I listened through the whole soundtrack. I dont care about music spoilers, because listening to Zero no Kiseki's music makes me want the game more. Anyway, all the battle stuff which starts from E400 is NICE. Especially the no lyrics version of "Way of Life."
Spoilers up until after your visit to Xao: Goddamn, he is creepy as shit. I think that's why he's so awesome though, it gives you the chills when after acting so friendly he suddenly switches to that creepy face and says "It's almost as if you're accusing us of being connected with Yin!" then basically waves the connection in front of your faces then pulls back at the end. That was an awesome scene. So tense.
Meanwhile, Lloyd is being a really awesome lead so far. While I'm not very good at them, I'm really enjoying all the little detective moments where you have to put all the pieces together and surprise everyone with your awesome reasoning skills. It took me multiple attempts to finally get the one at the end of Chapter 1 because I kept focusing too much on the Mafia wanting the Septium rights, rather than the idea they might be training the military dogs to use against Hei Yue. The capture and the wolves appearing was a pretty cool scene but hmm... I couldn't help but feel like Randy was going to have a Kevin moment and resolve everything even without Arios interfering. Oh Randy, what are you hiding? Between that and the scene with Garcia it's looking more and more like there is something.
SO, Crossbell is huge~~ I was all daamn.. and now I'm stuck, because I'm stupid and decided to buy a game like this in a language I don't understand >.>... I think I've gone around the city at least 10 times, as much I like being able to explore it.. I need to move on with the story xD
Game complete! Yeah! Gotta say though, great detail and great cast...story is just a bit lackluster from what I was hoping for...super ultra-long conversations in this one too like SnK. Maybe even longer. I think there is a new award in town for those venturing to dare to take on this one and bring it to western shores. It looks like SnK has lost its medal to ZnK on sheer size alone, in spite of all its other merits.
I'm pretty disappointed with the SnK cast appearing in ZnK though. The character renditions of Estelle and Joshua, especially look really butt-ass ugly (they were so good in SnK)... Joshua, my hunk of man-meat now looks like a total femme...is that lipstick he's wearing???
At least wait a few months after the US release to uncover spoilers. That would be fair for everyone, I think. Not to mention as I moderate the board, I find it easier to use the "25 recent posts" feature to catch up. Anyway, glad to hear it! I can't wait to catch up with everyone else!
If it was anyone other than that character I'd say it's worth a tag since it's such an obvious possibility that we've been expecting it for months. Anyone else, not so much. If, say, Kevin and Ries were to show up in the game I'd sure not want to know until I saw it for myself. Since I'm still on Chapter 1 I've still got most of the surprises ahead of me.
I started Zero no Kiseki recently so I thought I would join this discussion! I've been lurking for a while so nice to meet you~
Anyway, cleared the introductory chapter. The system and music are both great, the characters are charming so far, and I like that the story starts off at a high note right away. I just have one question that maybe those of you who have gotten further in the game can clear up:
Why is the cat on the dormitory roof GREEN? It is green, right? I'm not hallucinating, right? Is there going to be a boss fight with it?
So, so awesome, but such a massive tease with the sheer number of questions that weren't answered by the end.
Really though, I loved almost everything. The characters were excellent and had fantastic chemistry with one another, the music is some of the best I've ever heard out of Sound Team JDK, and the story was full of twists I didn't see coming from miles away.
My only real complaint, but really I expected as much, is the amount of unanswered questions that were left. I expected a lot, but there's more than a lot. Even questions like who killed Lloyd's brother weren't even answered, we just know who it wasn't. So I expect it was probably the Ouroboros. On the other hand, they did a really great job of what story was there, especially with regards to Renne. I was hoping she'd show up, but I really didn't expect how thoroughly they'd deal with her story, even addressing exactly how she's so smart. The scenes at the end of Day 4 in Chapter 3... oh lord.
So all in all, I'm still thinking on which I prefer out of this and Sora SC, but at the very least it's the second best Kiseki game.
BRB hibernating for 2+ years until the next game in the series.
Anyway, looks like people are finishing this fast! How long is it anyway?
Well, I've been playing 10+ hours a day >>
Anyway I'd guess 50 hours for a standard playthrough doing all the quests and stuff. Longer if you want to get everything. I ended on 74, though that includes a few hours of the PSP being left on while doing other things, so it's more like 69-70. Still ages though, and I missed stuff.
You got a wrong order too? Okay, I deliberately ordered ZnK and it was one of the CDs I ordered with it they goofed on (someone apparently transposed a number between the time they accepted my order correctly and shipped it incorrectly) but I've never known them to get an order wrong in any way before.
Also, 'destination story'? How can you have a destination if the title is Zero Trail?
