I agree Mega Man 3 is better all around, but 2 always gets my vote because it was my first. Prolly has something to do with Mega Man 2 being the game that put the series on the map

I tried playing the Classic games once (after finishing the Rockman & Forte GBA version), but it was just impossible... The classic Mega Man games are what started it all Your not even a true Mega Man fan... I don't recall you stating that you were actually Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 are a tie for me, they are equally special in their own way. Seems like the older generation who grew up with the 8-bit classics will cherish them the most while the new-age younger generation will dismiss anything older than Xbox 360 as garbage. I miss the classics... reading this thread has prompted me to play Mega Man

I can't wait to recieve my X games in the mail, then I'll play the crap out of them. I tried playing 8 after getting it a couple of weeks ago and the first Wily stage beat my ass as I'm not terribly fond of the muscle memory kind of crap it's forcing me to pull of with it's "Jump, Jump" and "Slide, Slide" bull. >.< Those words will forever haunt me. XD

I think MM3 is better than MM2 as well, but the Doc Robot re-doing the stages thing turns me off.

I'm a huge Mega Man fan myself. I played through and loved all of the classic series (favorites out of 1-10 being 2, 3 and 6). I've played through X1-X6 as well as (favorites being X2 and X5). I'm currently working on the Zero series, playing Zero 2 at the moment.
I really dig these action games, but I haven't tried the various RPG-type spinoffs. I get the feeling I wouldn't care. I'd like to play the Legends series, too, but... not so easy to come by. Maybe they can re-release them to PSN or something before the third one comes out? It's not like Capcom hasn't given us a ton of PSN Avatars using Legends characters.
Anyway. I'm on a quest to play and finish Zero 2-4, X7-X8, and then the two ZX games. Oh, and Maverick Hunter X, of course (already did Powered Up). After that I'll feel satisfied, although I realize there are still a couple of reportedly-decent Game Boy titles out there...

It's interesting that Mega Man 6 is a favorite. What makes you like it?
And if you like the classic series and haven't played the Gameboy titles, I highly recommend Mega Man V. Possibly IV, and if you like a classic challenge, Mega Man I.

It's interesting that Mega Man 6 is a favorite. What makes you like it? I love the soundtrack - I'd say it's easily in the top three of the classic series. I love the "branching-path" concept that can lead you to either of two boss gates, and I think the "Rush Adapters" are cool as all hell - they work better than Rush worked in, well, pretty much any other game in the franchise, honestly. Plus I really dig on the concept of using historical-type warriors as robot masters - it's a clever idea that could be taken further if they wanted to, but it seems they only really touched on it again when they made "Pirate Man." I never honestly could beat Mega Man & Bass, I must confess. I have it on my GBA, but I just can't seem to get through the final castle... sad but true.

Maybe it was because I owned Mega Man 2,3 and 6 back in the day but those are my favorites as well. Mega Man X2 and X5 are my favorites of the X-series too. The only thing I didn't like about X5 was that if I remember correctly, you couldn't get everything playing as zero, you couldn't acquire all the parts. But I remember really enjoying the ending theme for X5.

Megaman? Oh yes. I've played a large amount of the games, although I tend to prefer the action/platformer-y ones rather than Battle Network/Star Force.
I can't see how you could even call yourself a gamer and not have at least played classic/X a bit...
It's definitely one of my favorite series of all time. I grew up with classic, and when X came out it was all anyone talked about.
Both the biggest problem and the greatest reward is that each individual series has so many games in it. You get heaping portions of a good thing, but you get a lot of inconsistency in quality, and it's easy to get sick of it.
Except Legends, I guess. Glad we're getting another one of those.

I'll be honest, I haven't played them... and I wanted another one mostly for Ifune to have his wish come true. He quit. Without him, will it really be what it would be with him anyway?

Sorry if I'm necro-posting here, but if anyone cares anymore it seems like with Legends 3's and Universe's cancellations, that Megaman is being quietly shelved for what may be for good. It's just a sad way to see one of my favourite mascots go

You are not Karura, therefore you are not allowed to revive dead threads with impunity.
And yeah, we know. There are more current topics on MML3 and the general stupidity of Capcom that have mentioned it (and yes, it is very sad). MML3 was my most eagerly anticipated 3DS title too...
