I haven't seen a topic about this before, and I think it's a subject that warrants its own thread. I'm sure everyone has at least one game they're looking forward to; why not discuss your thoughts here?
Personally, I am extremely excited for three games in particular: Anarchy Reigns, Phantasy Star Online 2, and Saints Row: The Third.
Anarchy Reigns is the spiritual sequel to God Hand in the MadWorld universe, with online multiplayer. If that doesn't interest you, just watch this:
I hope Platinum takes back the God Hand license that's rotting away in Capcom's back pocket and put Gene into the game. That would make it Game of the Decade material.
PSO2 just looks like an amazingly fun game that I know I'd love--really, everything I've seen so far has made me want to buy it even if I have to go through import loopholes. It looks to tweak the gameplay to perfection and add some really damn fun new features and especially weapons--I want the chain lance thingy so much!
I've never played a Saints Row game before, but my friend loved SR2. I saw a short gameplay demonstration on the Destructoid web show and fell in love. After seeing the full demo, I know I'm going to try to buy it the day it's released.
Final Fantasy Type-0 Mega Man legends 3....oh wait...*sigh* Sonic genrations (colors is amazing and return to form) El Shaddia Solatorobo: Red The Hunter The last Story...oh wait Xenoblade...oh wait Pandora's Tower....shit Rhodea Sky Soldier Beyond the Labyrinth Earth Seeker
Before reggie was named pres of NOA Nintendo made deal with DQ series and publishing them west side. DQX No one knows if it is or not. However if it's in the deal they made years ago you bet your ass US gets it.
My general lack of current gen consoles keeps me from having a huge list, though I'm about to fix that because there are some next-gen games I really do want to play.
Ao no Kiseki (PSP): Well, what did you expect? I plan to have no life once this game is out until I've beaten it.
Falcom's upcoming Ys and Vita games: Also obviously.
Final Fantasy Type-0 (PSP): Looking pretty good from the demo, bringing back things like a proper world map, towns and a whole lot of customization plus a group of characters who actually play differently. Not bad for a portable experience.
2nd Super Robot Taisen Original Generation (PS3): Continuing the OGverse story with appearances from a bunch of games that I'm just itching to check out, if they include the EX storyline I'd swim to Japan to be able to stand in a line in Akiba on opening day (like a certain seiyuu).
That would be quite lovely! I'm not sure when the NA release will be, though, and it might be months after the JP release. Depending on how it goes, I might import it instead. But I'd probably end up buying the English version too in that case... :s
Skyrim, Kingdom of Amalur, Skyrim, and Skyrim top my list.
Oh yeah, and Skyrim too.
I am... really iffy on Skyrim. It looks like a marked improvement upon Oblivion in basic gameplay and graphics, but it seems that most of the intricacies were wiped out to appease the simpletons. Then again, I intensely hated Oblivion, so I probably wouldn't like it even if it did turn out to be "good."

Oblivion was a BIG step down from Morrowind (and in ways, even Daggerfall), but it still ate up loads of my time. Far more than any normal game.
I'm hoping they don't dumb it down too much for a wider audience. I saw like two years ago when they were taking fan advice on their forum; the majority said something along the lines of "make it more like Morrowind." I'm hoping they're at least smart enough to realize keeping classic fans happy will generate good publicity rather than pissing them off and getting a negative buzz of complaints.
But frankly, even if they turn it into a standard RPG with EXP for leveling up, so long as there's a vast world to explore and hundreds of quests to undertake, I'll immerse myself in it.
He who gets screwed by tentacle monsters should see to it he does not become one.
