OMG this game has to be the Ultimate Ys rip off. Its Called Lagoon for the Snes. Same kinda Hp/enemy bar, only Str and defense like Ys. Its a pretty boring game though. Ys beats it to hell

Aha! Lagoon, eh? I played it a long time ago and I remember that I found it to be similiar to Ys. That is why I loved it. But the original Lagoon was not for SNES, it was released in 1990 for Sharp X68000 home computers in Japan. You can see it in the SNES version that it says ©1990 ZOOM, Inc. That is the original developer for the original system. Anyway, I love this game mostly because of nostalgy. But actually, this is not a good game. I do like the music, but it really isn't good.

can you post some pics so that other can see it too? I played so many SNES games in my life, I can;t remember if I played it or not. in that time, I didn't have a lot of money (I was 8 years old or something) so I traded continuesly in the local newspaper...

Sure! The right screenshots are from the X68000 version. (Left ones are from SNES) And that is, really, the ONLY LEGAL ROM I know of (The X68000 version). You can download it from ZOOM's own website! ZOOM, Inc.It's a nice game - take and opportunity and download it! A free game is always appreciated - especially an Ys-like game! Anyway. Here's the screenshots: Last one to the left is for X68000.

I remember this game!! It was very hard....... The attack range of the sword is really very short!! And you have to beat 5 boss to complete the game(cannot save in between)

And one more thing.......this game is kind of slow in some way.... Switching to the inventory screen takes a "few seconds"

I know! The last bosses, I think it's six in a row. But it's still not hard. The game is fairly easy but as you say, the attack range is ridiculously short! The menus are extremely slow and it's frustrating. It makes you avoid using items because it takes so long! But the X68000 version isn't as slow. Too bad it's japanese-only.

Yeah. I saw that.... Strange. They must have modified their page. Oh well. I might as well add it to the downloads section then. (Since they provided, it should be completely legal.)

It's ZOOM's mascot. It's in every game they released and it's always some nice animations releated to it. It's also a Lagoon manga in the X68000 manual - that cat is in that manga! About the page, it seems to be impossible to translate it using Babelfish. That's a shame.

I enjoyed Lagoon a whole lot, actually. Though now that I think about it, Thor (I think that was his name?) does remind me a little bit of Dark Fact..
The game wasn't all that hard; it was just getting used to the range of the sword and timing the swings that was difficult. Occasionally you'd go on streaks, timing it perfectly, then it'd get thrown off just for kicks.
My brother made some animated .gifs from the game a while back. If they're around I'll post them, since they're mostly from the 'cutscenes.'

It was my first 16-bit RPG and it reminded me a lot of Ys (it was my favorite game even back then). The music was also great. The X68000 version is particulary good. Better music and graphics. Thor probably reminds you of Dark Fact because he's blonde, and has long hair (just like me ). Edit: Oops. This was an old thread. I had said all that before.

*laughs* That's probably it. Plus he was a child of darkness and all that, even if [spoilers deleted!]. I thought he had one blue eye and one red eye, though.. Dunno if Dark Fact has anything like that. Think his eyes were yellow, actually.. They both had good taste in fantasy armor, however. Capes are where it's at.

I think that's cool and very unique. Zoom rules.
