Oh, hey. I got tipped of that such a wonderful thing exists because of my friend and fellow forum-goer, michichan.
Let's see... my first Ys game was the SNES version of III, but after that I didn't really play the series until VI came out on the PS2. I got back into it then, and I've played every release we've gotten in North America since.
I don't think I'll ever get tired of running around as a redheaded swordsman, going on adventures with awesome music playing in the background, and accidentally leaving right before getting anywhere with the heroine. Oh Adol, never change.
In terms of other games, I've been playing JRPGs since before we started calling them JRPGs, and they're still my favorite genre. I play just about everything, though.
I think that covers the basics... for now? Glad to be here, anyway!

Welcome! Also, I just have to comment: I maintain that in fact Adol leaves shorty after getting everywhere with all the eligible ladies in the region. He never stays in one place precisely in order to avoid having to pay child support for the new kids or be tracked down by last game's girls. Go on, try and prove me wrong.

Thanks for the welcome! And... I maintain that in fact Adol leaves shorty after getting everywhere with all the eligible ladies in the region. He never stays in one place precisely in order to avoid having to pay child support for the new kids or be tracked down by last game's girls. Go on, try and prove me wrong. ... this is a good point, and a very valid strategy to keep going on adventures and sowing those wild oats. That being said, Adol has always struck me as the naive type. He probably understands that he's supposed to get SOMETHING from the girl at the end, but doesn't know exactly what that means. Seeing him dash off into the sunset alongside Dogi while the puzzled girl gets left behind so often, he'll never learn, either. For Adol's (and all these ladies') sake, I hope I'm wrong. Would be a shame if his incredible "bumping into things with his sword" skills were going to waste on just monsters.

Maybe, someday, Dogi will give him the speech that his parents apparently never did. XD Welcome aboard!

I can only imagine it will end with Dogi busting through a wall to demonstrate what Adol should do to the next heroine he befriends... maybe that's exactly what he needs? I could see it ending badly, though. Like, lawsuit badly. Oh, and thanks!

Thanks again, everyone! It's good to know that Ys fans might share the same sense of humor along with their excellent taste in videogames

I haven't been the diligent old timer of this place that I should be, so forgive my lateness in my usual greeting: And welcome! Lookin' rather smart there with black-tie Adol there too, Kami.

And welcome! Lookin' rather smart there with black-tie Adol there too, Kami. Why, thank you. One must dress their best to make a good first impression, right? And there are already so many Adols-in-armor-and-maybe-a-scarf, anyway.

Hi Kamiwoo, it just occurred to me that we've already had some good discussions and I've already added you on Backloggery and I haven't officially welcomed you yet to the forum.
Welcome the forum Kamiwoo! : )

I need to say hi on people's introductions more. Yes, Ys fans have just as weird a sense of hunor (or more) as any of the silliness we've discussed, so have fun!

I feel pretty terrible that I'm playing DQVI and Tactics Ogre instead of Ys I & II Chronicles right now... but that's just because I want to savor it all on its own when I get the chance. Plus, I know that once I start it, it'll be hard to put it down. You know how Ys games are.
Thanks again everyone, I feel all welcome and stuff! I'd better get my Ys on soon to be worthy.

ohhh DQVI ahhh thats some memories, but wait i dont trully remember if i finished it... hmmmm well i started with the 5, then go back to 4 and then 6, later 1-2-3 and TA-DAH a genie came out the lamp, oops wrong turn hehehe, but you know going around the world figthing in your dreams is no as fun as in the reality so you better start playing Ys, i have an announcement, i would not complete my YS3 T_T was killed fighthing the magician in the castle, he killed me while saving and unnable to dodge, my last save was at lvl 4 in the mine, and i was already fully leveled with the battle shield and sword, damn magician i would never forgive you, time for some training.

Ouch! That's terrible! But yeah, training solves everything, you know. I think Adol likes to bite off more than he can chew sometimes, why else would there be a "nightmare" difficulty option? I'm a Dragon Quest junkie, been that way since the first one came out. It's sort of my favorite series, except that I can never decide between that and a dozen or so other series that I like (including Ys). I... probably play too many games for my own good.
