Well, I'd think of the PC version of Napishtim as definitive since it's Falcom's own version (it's got a fan translation too) but the PS2 version's got some things to recommend it as well once you turn off the CG so that's probably a personal choice. Oh, and you included Ys Tragedy for some reason. Other than that, you've got a pretty solid list of both the versions Falcom considers definitive and what I'd recommend if anyone asked which versions to play.

Ys Tragedy, really that bad huh? Ys vs Sora no Kiseki is the only game in the series I haven't checked out. I'm really not a fan of these types of fighting games.

LOL @ Donates And the reason I like the Ps2 version of Ys 6 is because of the voice overs and also the extra levels with Crevia....I really enjoyed those little extras!!

Yeah, the "definitive" version of Ys VI is highly debatable, methinks.

Dash jump puzzles... *shudder*
That said, there's not really a huge difference between the PS2 and PC port in any way that strikes me as making one more "definitive". Crevia doesn't have any lasting impact, and voices are just voices - that change game to game anyway. I don't recall any big difference in the script. If I've missed something, I'd like to know.
Also, since I got informed this you deserve to hear it too - Ys Strategy is not really an Ys game. It's got the name on it, but Wand of Gamelon says Zelda on it...

Crevia is hot though....and i liked the extra music in those levels And yes some of the voice acting was absolutely terrible....especially Terra and Rhaba **cringe**

I haven't played Ark of Napishtim yet but is there a way to disable all of the crudely looking CG scenes on the PS2 version?
Also, couldn't someone just emulate Ys Strategy and directly capture game footage from the emulator?

Sure is a way but I am not sure if the "Cheat' feature is enabled when you first play. You might have to defeat the game to use the cheat mode. If you CAN go into cheat mode, it will be at the startup of the game when you can choose to load a game or start a new game.....that screen. when you select "Cheat" you will go into a room with 3 color switches. First you must activate cheat by hitting Red, Blue, Yellow, Red, Blue, Yellow and then do a downward stike on the middle pesistal and you will hear a ring sound. Next, you hit Yellow, Yellow, Red, Red, Blue and the pedistal again and then the game will start with the way it should have in the first place instead of the gawd aweful CG opening.

Does it switch all of the CG scenes, or just the opening?

True, though to give those models some credit, they do change to reflect all your equipment where Oath required a full 'set', Origin had none and Seven only did weapons (and Adol's shields). Sure, I prefer the sprites but Konami did at least put a bit of extra effort in there. Would that they had put any effort into their PSP port...
