I believe this came out August 26th. Has anyone here tried this? It clearly has some Falcom influence. Hell, Ys Seven shows up in the related videos...

That sounds great! You know, I've seen a lot of great Japanese games on the indie part of XBLA... oh yeah! So I'd absolutely be able to buy this one when I have the money and can get online! (In other words, you don't need specifically a Japanese 360 to download and play this title -- wyrdwad.) I was playing a cheap Zelda-style knockoff XBLIG too, but I got pretty lost with the Japanese text. You know? I'm going to need a list of non-offline XBLA and XBLIG titles someday, because I hate downloading demos only to discover that I can't play them when I get home. :\ "You must be online to play this." ...that is absolute crap!!! If I BOUGHT and OWN a game, I shouldn't have to be online to play it!!!

Yeah, you don't need a Japanese 360 to get Japanese indie games--I own one, myself!
This actually looks really good for an indie game, I'll have to see how much it costs.

There is allready a game like that on the PSX, Saturn, and even many previous system. Looks cool, but I would nver buy it on a Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, or Sega system. Seriously looks like something for a Hack and slash fan to pick up. Not on any of those guys. Everything in that game is a gimmick, over sized enemies, that would never exsist, doing that ninja air attack thing, even the cheap lighten effect from the catus. I would pick it up, but not on the systems I mentioned before. I guess you can...hold out for the Gizmondo and Neo Geo Pocket Color ports of the game?

Might help your case if you mentioned, you know... the NAME? Why are you so quick to dismiss an indie title before having tried it, anyway?
Whatever. I tried the demo and it's pretty awesome!!! Only the story is in Japanese, everything else is English (including tutorials!). But even so, the language level is basic enough to understand what's going on (amnesiac hero wakes up in a forest with a magical sword). I didn't actually finish the demo because I died towards the end of it. But you were spot-on Wyrdwad, this plays a LOT like Ys Seven (minus the speed). There's a lot of in-air juggle, which is actually a pretty cool system.
It's a free demo, so I encourage anyone with an XBOX to check this out. I will most likely purchase it soon (when I'm done with Breath of Death).

Just out of curiousity, does it REQUIRE being connected online on your XBL account to play it? Because I download these titles elsewhere, and cannot connect to play games with that requirement. :\ It's pretty asinine when they have that requirement, and yet no (or limited) online-only content!

I would check for you, but how? Tell me what to do step-by-step.

Try playing the game without internet access; that's sufficient enough to get an error. It works with demos too. I discovered that with "I MAED A GAME WITH ZOMBIES IN IT!!!!1" (or whatever the hell the title is), I can't play that one offline. // I mean try loading the game offline, of course. If you can't play it without logging in online, it'll tell you.
