just overcompensating for a sense of guilt.

No, now that I finally saw the scene where Tia shows up in Altago Castle?
Tia is the "good person" villian who is only following fate.
Adol/Group is stopping her so Altago doesn't get wiped off the map.
Scias is just batshit sadistic crazy. Killing all those people, including the King? He was going "YOUR ANCESTOR EXILED US" the entire time basically.
Although he should've done Zanzibar the same way he did the Prime Minister.

Scias was a terrible character. His personality alteration(s) are completely nonsensical. As if his first one wasn't enough, after you defeat him, he decides he needs to do another 180 before he dies.

You mean the *is dragged off kicking and screaming*? It actually quite supervised me when I saw that one too, the villain's unmasking was rather emotional for me, I didn't figure who it really was till it happened. This is why I'm buying OiF. Good story, good action, portable. Just like Ys 7.

Yeah, but it actually makes sense for the Oath in Felghana villain you're talking about, at least if you're referring to the one I think you are. In Scias' cases, though, it just feels very forced. The whole remorse and repentance thing works well for a lot of characters, but considering what Scias did (and how he talked about people, especially the king), he doesn't seem like one of them.

As stated.
Scias is just batshit crazy. And bipolar.

Yeah, I found Scias' sudden mood shifts to be rather forced as well. It was like, they wanted to make him awesome but they didn't have enough room to flesh it out... or something. Still doesn't mean I didn't enjoy slaughtering him at the end of the game, though.

That was a rather effective twist, especially if you've played a bunch of previous Ys games and have her mentally pegged as the love interest of the week. This. Good move by Falcom, of all the people in this game I thought would turn (SCIAS COUGH COUGH) I never in a hundred years expected Tia as the villain. For a game with a not-very-deep story, that was an excellent twist!
