Is Sora no Kiseki getting an anime version? As Omgfloofy pointed out, the Japanese anime news site Moonphase has been talking up this possibility for a while. Now it seems we have official confirmation in the form of Falcom's latest Investor Report: www.falcom.co.jp/kaisya/ir/library_pdf/setumei101110.pdf On page 3, in the plans for September 2011, it says: "We are continuing to strengthen the (Sora no Kiseki) brand name with multi-use products such as comics, anime, drama CDs, accessories and even tapestries." Also, Falcom wrote this on their twitter: "I just saw the obi for the first volume of the Sora no Kiseki manga (published by Emotion on 12/10). This is... Ohhhhhh!!! This is amazing! Those of you who buy it, make sure to check it out!" twitter.com/#!/nihonfalcom/status/5205117271801857 The obi is the useless piece of paper folded in to the cover of manga volumes. Anime adaptations and other announcements are often posted there.

Not that anyone should pay the slightest attention to the Falcom's twitter's hyping of anything anymore.
If they do one they better at least get a good studio for it. No JC Staffs or Studio Deens or Bee Trains.

Not that anyone should pay the slightest attention to the Falcom's twitter's hyping of anything anymore. You have a point there, but I don't think Falcom would make things up for its Investor Reports. Whether the anime is any longer than a five-minute music video remains to be seen, though

I was initially excited about this, but it could easily turn out to be rubbish :S It'd be nice if they did something a bit different and anime'd the drama CDs, that's something I'd like to see.

They should animate the Alternative Saga CD, that would be awesome. Still, this could be good if it's done right. Could also be horrible but hey, the Ys II OVA had some really neat ideas so who's to say they couldn't do something similar here.

I hope it has Ys cameos. *SHOT* *kicked out of the thread* Ys fans get silly jewelry for the 30th anniversary instead! www.falcom.co.jp/falcom30th/30th_goods.htmlAnd hurray. I'm still wondering about the format. OAV? Movie? TV? I hope they properly tell the story of FC instead of jumping forward to an abbreviated version of SC (even though that would be more dramatic.)

Do we have to buy the Blue Necklace to go with the Evil Ring? Should there be warning labels on that thing? And hurray. I'm still wondering about the format. OAV? Movie? TV? I hope they properly tell the story of FC instead of jumping forward to an abbreviated version of SC (even though that would be more dramatic.) Given that this is going to involve FC and SC at least (what with Renne's mid-game reveal being pretty clearly indicated by the picture) there's no sane way to compress the story enough to fit into a movie and Falcom doesn't strike me as insane. An OVA could work, though I'd bet on TV series. And yeah, I'm hoping both parts get the full treatment, even though SC would get the lions share of screentime by definition.

I do like the quality of these bits of jewellery they put out, but I wish they'd do cheaper versions too! 9000 Yen is a fair price for an Ys related lump of sterling silver, but it'd be too much to casually wear.

Given the quality (not QUALITY.. yet) of the screencaps shown it had better be an anime series if that's the best they have to showcase so far. Ugh I'd expect something more impressive looking out of an OVA or movie

Looks to me like someone took Alphonse Elrick, dyed his hair black, and then slapped him across the face

I must say I'm unsure how this will or will not be OVA level when all you've seen are four screenshots. It's... what? The artstyle being "simple"? Summer Wars had really simple art and was still one of the best animated movies from last year. So in the end it all boils down to how it's going to look in motion. Although I do tend to notice that lately "quality" seems to be judged by how much detail they can add to a character's hair in still shots, like in, say, Unlimited Blade Works, than actual animation.

Unlimited Blade Works? SummerWars? Please, refrain from talking about those low tier, gutter trash excuses for quality animation as if they were actually good. You want to know what the pinnacle of anime was? Astroboy. You see, back in the day, people actually had a good idea on what proper design and animation was; it was all so enthralling and just absolutely sublime, unlike the trash that's been produced in the last 40 years that just looks so disgustingly cheap and poorly done. I find it absolutely horrifying how everyone just suddenly lost their artistic sense and animation skills after Astroboy finished, effectively killing the industry and leaving it in some zombie state that just pukes out one poor show after another.

Surely you jest. Your crappy 40 year old animation shows surely won't ever compare to the awesome that nowadays key animators can produce, even when animating those old, archaic characters! Here is just one example of how superior today's animation is and I hope you will find in your best intersts to agree with me, otherwise we might have issues since I am sure the moe era is the superior anime era of all time.

Makoto Shinkai? Is that the best you can do? Hahahaha, what a joke. If anything, he's one of the worst when it comes to the popularisation of the filthy moe culture. Look at all those heroines, they have nothing unique about them whatsoever. They're just cookie-cutter, recycled designs and personalities from previous failed shows and movies which attempted to emulate the amazingly developed and deep characters from Astroboy. And don't get me started on the so called "animation" in his movies. Panning over a big field or the sky for an hour or two hardly counts as animation at all, how can people buy into that kind of crap?
Honestly, I'm absolutely amazed that you would even think of bringing someone like him up at all.

I'm actually surprised anybody responded to his first post, considering how blatantly facetious it was.
Also, if the anime covers SC, does that mean I won't have to wait fifty years to continue the plot after I beat FC?

Saying that it will "only" cover SC or "not give a lot of attention" to FC for now is probably assuming a bit too much. For all we know, they're making a short PV beforehand that had already been announced since forever ago, and I'm willing to bet that these screenshots come from it. And considering SC is where the meat of things happen, it's just to be expected that said PV would feature more stuff from it.
I guess!
