The ESRB has added a new rating to their list of ratings. The E10+ rating Personally, I like this move. I've been wanting a rating between E & T for a long time. There are games (such as Starfox Adventures or Super Smash Bros) that shouldn't have gotten a T rating.

I think that's very interesting... because I'm taking a developmental psych course right now and I think the 6-11 year old group is a vague area. Considering they're not old enough to play games like Street Fighter but they're too old for games like Spongebob. So, having this E10+ is a good idea. I'll assume games like Mario Kart: Double Dash is an E10+ rating.

Mario Kart is still going to be rated E.
Its games like Super Smash Bros or Starfox Adventures that will get the E10+ rating.
Both of the N64 games in the series received E ratings (Super Smash Bros and Starfox 64), but got T ratings due to the graphical difference between the N64 and the Gamecube.

USA sucks with their ESRB ratings. you need just 2 ratings: Everyone and 15+ 15+ is like GTA, Resident Evil..the rest can be everyone. really if kids gonna say "Lets beat up that kid like we did with mario in SSBM"....

There actually did used to be a K-A (Kids to Adults) rating that fit in between E and T. I always wondered why they stopped using it.

I may be wrong, but I think the K-A rating used to be the E rating. Anyways, I wish we would switch to a system similar to what Europe uses They use the PEGI (Pan European Games Information), here is some more info on that. www.pegi.info/home.jsp?language=en

Well, for Spongebob games, they already have the "EC (Early Childhood)" rating. Once kids outgrow Sesame Street and Barney Hide and Speak, they can move onto E games. I personally don't see the need for this new rating.
Maybe once I see what kind of games are going to be getting the new rating, it'll make more sense, but for now, I don't see the point.
