Ahh, yeah, I figured someone would get antsy at that image I posted. I just thought it was pertinent to the topic at hand, and might amuse someone.
Although to my credit, it didn't portray what it looked like. Even if it's really obvious what it hints at.

IIRC, that image depicted exactly what it looked like -- am I wrong? I've seen that episode, but I don't recall anything that suggests that it isn't what it looks like. Even still, you did point out that it's obvious what it hints at, which does indeed fit under the criteria. Anyway, I wasn't going to state specifics, and I'm not counting it as a mark against you in any way, as stated before. Like I said, there's nothing wrong with a joke, as long as it's "spoken" or written. Actually, come to think of it... alright, if it's still up for dispute guys, I do have one more suggestion. This will make everyone happy, I believe. "Use common sense. If you would like to post a potentially NSFW image, you can post a link to it -- a link that is clearly marked NSFW." This way, I'm not imposing such a rule that would impede on the carefree nature of ALoY. Sound good?

I'm completely fine with NSFW images being linked to with warnings, no issues from me with that.

Hm, hey, I was thinking...
Since Groupon distributed Ys VI PC and Ys ORIGIN for free and legally, perhaps there would be no problem if I redistributed specifically the Groupon version of those games, as well?
Also, if distributing Saturn games is fine, does that mean PS1 titles also are OK, as well?

* Groupon had the rights to distribute Ys VI and Ys Origin for free, and only them, and that was only for limited time. Just because they could distribute the games for free once, doesn't mean that the games are actually freeware. * Uploading PS1 games would break the 16-bit and under only rule, and Falcom Classics Collection was a specific one-time exemption, the rules have never been changed to "all Saturn games are OK to share". I hope you can understand.

Question: What are the mods' position regarding sharing specifically "Ys ETERNAL", a 1998 japanese Windows 95/98 game? It's so old, most people can't run it anymore anyway! It simply WON'T work with newer OSes (it can be problematic to run even on Windows XP!). Needless to say, it's not sold nor supported anymore, for over a decade now. You cannot buy it supporting Falcom either. They don't sell it. Ys ETERNAL is a VERY important Ys game in terms of "Ys gaming history" so to speak, not any more easier to be obtained than japanese PC games from the 80s, if one is to push things a bit. It's different from its COMPLETE successor on MANY regards, and is capable of providing a different experience in terms of entertainment. ALoY established 1996 as the "safe year" for PC games in these relatively recently-born rules, and so, by 2 years, Ys ETERNAL technically couldn't be shared. Couldn't an exception be applied to THIS one case, as well? It's VERY specific, and VERY relevant to such an Ys community. Thanks for listening to my thoughts and considering things.

But since PMs are outside moderator jurisdiction, you can just PM it. . . to everybody! (except me; I'm happy with Complete)

Yeah, what Unsavory said. I'm sure Kimimi agrees, as well. Sorry. Kimimi does agree as well.

In relation to the topic of fan fictions... what about works inspired by the Ys series and its characters, yet new, individual works? Where would they fall? and is there a thread for such things?
I have a fantasy novel i have been working on, and would love to post some excerpts here.

Warning, Will Robinson! Warning, Warning!
Be advised that making public a piece of literature, even in part, and even on the internet, legally constitutes publication. ie. while the odds of it being discovered are quite low, should you actually plan to seek professional publication, no publisher will touch your work should they happen to learn it's been made public elsewhere.
Small enough chance that it doesn't make much of a difference, but it's something you should know.
And if you still want to risk it, I think a new thread under the Random section would be appropriate.

I'll keep that in mind. Actually according to the order of posts, I have a creative commons 3.0 licence on most of my already published written works, thanks to deviantart.
Thanks for the heads up!

Question: About the 1996 PC game release date limit for sharing games, I'm assuming the date limit moves on as time passes, correct? That is, if 2 years pass after the establishment of the rules, the border line would also move to 1998, right? That's what happens in simply everywhere which such rules, and is completely logical from all angles.
But... doesn't hurt to confirm.
By the way, the "new rules" were established/announced in March 28th 2011.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Red. I'm sorry. There are just too many complications beyond 1996 releases; with the fact that games are multi-platform, re-released on various media, Steam, PSN, XBLA, Wii and 3DS Virtual Console, it's a miracle that we have even allowed 1996 and prior releases of games to be distributed. We'll stick to 1996, even by 2014, for everyone's sake.
