Awesome birthday present for me, though might have to wait since i've already got Xanadu Next, Origin and Sora no Kiseki on my list too. I think a Sonic and Knuckles soundtrack would be epic. My favourite game of the series.  |

Ok, this thing just came out on 10/19, and it's selling fast! Cocoebiz says "sold out" on their page. CD Japan still has some as of this post. My guess is if it is restocked it will keep selling fast. It will be hard with such huge demand to get one. Honestly, I didn't know the release date was 10/19. I always work work work, I'm tired and can't keep up with this stuff like I want to.

Between the evident popularity of this CD and the upcoming Sonic Generations with all its love for Sonic games past, I'd say the odds are good we'll get a Sonic 3 & Knuckles OST in the future too.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles has to happen. This Sonic 1 & 2 set looks pretty cool! vgmdb.net/album/26814I went ahead and ordered one and caught up on some Megaman music releases that I've been passing up. Can't wait check it out! Related news - Sonic The Hedgehog CD soundtrack is due out on 11/23! I wonder if it will have the two different versions of the music. |

I wonder if there are still any legal issues with the Sonic 3 music and Michael Jackson's estate/record label/whatever that was. I know it affected some ports (like PC) in the late 90's but I dunno what all the recent emulated ports have sounded like.
@ Sonic CD: At PAX 2011 I spoke with one of the devs of the XBLA Sonic CD port that is coming up and he stated that that port will have the original soundtrack. I asked if there was a legal issue trying to license the US soundtrack again (as it was done by a contracted music group) but he couldn't comment... he said in a most affirmatory manner

(Sonic 2 introduced me to Sonic, but Sonic 3 & Knuckles got me into the series, making me the fan I am today.) |
