This sort of feels like deja vu since I'm certain there's been discussion about this somewhere. Maybe not in its own thread though (or I'm blind and can't find it).
I think one of mine that should be obvious to quite a few people but I shall list it~! XD
Ys SEVEN - A Sunbaked Throb
I seriously can't sit through 50 seconds of this track as it just aggravates me till no end. The drum part from the 0:15 to 0:30 mark is pretty good though.
Ys III - Snare of Darkness
Felghana's version is really annoying. It's just so overly dramatic. Listening to the Pre-Arrange version now and it's not as bad though. PC Engine version is kind of ick too, however.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana - Behold!!
This is version specific. 0:13 - 0:30 is so full of cheese that it induces rage. Ooh, the X68000 one is pretty funky.
Ahaha. The Genesis version of the tune. ^o^~ So plucky. ^^;
I also used to despise Moat of Burnedbless from Ys II like anything but I think it depends on the version of the tune. ^^ Not gonna bother sampling it to find out which one is grating though. :B
I would also list the final battle music for Ys IV: Mask of the Sun but I think the only reason why I didn't like it was due to the damn battle itself.

The only one I dislike is the Ys IV shop theme - The Syobainin, but only the Mask of the Sun version.

Ys I - Tower of the Shadow of Death
Mostly because I just fucking hated Darm Tower. I swear to god if I ever have to listen to the TurboGrafx version of the song again...
Ys II - Moat of Burnedbless
Not bad, just really boring IMO. ;_;
Ys III/Oath in Felghana - Snare of Darkness

Ys VI - the whole game except for Ernst and possibly one other song I'm forgetting.
I don't just consider this soundtrack bad by Ys standards, I consider it bad by general standards. h8
Ys III/OiF - The Strongest Foe
I just don't like how this sounds. It's boring and doesn't get me pumped at all, despite being a final boss theme.
There are a lot more I don't like, and probably more I dislike as strongly as the above, but I don't have the time or energy to go through the OSTs again right now.

I don't exactly expect my opinion of the Ys VI soundtrack to help my popularity, it's just how I feel about it. I love Tower of the Shadow of Death, though.

Even Release of the Far West Ocean has gotten a bit annoying. Perhaps it was just a bad day to listen to it. :V ....... ................. wyrd strikes again! Pshuke's Mansion is bad? o_O?????? It sounds so mellow and relaxing! It's also kind of cute in the original version! I never found anything wrong with it. It's certainly not my favourite Zwei!! track by any means though. In fact, I played it just now to recall what it sounded like. :P I'd sic a nightmare-ish dungeon track on you but I know you like it. >_>

Which, unlike compositional quality, I personally am not too fussed about. SISSIES ESPECIALLY in-game (since it plays during a full-on dungeon level, and by the end, I was just like, MAKE IT STOP!) Glad I haven't listened to Zwei!! OST in context then!

That's from the 2008 version of the OST, isn't it? Sounds off-key in some points like the composer was drunk. I like the original a lot more. And this is another cute (and even sweet) sounding tune! What's with you and your anti-cute-sound music!?

Yeah, I hardly ever listen to that, especially since the other variations of the main theme are SOOO much better (and it's one of my favourite main themes ever!). That one feels a bit ... wonky, if you know what I mean.

Well, there aren't that many Ys songs I don't like (except for most of V's soundtrack but that's another issue...) but here are the few that stand out for me.
Noble District of Toal: I've only found one version of this song I've ever liked and that was on an album of unused tracks. Every other version just sounds grating to me. Sure, Toal was a badass but even so you'd think a sanctuary dedicated in his memory would sound a little more, I dunno, serene.
Ruined City Kishgal: Seriously, this was the best they could do for the final area of the game?
Tension (Ys Origin Version) Ew. I suppose remixing Holders of Power would have made too much sense.
Prelude to the Omen (Super Arrange Version): I don't mind rearrangements that take songs in a different direction for the most part but when the song in question was the BGM for the final area of the game (not counting Beyond the Beginning)... it just didn't work. I'd happily replace most of the other OST songs with the SAV ones but not this one. Actually, Oboro SAV would fit nicely into Sora no Kiseki...
Place of Reticent Lava: Loved A Sunbaked Throb, was not fond of the previous generation. The fact that I found the Fire Temple kind of underwhelming probably didn't help either but it still sounds like a song that belongs somewhere else to me.

Yotaka apparently doesn't like jazz. > Although even I wouldn't care much for Ys Origin Tension or SAV Prelude to the Omen in context, but otherwise, the songs are great. D:

Then your tastes are wrong! Wrong! I don't mind Omen much as a song, I just absolutely can't stand it as a replacement for the original... which seems to be what they were going for the SAV stuff. Oboro's rearrangement completely changes the tone but it works for me in context. Omen, not so much. Then again, I wasn't too fond of Genesis Beyond the Beginning SAV as a replacement either, though I really like it out of context. On the other hand, even out of context I hate Kishgal and Tension (Origin). The former would almost work for me if you stuck it in, say, Crystalis' final stage where the beat would fit nicely with the high-tech aesthetics but not so much otherwise. The latter can go die on the same fire that's currently consuming Gorvan, Salmon and the Fukt family.

"Field" from Ys IV Mask of the Sun. I really don't like it at all, it feels like it's empty. (Love the PCE one though)
I'm really disappointed in Ys I & II Chronicles. With the exception of Dreaming, To Make the End of Battle, Ice Ridge of Noltia, and Ruins of Moondoria, it was a big letdown for me, especially Subterranean Canal and Tender People. As for the vocal themes in Chronicles, I feel Falcom did much better versions of them already, and should have just used the old ones. The new ones just don't sound very good, when I know they've already done better.

I love what Ryo Yonemitsu did with Tender People on the Ys II Perfect Collection, and it's really hard for me to dislike Ys music, and be critical of it. I know they put forth a great effort, but I can't tell you what I was thinking when I heard Tender People in Chronicles. My brother's never finished an Ys game, and he was even upset with the Chronicles Soundtrack. I think part of it is just that I'm a TG16/PCE loyalist when it comes to Ys I -IV music, I can't help it. I just don't see the in game music getting better than it was in those.
At about 2:53 in this video, that's the one I wish was in was in Ys II Chronicles.

I'm right with you wyrd, Tender People and the vocal tracks were amazing! They did a great job with all of these tracks, though! Nevermind their Windows PC midis, no matter how great they can sound!

Ys Seven - Lost Harmony Among People (the Iska Village theme) .................................................................. Well anyway, I can't think of a single Ys track that I hate at the moment, but I'll get back to you on that later.

Nope, pretty sure that's the original. The 2008 version is better, though not by much. No, it's 2008. The original doesn't have the "background" wooshing sounds. Oooh! yotaka's got some different choices! Ys Origin's version of Tension is funky. I like it quite a bit! And Place of Reticent Lava's okei. I definitely take that over the dreadful throbbing of baked suns. And wow. Prelude to the Omen SAV is some serious jazz! It's not something I can just listen to. I gotta be in the mood for it. As for the Ys I & II Chronicles vocals, I like the other version of See You Again (re: Victory) more but the in-game one is all right. Don't care much for the other song though. Oh hey, I spot Comic Sans in that Lilia vid. Don't really like this song either. XD I think the tune just doesn't need vocals, dammit. Oooooooooooooh yeah. I find Lost Harmony Among People to be a very tranquil and soothing tune. Can't believe there's hate for it. XD

2008 soundtrack? Different from the regular one? Where can you find that? I was on the site not too long ago ordering some music and didn't see anything 2008 except for the JDK album.
