And you actually defend that? Well Muramasa is on a system that is twenty times the power that is really needed to run the actually game. Also we are talking about perks here, not asking oh can the PCE do all those special effects too bit. As I stated before, this would be considered a port, and with examples like DKC2, the PCE could obviously do it too. I just love the way, how people defends something, and takes it back at the same time. So my PCE is still more powerfull since there is a library of games stronger then the Wii? The PS2 was a better choice then the Sega Dreamcast, since it had a bigger library to choose from? Yet the port of RE4 had one loading screen inside of it. Let me not give you any idea's.....The GCN/Wiimotendo will never ever, ever have the full libarary of PCE games. It will go the way of the dinosaur, and people will still be playing a PCE. let me tell who fault it is. It is not my fault, it is not your fault, it is everybodies fault. That is who fault it is. It is the fault of the parental/kiddie consumer who buys the kid a toy and turns into a ADD problem. It is the fault of you, since you work for a developer and probably own one in your household. It is also my fault, since I am anti-Wii/PS3/360 and will never allow anybody to pry my PCE controller from my cold dead hands. We are all players in the game, and we all contribute somehow in negative and positive ways. That is what people said the last consumer generation, before and so forth. Your starting to sound like the people who actually defends the Atari Jaguar. Yeah it could be a smash hit, if I only had a game Zzzz........................................... Okay an RPG where you have turn based battles, with deformed Earthbound looking critters? That is your defense? Well, I reccomend any game, you can find. Just point me to a game and I will tell all that you need to know. Ask me about any particular game?

Actually, the PC Engine made a very significant dent in the Japanese market, & went toe to toe with both the Famicom & Super Famicom since it was released in 1987 & lasted thru 1996(with the last official game released in 1999). The Mege Drive in Japan was actually the sore loser, despite recieving some great games. Outside of Japan, the PC Engine was a failure unfortunately, & really, they weren't able to bring out alot of the really good games. I was actually in close contact with some peopple at TTI near the end of the Turbo's life cycle, it's unfortunate about the games, including finished ones, that never got released outside Japan, not to mention the original games that just didn't get released at all.
In any case, I guess it wouldn't help to mention that I help in the creation of new Turbo Grafx/PC Engine games, & while I work on sounds, music, voice acting, & planning, I have learned alot about the limitations of the PCE, as well as the limitations of the Genesis & SNES.
For instance, the PC Engine only has 1 BG layer, which is why it has a hard time with paralax, you have to fake paralax on the PCE using various techniques(sometimes involving sprites, sometimes involving making overlapping tiles square, etc.). The Genesis has 2 BG layers, & the SNES has 4 BG layers, so, paralax comes much easier to them unfortunately.
When it comes to colors, the PCE & Genesis have 512 colors. The SNES has over 32,0000 colors! While the Genesis can only display 64 colors onscreen(without doing some tricks), the Turbo can display all 512 colors onscreen, & the SNES has display I believe 256 colors(but like I said, it has a pallete it can use of over 32,000!, so there are more color choices).
When it comes to sprites, the Turbo & SNES can do larger sprites with no problem compared to the Genesis, but, IIRC, the Genesis can display a higher amount of sprites onscreen then the Turbo & SNES.
In regards to sound, the PCE has only 6 sound channels, the SNES has 8, & the Genesis has 10! Personally, I prefer the sound chip of the PCE, with the SNES as my 2nd favorite. I don't really like the scratchy FM stuff that the Genesis tends to put out, but, that's just my opinion. Also, IIRC, the PCE can do wav type samples much easier & clearer then the Genesis.
As far as speed of the cpu goes, both the PCE & the Genesis are neck & neck at around 7 Mhz, with the SNES being IIRC around 3Mhz, but, the PCE has the highest number of MIPS(millions of instructions per second) then the Genesis or SNES. That may be why the PCE has so many shmup's, because they can zip sprites & tiles across a screen much faster then the other systems.
In any case, they all have their strengths & weakness, but that's only with the systems of that generation!

Yep. And just to reiterate for all you non-Regalsins, I don't hate the PC Engine at all. In fact, I kind of feel like I missed out by never having a TurboGrafx-16 during my childhood -- especially after watching some of the previously-linked Chris Bucci reviews. I was really just trying to make a point. Undying love for a system is one thing, and I definitely understand it -- I honestly consider the PSP, as a system, to be my personal favorite platform in video game history... I absolutely love the thing! But I'm not about to delude myself into thinking it's the only system that matters. Hell, I know the DS is totally creaming it in the marketplace... and I can recognize the appeal of the DS... but for me, the PSP is tops. The key words being, "for me." My goal in arguing this with Regalsin is to try and expand his horizons a bit... to help him see beyond himself. But, I see now that my cause is flawed... for when you feed a troll, all you get... is a well-fed troll. -Tom Yeah, I know that, no worries, I'm just trying to show statistics....not that it'll help any

You clearly don't get it. So I'm just going to be mean. After reading threw all the other fourms, and articles about the PCE, I finally decided the PC engine deserves to be my system of choice. The Genesis was a 1980's console only. It wented threw three different transitions, before turning into the Saturn, which is basically what a PC-engine was but for children. Even when the genesis turned into the Saturn, SEGA never released the one attachment, that would have saved it's life. The Saturn was my choice of system last year actually, and since then I have been playing PCE. The SNES was my original system of choice after I stopped playing 3d games, however I soon realize that Nintendo saturated everything that touched the system. The SNES while great and grand was allways a kids toy from the start. I even have a bloody Super Famicom, too, and what nots. I still play it from time, to time. Seriously the NES could still be around right now. There was soo many differnt add-on's and upgrades, but there was never anything to play on them like the PS3. I love my NES more then my SNES, but only play the NES for the games, that should be on the NES. This was my system of choice before the Saturn. The PCE can make a comeback, and is still just as grand and better. What I am trying to point out, is the PCE did everything on the most reasonable level, and while the SNES, did it's own thing, the PCE will allways prime. One day wyrd wad tom you will be just like me. You see my love of comics far outclass my love of programming. While I will conintue to program, I will also continue to create beautiful works of 2d. I have been to Climax of 3d gaming, and back again. Why should I give into the beast? Right now, In China there is a twelve year old kid, mining the material used in electronics. Japan is recycling it's old junk. India is still using floppy disks. Russia is laughing at us. Chinese are still playing the NES, and the British will have there new Amiga. So I say this. Why should I give into the beast ? Regis, I would like to ask you something. Manson was not a bad guy. It was his mom's parent's that started this. Using religion as an excuse. Manson had a good life, but due to all of the attention he attracted, his lifestyle went down quickly. Let me think I am mad like Manson? I am an Artist, does that answer your question? Maybe if I go to jail for ten years, and come out, I will be a future star like Manson. Anybody would rather be a Charles Manson then a Andy Warhol anyday of the weak. The problem was this, they both attracted attention, too much attention.

Regis, I will give you that much. You are an artist, indeed. It takes skill to produce something so poorly written so convincingly. That, or it's genuine ignorance. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and continue to laugh at your antics.
Carry on, sir.
