Did I already ask about this some time in the past? Currently utilizing some epic laaaaze so I'm not looking before I post. :3
Anyway, topic.
At the moment, I loves ma iPod touch where most apps are games! :D I think I have over 50 games for it (excluding demos). I don't think I've ever owned so many games for any system before. XD *ish pathetic*
Aside from the touch, the DS Lite and DSi XL + PSP have seen quite a bit of usage in the past months too.
I guess the things I want to play lately all came out for the handhelds. :V

Currently my laptop is my most used gaming platform; it just does everything I need and I can play pretty much anything I want to on it without bothering anyone else.
After that it's handhelds, awesome games + practicality = love.

I don't much care for handhelds. . . they hold your hand too much.
*SHOT*
I do most of my gaming on my computer these days, but that's because of emulation. . . so it doesn't count, maybe? SNES and PS1 have to be my favorites though. Most nostalgia, most games that I absolutely adore. They're what I grew up with, after all. Like family. I've played plenty of great games on other systems, and I've only just discoevered the wealth of the Sega Saturn, but given the choice I always go back to SNES and PS1. And SNES graphics still hold the most charm for me.
I think seeing pretty 16/24bit sprites actually appeals to me as great graphics more than flashy new 3D.

Turbo Grafx-16/Duo aka Pc Engine in Japan. We're talking the magical things of my childhood, and if I don't cut it short here, I'll end up with yet another life story, sprawling essay >.>
I grew up on consoles, and it was a Sega Genesis, or Megadrive for anyone outside of the US, (+32x+cd) and Turbo Grafx 16 (->Turbo Duo via a VERY nice trade in deal with the mail order company TZD back when new games were still being published stateside) household. My parents also had, (I still have) an Intellivision from even before my older brother was born. My first, real, exposure to Nintendo anything was in 1999. This was in middle school when peers were more than happy for you taking their "old junk away" for them. You know, they weren't THREE DEE or NEW enough man. Middle School also marked the start of my ~10 year game collecting saga.
Because of this I have two kinds of nostalgia, one from when I was a toddler through elementary school for the Turbo Grafx/Duo. I still have hazy memories of being enamored by Christmas 1989's present of the tg-16, watching my dad and/or brother play for hours on end. For added perspective, I would turn 2 the following January.
The other would be for the original nes when I was 13, which for all practical purposes, was an entire new world when my brother gave me a toaster unit, sans hookup and games. My brother didn't lie, people were throwing these things away. Then all those trips to Funcoland, buying about ~$10-$15 worth of games that looked interesting and didn't have yet. Good times.
Both hold a special place in my heart, though the 'Turbo' will always reign supreme for me. The relationship with the genesis was a bit odd though.
I think I was too interested with the awesomeness of our TG-16 and ESPECIALLY when we got the Duo, which included none other than Ys Book I and II as one of the pack-in games. We did get the Sega CD before the duo upgrade, it was actually a birthday present for my brother along with a 32x, both refurbished units from Funcoland (the genesis was also technically his, though our dad commandeered it so much you'd never know).
Outside of Lunar: The Silver Star, which was a rental that didn't take but a few days to complete, Popful Mail, which was a rental that took a bit longer to finish as I recall, Dark Wizard, of which I'm not that big of a fan on, and Dungeon Explorer, of which I like both the first and second one on the TG-16 and duo so much more, I don't think I ever saw a single other Sega CD game back when it was still new.
My brother only wanted the 32x for doom, as it was the closest we would get to anything that could play doom for some years to come, and by the time he got those, the only additional genesis games we got were ones we rented, but found being cleared out at a later date. Landstalker, Shining Force II, and Dune come to mind.
Outside of the two Genesis Shining Force games (and as I later figured out, Shining in the Darkness), Streets of Rage 2 (the pack in for the genesis we got), a bit of the first 2 Sonic the Hedgehog games for the Genesis, Sword of Vermilion, Might and Magic, and some others, there wasn't nearly as many stand out games I hold memories of as the TG-16/duo from then.
You have no idea how many years it took to actually find out what some of the games I remembered renting/playing/seeing were. Sword of Vermilion and Popful Mail are two that eluded me for the longest. The scary part is how I confirmed Popful Mail for the Sega CD was indeed the game I remember my brother renting all those years ago. Even scarier, is how accurate my memory of that bgm track was...
I had zero idea the Saturn was anything but an urban myth until well after it was dead in the US. (If there was any kind of advertising, it was that confusing advert for 'Sonic 3d blast' which had me wondering 'wait, are they reviving the genesis or something??') I think I actually knew about the Dreamcast before the Saturn from internet preview and hype.
I got pretty big on the Nintendo stuff from 1999 on, and my brother let me have the snes with ~20 boxed snes games when he got tired of it, same for the virtual boy, two original gameboys, even his gameboy color at some point. None of which cost us a dime. There was no such 'cool factor' to 'retro games' then, it was all old junk no one wanted anymore, and you were crazy/weird/nerdy to want it.
Oh and my brother saved up and bought a new game gear at the original msrp as I recall, along with 3 games, Sonic Chaos, Poker Face Paul's Blackjack, and Poker Face Paul's Poker.....yeah, Sonic Chaos was good at least. Like with the Sega CD and 32x, he got no more games beyond those, and I'm not sure any local place ever rented game gear games. I remember him being bored with the game gear one day, so I sat and played Sonic Chaos on it, then he got re interested when I was having a lot of fun and tried to whine to our mom. XD
Yeah, about that easily banter on into a life story part, I should stop now. >.>

