Hi! today, I finished Ys III Wanderers from Ys, the PCE version....I've fought with the Ys III Wanderers From Ys final boss in PS2. but never defeated it. I wanna know what is the hardest Ys III version. I think is the PS2 one (OiF counts too)

The SNES version is the least forgiving of the 2D games in my experience; the PS2 one is a joke you can sleepwalk through.

Oo! Congrats Gundamuexia!! All the versions of Ys III are fiendish. I was too happy to skip the horrible hovering final boss in OiF (and Ys VI...) luckily the patch lasted till the end, hooray!
I like the OiF best at the mo since the PS2 style is kinda strange...

I've never played the PS2 version, but the hardest to me would have to be the Famicom version. Truly nightmarish!

Hardest Ys III version: X68000 for me (and for MP83 as well, IIRC).
Not counting YsF though, because it's hard in a different way. Though perhaps it might be harder on Inferno or so, technically.

I would like to try the PS2 version, but I don't have the game or that Swap Magic thing. That said, while I haven't played it, I've heard the Genesis version is balls-hard. PC Engine Ys III is the EASIEST version, though; out of morbid curiosity, I played it a while back and I blinked and it was done. SNES version was pretty nasty even back in the day, though.

Only played two versions. Oath on PSP & III on SNES. SNES one was pretty hard for me since it's a buggy game.

I would agree that the one for the SNES is the hardest, for one reason alone: it's the fastest version of Ys III in existence. The fact that enemies constantly re-spawn, sometimes regardless of where you're standing, does not help. Even at the maximum level, Valestine Castle and Genos Island are both severely challenging. With that said, I really can't help but note how awesome the music is, especially Sealed Time and Searing Struggle.

Anyway, I would say that the X68000 version is the hardest version of Ys III. May I ask what makes it the hardest, exactly?

Even on Normal, it felt harder than the SNES version and others, as well, to me. (Other PC versions like MSX2's also featured Hard mode and all, but they weren't as difficult as the X68000 version somehow.) That version somehow feels "less forgiving" and more brutal/fast-paced. About the Illburn Ruins boss not appearing occasionally, though, we aren't yet sure if it's a problem with the ROM(s) we used to play the game with, or if that game does indeed have that part glitched randomly (so far it seemed to happen at random). Whenever this glitch happened though, we DID have to restart the game from scratch. We tried many, many, many things, but it would not "unglitch" otherwise. On a side note, regardless of all this, it's a very fun version with great music and responsive controls as well. My personal favorite "classic" Ys III (that is, my favorite Ys III if we are to disconsider YsF and, especially, Ys III PS2).

I kinda made the mistake of trying to play through Oath of Felghana for the 1st time on Nightmare... Still paying for that whoops. >_>

Yeah. Obviously first time should've been on Inferno
(yes I know you need to beat the game once to access Inferno.. but hey, not necessarily on the PC version <_<)

I always heard that the Sega Genesis version was the hardest.
