Today Falcom announced it will be releasing Windows 7 versions of Ark of Napishtim, Oath in Felghana, Ys Origin and Xanadu next on Dec 16 2010.
Do you think the English patches for these games will be made to work for these versions or will they need to be made from scratch again?

usually they need to do a quick update, since the version number of the game is different. they don't change the game, usually folder placement and such.

I'd rather they used this money towards new games since I think most, if not all, of those games work on Windows 7 with a wee bit of tweaking.
But I guess it means the games will support widescreen natively now?

Umm I guess they could be upgraded, like, again, for the 100th time, allowing Falcom to do their Added Value-toys-new-artbooks- etc.
How different will they be this time..? The PS2 ports looked totally new.

The English patch works with Oath in Felghana so nothing much seems to have changed there. The only caveat is that the game must be run once before it is patched in order to enter the license code. Once patched the window where the code is entered screws up.

Man, they didn't even add the voices from the PSP version. Lazy bastards.