My DSi is getting a lot of love with the new releases, PSP has also been getting a lot of love with the sudden release of good games (Trails in the skies ;_;), PS3 hasn't been getting too much use lately, but that's because I don't have the time to sit down and relax. I haven't used my Wii since Fragile Dreams last year, even though I have like 234987234987 games for the thing.
My steam account hasn't seen me playing any games since January, aaaaaand I touched my PS2 about 3 times for SMT: Nocturne and Viewtiful Joe (I happen to have a 20 inch ancient TV, so I use it for PS2 if I feel like it).
I'm really busy, so I'm only using handhelds these days, hmm.

The Turbo/PC Engine more then anything still captures my attention, & has alot of sentimental value. That's probably why I truly only have a desire for making games on it, compared to anyother system.
Our group has talked in the past about doing PC-FX games, but, even that, I only care about the Turbo. Sure, a part of me wouldnt' mind making games for some of the more obscure systems(Lynx, Jag, Neo Geo, 3DO), but, I just don't have that kinda time, so, it's all Turbo...all the time!

The one that gets the most action is my desktop, of course. After that I'd say the iPod Touch/iPad - the portability of the devices is a huge draw, and the variety of games is both entertaining and overwhelming! I'll play on any other platform for a game that I want, but I don't actively seek out games for a platform just because I want to play on it.

hm... tg-16 was given to me by my uncle (he has the whole tg-16/pce collection)... favourite games that i recall... Ys 1&2, Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge, Bonk 3... and its odd spin-off Air Zonk. Chow Man Fu (or whatever it's called in Japan), annoying but enjoyable puzzle. R-type, hate the fact that it's quite difficult in level 3... but fun shooter Murder Club was interesting. Monster Lair, I enjoyed playing that with my sister. Dynastic Warrior... I remember there was an item that cost like millions coin and felt impossible to get but when i got it, I realized how useless the item was... oh... JJ and Jeff (or Kato and Ken), how can you not love the fart attack? lol!!!!
I'm sure there were others but those are the ones I remember...
PS2 was the first system I bought myself...
Right now, I play more PSP and PS3... My computer is too slow to play games, I used to play hours for Quake 2 on there...

