Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any way to see what the bosses' stats are in the beastiary? They're all showing up as " ", and I don't think I'm missing anything from the equipment or inventory screens. Unless I'm missing something, it strikes me as odd that their stats are unlisted. In other Ys games with beastiaries, the info's there pretty much right away, provided you use the item to see monster stats. For what it's worth, this issue shows up in both the PC and PSP versions.

This issue is entirely deliberate. The bosses' stats change with each difficulty setting, so Falcom didn't bother listing them to begin with. There's no way to actually fill in these values in-game (if you really want to know the numbers, though, you'll probably find what you seek on GameFAQs).
Hope this helps.

What about the normal enemies? And don't the bosses' stats in Ys I & II change as well? I haven't cross-checked their difficulty stats (Chronicles version of Ys I has the bosses stats listed), but at the very least, they take more damage, which would imply varying amounts of DEF (then again, I've no idea of the damage formulas for those games).
In any case, it's not a big deal, just something I'm curious about. Kinda makes me wish they didn't have a viewable beastiary for YsF if they're not going to give you all enemy info.

I'm glad they have a bestiary. If a bestiary only has stats I never use it, but when the monsters have little descriptions then I enjoy reading through a bestiary.

Just double-checked some stats for YsF, and it lists varying stats for the normal monsters, depending on the difficulty. For Ys I, though, enemies' stats for Easy and Nightmare appear to be both listed as the same - a bit odd, considering that the enemies are about twice as strong on Nightmare in comparison to Easy. I'm glad they have a bestiary. If a bestiary only has stats I never use it, but when the monsters have little descriptions then I enjoy reading through a bestiary. This I agree with. I've never paid much attention to Ys I's beastiary (that'll probably change once Chronicles is released over here), but enjoyed reading through the ones in Ys II and YsF.

Both the character and monster entries were absent from Ys I Eternal/Complete.
(Technically, the normal monsters had stat entries then, but not in an organized manner like Ys II.)
