I personally like X-Box better because it has good graphics and because it has Halo and Halo 2.

Gamecube. I realized just yesterday how small those discs actually are. (It was getting dusty, I hadn't used it in ages!) Besides, it is a great looking console. I like it. And a special game: Metroid Prime!
As for the older consoles, I have a lot of favorites. Some of those are: Mega-CD (Sega CD in America), Sega Saturn, Mega Drive (Genesis in America), Famicom (gotta love it), Sega Master System, NES (I like the European system as well), Turbo Duo (One word: Ys!).
That's about it. I also like Game Boy Advance (SP).

First... I think it really depends on what style of game you play... let's break it down Xbox - I dont think xbox is as bad as some people say. Mind you, it has an internal HD where people can mod and copy games onto the harddrive and play from it... And it's a great console for emulation. My uncle moded his and it can play Turbo, SNES, Genesis and some console systems that i've never heard of. Also, Xbox's audience, at least that's what I believe, is towards to older crowd. People who like FPS will get the xbox. It's very graphic oriented console. One of my favourite games, Thief (3): Deadly Shadows, was only available on Xbox or PC. With my PC unable to play Thief, I borrowed my uncle's xbox and rented Thief... damn the game was good. Also gave Halo a try and it was fun. It just reminded me of a long time ago when I played Quake 2 online If I had money, I would buy the Xbox because of Thief (too bad it's single player only - no online stuff) and Halo, just to name a few. Playstation 2 - I bought this console probably because of DDR. It's fun and great exercise But the problem I think with PS2 is its graphics weakness compared to Xbox. I find that sometimes the PS2 lags when it has to deal with heavy graphics. However, if you're talking the library of games.... PS2 wins hands down. There are much more game selection on the PS2 then on the Xbox... i probably have more genre too. I think games like Ratchet and Clank, Jax, DDR shows the flexibility of a ps2. I think Playstation 2 audience are the mid-teens and up. I dont regent buying my PS2 and I love the games that I bought (mind you, only 10 games but still great games ) Gamecube - I consider GC the oddity of the group. Because Nintendo have been and always will be the "kid's console." The best thing about GC is all the cute games that they have. It may be a "kid's console" but it has the best games out there - Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Party, Donky Konga... etc.. Nintendo did an excellent job of incoperating GC and the GBA. But I think the only set back with GC is the online feature... I think they did add the online adaptor but there aren't that many GC games out there that has online features. When I say GC games, I mean exclusively GC games and not something like NHL 2005... PS1 and N64 - these are older console which I know a lot of people have and probably dont play it if they have a newer consoles... but I think N64 did not have that much games... PS1 have a large selection of games just like ps2 but the graphics were horrible... it was very polygonal but that's just a step in advancement of console technology. Thank goodness PS2 is backward compatible! Nintendo DS... I'm not sure what to make of this yet... I feel like Nintendo is trying to crack into the game console/pda market... PSP... Sony's answer to the handheld market... I think it will actually be a success but the set back may be the game cartridge and it's probably not like GBA where you can connect it to the PS2... but the PSP looks real nice... a multimedia handheld. So, if you plan to buy a console (there are A LOT of deals right now for great price!)... it really depends on your preference...

I chose GameCube, because it has great games (Metroid Prime, Resident Evil, Tales of Symphonia, F-ZERO GX, PacMan VS).
PS2 is great to because of the Ys remakes, but I'm gonna wait till those games come out in Europe and then I'll buy a PS2.
old consoles: SNES defenetly (Secret of Mana, Mario Kart, Mario World, Mario RPG, Zelda: Link to the Past, etc.)

I have always been a fan to Nintendo and I can't completly agree with you, CrazyJo that they only make kiddy games. Sure Mario 64 and such but there also exist a numerous "bloody" games such as "Zombies ate my neighbours" (Still afraid to play that game hate those screams Comfort me hehe), "Alien 3" Nes Version (not as bloody as the Genesis version) and the last but not the least, "Sweet Home" (not tried it.. Yet). So Nintendo being Childish? Maybe, sometimes when games such as "Boogerman" appers, then I agree, but only then. Picture from "Sweet Home", Nintendo Approval?

It's a shame Nintendo machines are considered Kiddy Consoles. It's old people who know nothing about games and younger people who are not mature enough to appreciate a good game when they see one (despite the visuals) that have this attitude.

Hansuke... dont get me wrong, there are great games on the gamecube and i love some of the games on it but when I meant kiddy games I just meant the console was more focus towards the younger audience rather then adult/mature audience.
I mean games that were specifically for gamecube.
Xbox has Halo as its "mascot" PS2 has either Ratchet and Clank or Jax as its "mascot" GC has the entire Mario cast as its "mascot"
In an idea world, I would like to own all 3 consoles but I dont have that much money.

I disagree with you, I find consoles very cheap. I mean, 89 euro for a Gamecube? That is nothing. The games, on the other hand, are expensive.

Cheap Consoles, that's tactics! They make money selling games!

Cheap if you money! But expensive if you're a student and have books to buy! Although, I must say the GC deal at $149 with 2 controllers and Double Dash game is very tempting...

the double dash game isn't that good, but the zelda disc (that should be included in the pack) contains the two NES versions and the two N64 versions and a demo of the Wind Waker (NGC)