About a week ago, I thought my Turbo CD was busted. I could get the hucards to work. The system card would try to load cd's, but, nothing would happen, the laser wouldn't move, nor would the cd spin.
So, I busted it open as much as possible, even removed some of the cables. Then, figuring it was a lost cost, I put everything back together.....& it works!!! I was...amazed, I though for sure I'd have to send it to someone or buy another one!

Or is that another pce/turbo old timer I'm thinking of?

If one is to talk about overall partialness, over the ages of time - I've always leaned more towards the Playstation systems, ever since le PS1 popped up. :'D That was the very first console I bought by meself, for meself, and I loved all the games I got to play for it. X'D PS2 again got all the releases from (most) of the series I wanted and then..... *just naturally went with the flow and picked a PS3.
As for current partiality to a certain system, I think it's pretty much my handhelds + PC. :'D Even though I bought that PS3 with great, grand excitement, I haven't even been able to finish Final Fantasy XIII, the first and only game I've started on it. :'D I keep collecting more stuff, yet I'm finding no time to actually.... sit and play. T__T~ So, in the past year or so, my PSP and DS have seen the most use. :'D They've been the most convenient to fiddle around with, while traveling to college and back, and even in classes while keeping an eye on the students' works. X'D Add to that the fact that, as nunuu said, most of the games I want to play have just simply been coming out on portable systems~~~~~~ So~
X'D
Le PC has just seen some use by me for games by default simply because a random MMO got a wee bit fun to tootle upon while waiting for the paint to dry on me paintings~ X'D

I'll have to say the SNES/SFC is what gets my attention the most as I pretty much grew up playing the games on there. Whether it be Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country or Final Fantasy IV, I loved playing on it, alone or with a friend, (via DKC 2-player cooperative/competitive mode) I just couldn't get enough.
Though the DS seems to be getting a lot of love from me lately, if only because the UMD drive in my PSP is acting up a lot lately/ or because Nintendo released Pokemon Black, or because I wanted to shorten the list of DS games I own that I haven't even finished yet (that being 42 incomplete DS games.)

I've actually never really considered the reason that handhelds get so much play time was due to the fact that people don't have the time to sit in place, on the couch or bed or whatever, and play something from a console. ^^;
I can empathize though because I've brought my PSP or DS to work a few times before and lord knows that I can't exactly lug my PS3 there and play. XD
Well, I probably could and bring the TV out from the board room since it's on a trolly thingy but then, why would I even go to work if I were just to play games there? XD
Anyway! I just wanted to add that I so loved me PlayStation 2~! I believe that it was the system that actually got me into console gaming. Sure, I had the PlayStation (2 of them ^^) but I didn't have many games for it. :V
So while all ye folks reminisce about the NES days, I'll be over in the corner playing some Taiko no Tatsujin or something. .______.

As for who you are...name doesn't ring a bell, but, maybe you've had other nicknames I would recognize?

PSP, almost exclusively anymore. The library of games therein is almost exclusively catered to my tastes and as a result, buying anything else is almost guaranteed to be a waste of money for me. I like the pick up and play-ability of it, I like that it's portable, I like that I can sleep it and, most importantly, I love the library of games that it has to offer.
Right now I'm sitting on Tactics Ogre, Blaze Union, and Trails in the Sky with a few other older games I have that I'd like to get to *sometime* as well. I want to get/am looking forward to Gungnir, Gloria Union, Final Fantasy IV Complete, Dissidia 012, God Eater Burst... and if I had the time and capital to play everything that looked interesting there are countless other games I could add to the list. I'm sitting on 32 PSP games now. The list is only destined to grow.

ParanoiaDragon, if you know me it would be as Zeon on the pcenginefx forums. I mostly stuck to chatting in the shoutbox when I was active there. I actually read your posts when I passed through the old magicengine forums before I even knew pcenginefx existed. You have quite a few fascinating stories, that's for sure.
