already heard about this, but havent seen that comparison pic yet awesome! Maybe now those who bought looked for sleekness in purchasing their handheld wont shun the DS so soon. Ive already got a DS but I realy want this, especialy if it releases in a colour I like. its releasing in 3 colours in Japan so maybe it'll be the same here when it releases in Spring. It seems there could be some problems though. The movement of the start, select, and light buttons could take getting used to. The power button seems to have moved. The new hinge design could make it difficult to press L and R... but we wont know for sure till theres a hands-on preview of the thing. It should come out alright though. One thing's for sure... Nintendo realy seems to like the Apple look.

Man o Man do I HATE THE *&%^&in' Apple Computers! But the sleek design on the DS is good though (just don't describe it as a *cough* Apple PC).

Fortunately the screen size stays intact. *Glares at the GB Micro*

its so that u can put it in your pocket and take it around, the whole purpose of portability and one of the official laws of media is to get smaller...
and when i referred to nintendo being fond of apple... i was thinking of I-Pod and the colour pallet that most apple products tend to use...
... i hate using macs >_> *PRAYS this doesnt turn into a windows VS Mac debate*

Both the PSP and DS (vanilla) are offenders in the "too large - too heavy" category. This DS redesign is a good move. I'll be picking one up, though I hope one of initially available colors is a GB Micro/PSP -like glossy black!

Hehe, the DS is the fastest selling console ever. That will probably increase too.

No system sellers? Why do you think the DS is selling so well? They are going to release Twilight Princess on the DS. That'll certainly be interesting.

umm.... seldane? are you SURE about that? Im a daily gatherer of game industry info so i'd be shocked if that's one bit of info I have happened to miss. Where did you hear/read about this? All I know is that they want to make an online Four-swords for the DS, but before that they hope to make an original, full 3D zelda game on it. Also, if theres one problem I have seen with the DS, its that many hardcore gamers quickly dismiss it because the best sellers on it so far are new IPs that they arent familliar with. The Ds has been tailored so much for the non-gamers that the hidden hardcore-ness of is just that.. hidden. The DS provokes (contrary to popular beleif, it does not "force") developers to try new things with their old series... so thats why we get games like Metroid Pinball happening. It may seem outrageous and a waste of time at first, but if you actualy play them you'll find how amazing they realy are. A lot of people just wait for something they are familiar with before they decide to get a DS... but seriously, I dont think that will happen too much. The DS is about new fun experiances (that which last happened with the NES and original gameboy). Thats why the "system sellers" so far are amazingly brand new IPs, like Brain Training (older ppl love it) and Nintendogs (mainly boys and girls looking for the next big innovation in tomagotchi). Still, there are quite a few familiar experiances too, mario kart DS would be the system seller there. i would think Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow would have done the job its seriously an amazing game and it's very new while keeping the classic feel alive... so is Mario Kart DS. Plus, yet another new 2D Castlevania is in the works for the DS. I'd say Meteos, Kirby Canvas Curse, Famicom Wars DS, amd Animal Crossing DS also make for great games for harcore gamers... btw, there are strong rumors that there IS a 2D metroid in the works for DS called "metroid dread" (i think). It hasnt been confirmed to be true by ninendo yet, but IGN has stated that it deffinatlet IS in the works, but they wont add it to the upcoming games list till nintendo has confirmed it.besides, Metroid Prime Hunters looks awesome too, and its coming out in march! (and its online ) SO, id say that there are system sellers... but no BIG system sellers. like its been said, Zelda and a Metroid 2D would be real system sellers that could launch software sales by many millions... but like i said, those are both deffinately in the works... im afraid im gonna have to say: start saving up now cuz to top that off, theres basically "Super Mario Bros. 4" coming out too, if nintendo markets it well.. i belive it could be a HUGE seller.... making it into the top 10 best sellers of all time list. The way i see it, nintendo is bringing in hardcore and casual gamers alike to strengthen DS's unit sales and then release the "punishing blows" once the DS has hit the predicted 10 million sales unit for the end of this year (maybe they'll finaly take that Harry Potter game out of the 10th place slot in the top 10 best selling games of all time list). Oh yeah, theres also a NEW TETRIS game made by nintendo that is coming out around march.... the marketing potential is enormous there too.

Oh man.... I was mistaken. I saw so many screenshots from that game (on a DS), so I thought it would be released for it. Turns out they made a special trailer cartridge for the DS. Check me out!

Metroid Dread was NEVER officially confirmed by NCL, and the only rumors to have surfaced concerning the game since last E3 was that it was cancelled... that's not to say that there won't be a 2D Metroid on the DS ever, but probably not anytime soon.
No system sellers on the DS? That's a ridiculous statement. That was true for its first 6 months... same as its true of the PSP's first half year, and the X360 so far, but the DS has more than recovered. It's not the fastest selling system in Japanese history without a reason! It literally has something for everyone at this point.
Castlevania DS - Amazing, amazing game, perhaps the best 2D CV game ever.
Trauma Center - Brilliant reflex/puzzle game that literally would have been impossible on any other system. Hardcore difficult a plus.
Lost in Blue - Pseudo-sequel to the Survival Kids line of games on the GB and GBC. Fun and engaging, but not without its problems.
Trace Memory - Fun if short and easy classic PC-style adventure game... with a Japanese Manga visual flair. If you were ever a fan of classic Sierra adventure games, this and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney should do nicely. (Phoenix Wright is better).

I guess what you mean is, there isnt realy something released on DS yet that you would realy love to play and wouldnt want to miss (like a huge new zelda adventure)... dont worry, i got ya. I mean, maybe those games u mentioned for the PSP were system-sellers for you, but even in Japan... not only did those games not sell PSPs, but NOTHING has sold PSPs yet (except maybe Ridge Racer to some extent.. but that was way back at launch). I guess for the US, GTA would have been the one system seller so far.
and i never said that nintendo had confirmed Metroid Dread, I actually had said that nintendo hasnt confirmed it yet. All i said was that IGN has commented on it (i think it was just in a mailbag update tho), someone there said there was deffinately going to be a 2D metroid, thats all. And even if "dread" was cancelled or not, it doesnt matter... i know either way there wont be a 2D metroid DS anytime soon, but i know there deffinately will be one someday. Im guessing we'd hear about it sometime in 2007.
I'd say namco has just as strong support for nintendo as they've colaborated with them for a few games (Pacman Versus) and have given quite a few good exclusives, even to the GC. Plus, DS will be getting an original "Tales of" game. I mean, i could get a PSP simply for the fact I like mega man and Street fighter, but then i realize that the ones for PSP realy are just yet another port/simple remake from capcom... DS will be getting some original mega man games and that intregues me more. dont get me wrong, i think PSP has its own strong suits and good things about it... its fine to own one, especialy if youve got luminess, i just think the DS has a lot more going for it...
DS is realy good if you're looking for new experiances. You'll have a lot of fun if you just go wild with it and try something obscure, you know? maybe find some new favorites. A lot of people would never think of liking a game about lawers, yet somehow it happened once they gave it a chance.
im just giving my 2 cents here, btw. take what u will of it.

Ouendan is freakin' awesome. I imported it a few weeks ago, and I absolutely love it! The DS has system sellers, regardless of whether YOU like the games or not. Ditto with the PSP, only to a lesser degree, IMHO.
